I'm not advocating going into war but... the western world seems to have become so complacent with peaceful movements and non-violent protests that it's forgotten the saying "No pain, no gain".
And if it's actually true... turning the saying around - "No gain, no pain" - because the country in question has no useful resources to grab, is pretty damn messed up.
God damn I feel bad for those people in Syria.
Goddamn, someone need to intervene. People are so concerned about Iran maybe having nuclear weapons and will take action about it, but won't help a the people in a country where the government is slaughtering their own citizens.
Syria have agreed to leave Israel alone so don't expect the US to do anything about them.
As for everyone else I think the last thing on anyone's mind is the idea of going into yet another volitile middle eastern country.
Its a shame but thats just the way things are.

he's talking about the snipers, actually.
I'm going to be Captain Obvious here and once again state that the reason we aren't helping is because they don't have any oil.
We promote peace and freedom, as long as there's resources in it for us. Anyone else can just go and die in a feeble rebellion.
I hate western government.
We aren't helping because Russia stationed their shit on Syrian waters to stop any kind of intervention.
[del]Goddamnit, waaay too many fucking campers on that server. "Siege of Homs 24/7 Recon Only" is the worst server ever.[/del]
What the christ, just the way that the article describes the situation makes it seem like those snipers are treating it like it's some sort of sport. That is just wrong on so many levels.
Just wait till those Spies come in to backstab them
Give them armored cars or APCs.

Invade Russia. Problem solved.
This just gives me the urge to buy a gun and a ticket to Syria and find these asshole and shoot them.
I know this totally wouldnt work (ill be dead before I know it) but its nice to think about.
The government says they're combating "armed terrorist groups" while their snipers shoot pregnant women crossing the street? Damn.
Do they actually have any real air capabilities?
Last i read they were "hoping" to improve their situation by getting some new air defense systems from Russia, and were looking forward to purchasing the MiG-29 to improve their air force.
I think this may be like the North Korean situation, where their piece of shit army gets over hyped.
But i could be wrong.
Okay, They might count on the Iranians on for F4s or F14s. You have to consider the fact that the Syrians have a military alliance with the Iranians. The Syrians have Mig 25s, which are very capable interceptors/attack craft, plus Mig 23 floggers, Mig 21 fishbeds and Mig 29 Foxbats plus some older SU craft. The craft are most likely modernized. They have over 10'000 armored units, some very capable ones like the T-80. Also it is important to mention that they have better training and equipment then Gaddafi's forces.

Since when has anyone ever successfully invaded the Russians? (Except for the Mongols)

Invade a world superpower so we can punish a country for cracking down on rebels, sound legit.

You mean the illegal regime change carried out by the internationally recognized NTC supported by NATO and other countries that didn't violate UN Security Council Resolution 1973?
Just to clarify by internationally recognized I mean recognized as legitimate before the end of the civil war by most of the world?

Quite a strange definition of illegal you have there.

The UN resolution allowed protection of civilians not Intervention on the NTC's side. Why did they not shoot down the NTC planes? Why did they not stop the NTC from killing and abusing the residents of Pro gaddafi cities, and the fact that NATO targeted high ranking Officers. They over stepped over the bounds on the resolution, That is Illegal.
Watch out for the snipers, Gordon!

Uh, no? The Germans never made it further than the Ukraine. The Bolsheviks ended the war because they were scrambling to get a government together, though they likely could have given the Germans some resistance had they not signed the treaty.
Napoleon successfully invaded Russia. It was just Russia's lack of admitting defeat along with troubles back in the homeland of France that made the Emperor retreat from the Tsar.
Napoleon successfully invaded Russia. It was just Russia's lack of admitting defeat along with troubles back in the homeland of France that made the Emperor retreat from the Tsar.
Nope. Russia didn't admit defeat because despite the taking of Moscow, they weren't defeated. They had plenty of forces still ready to fight standing battles. In battles like Borodino the Russians could take the losses, the French couldn't. Napoleon's army had already begun the retreat when the Coup arose, and Napoleon himself then left. They couldn't sit on the ashes of Moscow and starve to death, so they retreated. Not only did Napoleon's invasion fail, but it led to his defeat and exile by the coalition.
