There is absolutely nothing to gain from having the pictures shown, just possible negatives. Plus, as soon as it's out it will be everywhere and it's incredibly graphic (grey matter) and will be everywhere. Not everyone wants to see that, and not everyone wants their children to see that.
I have a simple suggestion to people who don't want themselves or their children to see it, DON'T LOOK AT IT.
What the fuck, how is "it's too graphic" even an argument
He was unarmed and hiding behind his wife at the time, according to a lot of news sources. And what does shooting him in the face accomplish other than fulfilling people's stupid feelings of revenge? They've made a martyr out of him, his supporters are going to want revenge now too, and both sides are just going to continue blowing each other up.
Just throwin it out there, the thing about Osama hiding behind his wife was made up and wasn't actually true. Hearing news about OBL's death is slightly different than having a dead, martyred picture of OBL to rally around.
Trouble is, federal law defines covert action as "an activity or activities of the United States Government to influence political, economic, or military conditions abroad, where it is intended that the role of the United States Government will not be apparent or acknowledged publicly" [pdf]. The role of the United States in killing Osama bin Laden is apparent and has been acknowledged publicly, and was clearly always intended to be acknowledged. It wasn't a covert action.
Well... thank god for that technicality, now we just can't know about things they don't already tell us about :v:
Osama is MUSLIM not Islamic.
Uh I don't think so.
Can't wait.
Good to see I'm not alone! [editline]5th May 2011[/editline]
Possible photo of Bin Laden: Image doesn't work. Link: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=c08_1304540290
That looks shopped as hell.
A bunch of people at school today brought up that he should just release the photos. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who wants to see a dead guy with a bullet to the head.
Even when they release them, people are just going to claim "omg lol photoshop!"
Even when they release them, people are just going to claim "omg lol photoshop!"
people really need to stop saying this. it's not like on one side there's people who believe the government completely, and on the other side there's the lunatic conspiracy theorists who don't trust anyone, and no one in the middle. nothing is black and white.
Just because I want proof that Osama is dead, doesn't make me as "uncivilized" as Al Qaeda. Not sure about you, but I don't trust my governments words alone, I need some viable proof.
I think "prove it" is a perfectly acceptable request and one that more people should be making to those in power
