They did put in a reasonable theory as to why this happened and why would they speak for every single example when they said skin on skin contact is sometimes better? Just get out
Because they use a very vague example that dismisses the massive glaring fact that incubators are almost always better than skin-skin contact. This left a vague notion that the medicalization is causing harm, when in fact the obverse is true. Subtle things matter; tone influences people to a great degree. The overall tone is that the doctor was an idiot and that medical science failed where "natural healing" and "miracles" prevailed. This encourages and promotes magical thinking in healthcare.

Of course anyone that would instantly believe that probably wouldn't be very smart to begin with, they trust their readers more than you, apparently.

It clearly is in favor of so-called "natural medicine" in the overall theme of the article.

I don't mean to be a pessimist but won't the baby have severe brain damage after being starved of oxygen that long?
There's a time and a place. This definitely isn't the place. If you have issues with how the media report health stories, why not tell them. There's nothing anybody on Facepunch can do about that. Tell the Huffington Post, Tell Fox News. It comes across as trolling, not helping.
So you can only comment on silly stories like this if you have something positive to say? [editline]04:18PM[/editline]
You're being paranoid
Except he's not. More and more people in the US won't have their kids vaccinated because of stupid pseudo science like this.
"The doctor asked me had we chosen a name for our son," said Mrs Ogg. "I said 'Jamie' and he turned around with my son already wrapped up and said: 'We've lost Jamie, he didn't make it, sorry'. "It was the worst feeling I've ever felt. I unwrapped Jamie from his blanket. He was very limp."
That doctor was a fucking douchebag. How insensitive.
Yeah, feel free to take credit for my work. Pricks.
That doctor was a fucking douchebag. How insensitive.
What should he have done instead? [editline]05:44PM[/editline] Anyways, fantastic, really warmed me to read this!
Yeah it's totally a fucking miracle, now people are gonna think bullshit like ''god did it''.
And why would people thinking God did it be thinking "bullshit"? Sorry if this starts a flame war, but I can't handle intolerant jerks like you.
I really wonder what would happen if she were to cuddle the afterbirth.
[editline]04:18PM[/editline] Except he's not. More and more people in the US won't have their kids vaccinated because of stupid pseudo science like this.
This is true. I met a guy 2 days ago that started talking about water systems and government and vaccinations and food and he had some misleading information and was taking it as 100% fact without any room for it to be disputed. I didn't offer any of my insight because we were just some friends hanging out and no one needs stupid arguments. But people are easily brainwashed as a mass anytime an "official" source states something.
Sounds like something out of the movie Grace.
And why would people thinking God did it be thinking "bullshit"? Sorry if this starts a flame war, but I can't handle intolerant jerks like you.
Because everything has a physical and natural explanation, there is no such thing as a miracle only extreme improbabilities happening over a large scale of time. Infact thats the very reason you exist in the first place.
I hope the boy didn't get permanent brain damage :(
Because everything has a physical and natural explanation, there is no such thing as a miracle only extreme improbabilities happening over a large scale of time. Infact thats the very reason you exist in the first place.
I'll respect that. Just respect other people's beliefs as well.
I feel warm inside, from the bullshit. Woo bad and probably made up anecdotes, ended by horrible advice that will kill newborns and cause people to mistrust people who actually know what they're talking about.
:frog:
Except he's not. More and more people in the US won't have their kids vaccinated because of stupid pseudo science like this.
If they honestly believe shit like that and the doctors can't convince them, well shit, I guess their kids are going to die :downs: Seriously you guys, give the general populace at least some credit, they're not that dumb
I'm still surprised he's mentally healthy. Although he was gasping for breaths occasionally, I'd imagine his brain would have still been pretty oxygen deprived. Well good on him.
I don't mean to be a pessimist but won't the baby have severe brain damage after being starved of oxygen that long?
I was just about to post this. It may be better to have let it die, rather than living with brain damage.
I'll respect that. Just respect other people's beliefs as well.
It's hard to respect people believing in giant imaginary men in the sky manifesting as plants undergoing combustion telling people to write books about various bullshit stories and then fucking off forever
It's hard to respect people believing in giant imaginary men in the sky manifesting as plants undergoing combustion telling people to write books about various bullshit stories and then fucking off forever
It's hard to believe that the Universe was randomly created out of nowhere, too. Someone/thing had to do it. Oh, and you saying "imaginary" makes you sound like an intolerant Atheist trying to start a fight. Typical.
