But if Xbox came out and said this, you guys would treat it like the work of the devil
Sony has been very good at delivering their message, so even these kinds of fuck ups don't compare to just how impotent and bad the Xbox One's message deliverance has been.
yeah, there's literally no other reason they did this other than "SUBSCRIBE TO OUR PREMIUM SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!" I really hope they eventually unlock the feature for users that don't want to fucking pay 60 dollars to listen to a 3 minute song while playing a game
MP3 decoding in commecial products require a license. By not supporting MP3 they are shaving a few bucks off the final product and don't have to support a feature most consumers won't be using anyhow.

The reason there is a rush of bad news is because there was a FAQ released by Sony. I am sure these features will be in an update, considering @yosp said DLNA would be supported some time ago.
Even worse, you need to buy a Music Unlimited subscription to stream music for $60 a month.
Use the spotify web player just to spite them
Not really, they waited till the last minute to say everything so they wouldn't get as bad of backlash like microsoft did.
Going by the big FAQ they released, they still fucked up a lot less than they did this gen, and MS did when they first announced the One. DLNA compatibility would be nice, but it's rarely a make or break for most consumers, weird they are removing it considering the PS3 had it mind. Youtube uploading is going to happen eventually, Google wouldn't ruin it for themselves by restricting it to the One.
Nope.
About a month ago someone asked him if it will support DLNA like the PS3 and he said yes to the tweet. I don't know what would've changed, unless they have it on the back-burner for now. [editline]30th October 2013[/editline] No need to worry! Shu understands our needs. As long as it plays the god damn games I don't really care All the popular LP'ers will already have a proper setup anyway.
Was the title different or are people really getting upset over a launch issue?
This makes me pretty angry. I use my ps3's dlna every day. I hope they'll patch it in later, or I'll just have to keep my ps3 plugged in as well.
Seems I was right: http://couchjockeyz.com/mp3-support-dlna-and-more-features-to-follow-on-2nd-ps4-update/
This all sounds like pretty good news to me. Finally maybe gaming consoles are just gaming consoles again. I don't need 5 separate all inclusive media centres that all do a worse job than a regular-ass computer would. [editline]1st November 2013[/editline]
Seems I was right: http://couchjockeyz.com/mp3-support-dlna-and-more-features-to-follow-on-2nd-ps4-update/
Well nevermind then.
Haven't we moved onto MP4 anyway?
MP4 is not the successor of MP3. M4A/AAC is. [editline]o[/editline] How can you disagree with this? :v:
Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) is a standardized, lossy compression and encoding scheme for digital audio. Designed to be the successor of the MP3 format, AAC generally achieves better sound quality than MP3 at similar bit rates.
This isn't really a big deal for me. I never used those features on the PS3 and I don't see myself using them on the PS4, though at this point I have little doubt they'll patch it in post-launch. Even if you do use things like MP3 streaming I can hardly see it being a deal breaker. If you decided to buy a PS4 you didn't do it so you could listen to music while you play or upload videos to youtube from your console, you did it because it's $100 dollars cheaper that Xbox, or you like the game lineup better, etc.
Steam Machines are looking better every day now.
Was the title different or are people really getting upset over a launch issue?
It was "PS4: No DLNA support or Youtube video uploading" ZachPL had a sensationalist title about the PS4, shocker
It was "PS4: No DLNA support or Youtube video uploading" ZachPL had a sensationalist title about the PS4, shocker
He rated both my posts disagree. It's funny how bad he wants this to be true.
