Unsurprisingly, marriage pre-dates Christianity.

I see this running trend of Christians/The Church claiming boldly [b]'We came up with that'[/b] or [b]'That idea is ours!'[/b] to any number of provably non-christian founded ideals that sprung up during the course of the development of Christianity, during it's rise to prominence, or before it - as if this somehow gives them authority over it, even if they didn't come up with it in the first place..

The Church manages to find ways of continually claiming all this great stuff is theirs, yet when it comes to stuff that's actually written in the bible about topics such as [b]beating kids[/b], [b]beating your wife[/b] or [b]beating non-believers[/b] then suddenly the argument [i]'That's not ours!'[/i] or more commonly [i]'That's in the old testament so it doesn't count'[/i] springs to mind.

I like these anti-gay marriage rallies. It isn't very often you can point in a specific direction and say without a doubt, "everyone over there is an asshole".

Christianity contains very little original material, good or bad. They didn't invent morals, they didn't invent violence, they just used both of them as a tool to get people behind their cause (and money into their pockets)
