I have never heard of an Exorcism where the priests hit the person. Sounds like these people didn't really know what they were doing. Where are the Catholics when you need them.

Maybe they exercised the ghosts instead of exorcising them and made them healthier. Massage is often a healthy thing... and lime juice counts as part of your 5 a day. Silly people, you're supposed to remove the ghosts, not bolster them.
