Holy fuck I'm excited.
about what? the next year of silence?
Is CubeWorld better than Trove? They look exactly the same imo.
2013. If they had kept developing this then maybe they could of ridden the minecraft hype. However.. its to late for them to do anything meaningful.
about what? the next year of silence?
Wollay already has my money, so any news that he's still working on the game is good news to me.
hold the fucking phone the SH subforum has star ratings now
Seriously fucking balance the game, the grinding was insane when I played it and it has a very boring early game.
I literally thought this was a paid minecraft mod.
I honestly can't believe anyone could make a Minecraft comparison to this. It looks nothing like Minecraft. The scale of the voxels are completely different and it's very obvious at first glance.
I will believe it when the update finally comes out and not just a statement
For the people still waiting for Cube World to be released check out Trove. It actually has people working on it, and alot of content, its an MMO though so it might not be to everyone's taste
Yeah trove is pretty fun. I'm still holding on to my hope that Cube World will release some day.
That's somewhat comparable to artists whom, when having a subpar piece and/or flaws critiqued, say "It's my artstyle." Simple does not equal "poor in quality on purpose".
Yes, of course. I'm saying that it might be, thus the "could". For example, Magicka is generic as fuck, it works great thematically and it's done on purpose. Cube World is a silly game with the barebones minecraft cubic artstyle that doesn't take itself seriously, and I can see it not taking itself seriously when it comes to faction names as well.
still has more content to show then Minecraft for the past year
I mean, you joke, but Minecraft since it was made has come out with a pretty substantial amount of content. Whether or not it's quality or even complete is up for question, but it's had massive overhauls in its systems and features. Like Keychain said, there's only been one hotfix since release, this is seriously the only news we've had of any sort of update and it's a paltry amount, crumbs to a hungry masses i guess. So yeah, i'd take Minecraft over this any day.
this is seriously the only news we've had of any sort of update and it's a paltry amount, crumbs to a hungry masses i guess.
We've actually had news about the quest system and Wollay redoing progression but to be fair that was kinda 16 months ago or so after all so it's easy to forget that the game hasn't updated since months before that.
Whatever, let it crash and burn. If we can get rid of some of these cancerous block games, the world will be a better place.
But this one came out in 2013 and is actually GOOD. It just needs to be finished FP had a server and we had some fun on it. Though one guy would constantly come on to exploit a bug to crash the server, but that got sorted
Is CubeWorld better than Trove? They look exactly the same imo.
Similar concepts, but Trove has far more content and is a hell of a lot better than Cube World. [editline]13th October 2015[/editline]
Well, it can't be that good of a game if the developer who's making it is treating his customers like this dev is doing
Devs with poor communication skills can still make good games.
That's somewhat comparable to artists whom, when having a subpar piece and/or flaws critiqued, say "It's my artstyle." Simple does not equal "poor in quality on purpose".
Sounds more tongue in cheek than poor on purpose though.
It hasn't been updated besides for 1 single hotfix ever since the alpha came out. So it's not anymore or less worth trying out nowadays than it was back then. The point in this post is to show that the game's actually still being worked on and Wollay didn't just run off with the money.
Even worse, part of that fix was fixing the ridiculous Rogue retreat movement speed. Just jump, hit retreat, and use your kite and you could fly for hundreds of miles.
Is CubeWorld better than Trove? They look exactly the same imo.
I honestly prefer CubeWorld over trove, Even though trove does hold more content the exploration/combat lacks alot...also micro transactions and laggy servers with a knight class that cannot block...seriously 15k HP only to be slapped to 1K hp is dumb.
Yeah but devs with poor communication skills shouldn't make an early access game and not update it for a year
I totally agree! Just saying the game itself is good, despite the shitty developers.
That's somewhat comparable to artists whom, when having a subpar piece and/or flaws critiqued, say "It's my artstyle." Simple does not equal "poor in quality on purpose".
As a huge huuuge fantasy buff, nothing makes me more erect than the idea of a band of heroes uniting against The Doom Legion or similarly tropey villains. There's nothing wrong with simplicity, why create and in-depth mythos with unique factions? It's not the kind of game that would benefit much from the Steel Empire instead being called 'The Invallian Militia' or something like that. Bring on the necromancers of the unholy pact, my blade will smite their ridiculous tropeyness that being said, wollay robbed me and many others blind with Cube World, the game just isn't gonna be ready in any reasonable time and the dev has no respect for his community. If I could refund my purchase, I would without flinching
Yeah but devs with poor communication skills shouldn't make an early access game and not update it for a year

I totally agree! Just saying the game itself is good, despite the shitty developers.
The sad part is that the game had potential to be great and Wollay killed off that potential before his community ever had a chance to properly establish itself and now it'll never be able to live up to that potential no matter how great it turns out due to how Wollay has treated his customers.
even when this game comes out people will forget about it
Even worse, part of that fix was fixing the ridiculous Rogue retreat movement speed. If you aimed down and used shuriken toss it would launch you forwards rather than backwards and let you fly miles with the kite.

Is this an actual patch or news of the upcoming patch?

He still chose to release it and the customer, understandably, had certain expectations for that which he failed to live up to. If he was going to just continue on doing exactly the same thing he'd been doing for the past few years or so before that then he should have just refused to release it. The game's community would have fared better overall. Also it's not a demo if you're paying for it, lol. That would be an early access game. Which is something that customers expect frequent updates from, even if they're not game updates. A lot of people would be far more accepting of this if he at least didn't disappear for months at a time. Since he disappears for months (16 months this last time) it causes people to lose faith in his game and makes them feel like they've been ripped off. [editline]13th October 2015[/editline]
Is this an actual patch or news of the upcoming patch?
Just news of one. Don't expect it anytime soon though because we had news of updates 16 months ago and have yet to get that update either.

http://kotaku.com/despite-23-months-without-updates-cube-world-devs-say-1717034639 <--- the truth behind wollay and his process. but on the other hand he cant help it at this point, UK software laws make it hard to host shop for any game outside of a major platform like steam, where expectations would be even higher and would further slam his idea into the ground with bad review spam on the store page and forum trolls.

You can buy things like defense-ups and extra classes entirely within the game itself. In fact, their tutorial gives you plenty of money to buy two extra classes once you complete every single tutorial mission. And then there are thingslike the potion badges that give you extra atk/def/hp/hp regen/speed/etc. every time you drink them. The only thing that bothers me about their ingame store is a bunch of their gameplay bonuses (such as a more reasonable backpack) can only be bought with credits.
