Just say he's stupid Abyss....
You can jump on the insult band wagon that's taken place. I ended up jumping on.
So what's next? Lets kill all animal and plant species too? Since we obviously don't need them with our glorious metal bodies.
I forgot the name of this fallacy.
I wish you didn't either, because you're spreading just as much irrelevant dribble at this point.
My most insane rant is still ten times as legible as your scrawlings.

You're doing the same stupid shit I do. You just don't fucking realize it because you're too annoyed the people you're trying to get your point across aren't getting it. Oh wait, that's exactly what I fucking said.

Slippery slope, Straw Man, Ad hominem, take your pick.

Yeah those.

No, I'm doing it because you seem to be incapable of understanding my actual arguments. So I don't see any reason why I should bother making them.
Considering I'm also making arguments on the side and you misunderstand those as well, I feel justified.

Um, as much as I hate all the insults that scorpio spews, you've totally missed the point a few times and are pretty unintelligible, at least from my viewpoint.

Yeah, you're right. I've missed the point and I should not live because it would make it better for humanity. Thanks Scorpio.
what a great debate it was.

Huh.....what actually would be kinda cool is if we could create a place similar to Darwinia.

Its always nessesary on the internet when someone admits their right. Even though I admit I'm wrong all the time. Let him live out his hollow victory.

What I meant was basically you were being submissive to hitlers interpretation of darwinism.

Completely unrelated. I was just rereading the beginning of the article and the only thing that appeared was Darwinia.

Until the viruses show up.
Until the viruses show up.
Well yeah, but there's that anonymous person that comes in to save the day.
There always is.
I don't exactly know what to type, so I'm just gonna go with a stream-of-consciousness type thing here with regards to my thoughts on the article and this potential future for humanity.
I like the idea of tweaking the human body, giving it a few small upgrades. I don't, however, think that using computers for the most part is necessarily the best way to go about this. Genetic engineering could see to it that the human body and brain is upgraded to be much, much better than it currently is. The human brain can already store an entire lifetime's worth of information, remember multiple languages fluently, continuously keep all of the bodies vital processes functioning correctly, and be conscious and self-aware all at once. And it's only about 1200 cubic centimetres in size! I don't doubt that some kind of incredible densely packed neuron cluster could be grown and inserted into your brain in the future to increase storage capacity at the bare minimum (minimum is storage capacity, although it'd be good if computational speed could be increased in the brain with such an insert as well).
That said, I'm not entirely against the idea of using some (I emphasise strongly on the word 'some' here) computerised bits and pieces if necessary, however I believe biological equivalents are superior for the simple fact that a billion or two years of evolution have proved that organic matter is sturdy, determined stuff. Well that, and the fact that it's a lot harder to 'short circuit' a humans nervous system than it is to short circuit a computer (solar flares and whatnot). Organic material is also a lot easier to repair (it self-repairs better, and more naturally non-organic material) than hypothetical computerised counterparts.
Of course nanotechnology (a field which I myself am going into) could one day see to the repairing of computerised parts at a molecular level, however the problem here is that we still have to give nanobots a bit of a 'push' to get them going and do their thing whereas organic molecules, even if not part of a living creature will do crazy shit like nanobots just fucking because. It'd be absolutely fucking awesome if in future we could get nanobots to work that naturally and effectively (hell, maybe I'll have a hand in that?).
The biggest thing I'm against is becoming some kind of group consciousness (if consciousness can even really be 'transferred' in the first place). To be honest, I like having individuality. Sure, combining all of the human consciousnesses in existence into one would allow us to do great things and understand the universes deepest mysteries in a flash, but 'I' wouldn't be the one enjoying it. Plus if we suddenly understood the universe 100%... that'd be it. Game over, man. There'd be nothing else to fucking do. The journey is often times a lot more fun than the destination, don't forget that.
What I would like is some kind of small transmitter/receiver inserted into my skull/brain that would interface with my brain and allow me to connect to the internet or some kind of computing network, but I don't want to be forced to become a PART of such a network (like a big group consciousness as I mentioned above). I'd like to be able to access wikipedia through my brain and have a semi-transparent screen appear in my vision for me to read stuff.
I could ramble on for hours about pros and cons of the singularity and what I would and wouldn't like to see, but I'll leave it at that for now.
Genetic engineer could very well be the best way, however, we don't understand as much about it as we do with computers.
Perhaps with additional computer aided assistance, we could better understand it?.
I think we'll find a way to stop aging before we find a way to fuse people with machines.

There we go, it'll get to the point where our only point for individual existence would be existing.
Life will only be worth what it is, life, no conflict, no more historical events, nothing but having to deal with ourselves.
Nothing
I'm all for it as long as I keep my penis

Everything that you know and feel is caused by messages sent to your brain. With the right technology, these messages can be sent. They could create nerves on these "robot bodies" that when stimulated could send signals to your brain that would replicate the signals that are sent to your brain when you are sexually stimulated in some way. Actually, if they make hyper realistic "robot bodies," you might actually be able to have "sex" without any organs, if there is a port of the "robot" that is modeled after the penis that has contact points that would send the message of sexual arousal to your brain, you essentially would be able to have a "penis."

Unless we find a way to store peoples' information in a pod that never died, I think we're going with the machines.

that explanation was way too fucking long considering the subject
I wasn't even being serious.
Anyway, on the subject, we might not even need mechanical implants and stuff like that, in the near future, humans could greatly expand their lifespans by replacing their damaged organs with organs grown from stem cells and the like.
Now if you're going for immortality, that's a whole different thing.

Even if you stop aging you're still vulnerable to disease and being shot.
