Lmao esports are a gimmicky that I fully expect to be over by the end of this year
Pretty sure people were saying that around the time of Quake 3 and Starcraft.
Valve has no shame, letting their caster talent wait out at 3 AM for a bus, since there wasn't anyone who could take them back to the hotel and they're going to cast again in 7 hours.. GG Might've just been the Russian hub though, but still wtf.
Pretty sure people were saying that around the time of Quake 3 and Starcraft.
Tournaments existed, sure, but doing huge coverage of people sitting around playing videogames is a gimmick. Hopefully LPs are going away soon too

http://espn.go.com/esports/ Also, what does Let's plays have to do with esports if I do mind asking you?

I also dislike competitive gaming, but that's a side issue
Lmao esports are a gimmicky that I fully expect to be over by the end of this year
you're wrong.
I just think that the phenomenon of people building careers off of playing videogames is a fad. I also dislike competitive gaming, but that's a side issue
You just sound petty for an arbitrary reason. You can think something, but you're up against factual information so what you're saying is basically false, even if you _think_ that way.
Tournaments existed, sure, but doing huge coverage of people sitting around playing videogames is a gimmick. Hopefully LPs are going away soon too
Televised Starcraft events have been a thing since 1999, even getting large enough for it's own dedicated TV channel, but it wasn't on the same scale as Dota or CS:GO.
Tournaments existed, sure, but doing huge coverage of people sitting around playing videogames is a gimmick. Hopefully LPs are going away soon too
This is one of the most petty sounding things I've ever read in SH outside of a political article.
Not to mention all the mic problems. Couldn't find the one with the abyssal demon-screeching tho. Edit: Wait, found it https://www.livecap.tv/t/dotamajor/ug52gLkWZaT
I just think that the phenomenon of people building careers off of playing videogames is a fad. I also dislike competitive gaming, but that's a side issue
a fad that's been on for almost 2 decades?
Hey, this is a thread about the biggest flop in Dota's history not about if e-sport's a viable career choice or not.

Anyone know how to embed tweets?
I suspect this was caused by the Valve mentality of "I only want to work on exciting and specific things". No one was/is assigned to things like this so that's what happened. They probably don't have an emergency phone number to call, or anyone to communicate to.
I wonder if Valve regrets the split up of TI. I know Germany went well but maybe they are gonna restructure it for next events. It must be so bad for all the casters and players. Valve is gonna fire/sue a lot of people.

A rather strange bug. :v:
a fad that's been on for almost 2 decades?
No, it's a fad that dies at the end of every year and comes back at the beginning of the next year.

I don't know how much Valve's hands were tied due to Perfect World publishing Dota in China, but for other regions they will pick better, trusted partners. Who is going to handle Manila? ESL again?
ESL are hosting their own Dota 2 tournament for Manila in late April, so who knows if they pick Manila Major up when it's gonna happen in June. Seems unlikely, to be honest. Wonder what kind of production team Valve can cook up for it.
Lmao esports are a gimmicky that I fully expect to be over by the end of this year
Based on what? esports haven't really died even during the time of cs1.6 which was a very niche market of viewers, let alone now
And here Valve thought James was the most unprofessional part. lmao
But is it as bad as dashcon?
If only Valve had someone on stream to entertain the audience during the delay. Possibly someone loved by the community. Oh wait they fired that someone LOL
If only Valve had someone on stream to entertain the audience during the delay. Possibly someone loved by the community. Oh wait they fired that someone LOL
Is DJ Courier still with them? We could've used him.
I just think that the phenomenon of people building careers off of playing videogames is a fad. I also dislike competitive gaming, but that's a side issue
It's okay buddy not everyone can be good
can you get off your soap box and stop blaming valve? this is literally out of their control, its the tournament organizers, if you even read v1lats tweet
You dont understand this reflects badly on valve regardless.

So who's at fault here? I don't understand who's negligence would lead to such a fuck up.
So who's at fault here? I don't understand who's negligence would lead to such a fuck up.
The company Valve fired initially, possibly this second company though give how they only took control like last night, its hard to really say anything about them yet.
