Man youve been here a few months and youre already uptight as hell. Go smoke some weed man.
I'd rather cut my wrists
I'd rather cut my wrists
you'd rather commit suicide?
that sounds like a rational, well reasoned approach.

Sir, have you been on Tumblr at all?
I'd rather cut my wrists
Why would you, given the choice, rather cut your wrists than smoke weed?
Why would you, given the choice, rather cut your wrists than smoke weed?
Cut each wrist once with a plastic knife? Yes.
Or you could y'know just not smoke it if you're so uneducated about it and scared of "reefer madness". I wouldn't cut my wrists over it
>Cutting wrists implies suicide

Yeah and commonly people who slit their wrists do so to punish themselves for something typically irrational, but most are suicidal. You're really not helping yourself here at all.
Also you mentioned tumbler and greentexted in the same post, you really, really aren't helping yourself out here.

Except all of the ones on tumblr have time to take a pretty little picture of it and then upload it.
and as i'm sure you've read before, there's a dozen ways besides smoking plant matter to get high.
You're right and I do agree that it is important to show that the active ingredient of marijuana is not dangerous but the main consumption method of the drug is through smoking as it is the most convenient method of getting it into the blood stream. I do think its important not to downplay the effects of smoking organic matter.
wow how zany this guy uses the greater sign before he types things to show he frequents 4chan.
You're significantly up-playing the negative health risks the paper touts.
As said before, marijuana isn't 100% harmless, but compared to alcohol or tobacco, it's significantly less harmful.
From all the medical journals i've read on the upplayed aspects such as schizophrenia and major damage being caused from it, most of them are just swathed in medical vernacular and makes it sound significantly worse than it actually is.
A few journals claim marijuana use will cause schizophrenia or mental instability. What they actually mean if you read them is: "a large amount of the test subjects experienced paranoia"
I thought the link between marijuana and schizophrenia was unproven.

Oh how i yearn for such blissful ignorance. It must be a more simpler life...
dude who cares if it causes brain damage, what's the point of living if we can't have fun? A lot of things we eat and do every day causes brain damage. we're all gonna die eventually
So does that justify doing lets say, sniffing lacquer thinner or meth?
Going to eat paint
going to die eventually anyways
#YOLO
I mean, that shit's way more extreme but to some people that's the ONLY way to have fun
you kind of should avoid to a small point that shit "just because its fun". Of course even hard drugs are OK if you use it smart and moderately and the pros outweight the cons but just because "things we eat cause brain damage" doesn't mean anything.
So does that justify doing lets say, sniffing lacquer thinner or meth?
Having fun doesn't mean relinquishing your common sense. Yes, some people will take this to the extreme, but I like to think of that as the darwin effect. Most people actually do have a smidge of self-control and could handle drugs safely and still have fun.
So does that justify doing lets say, sniffing lacquer thinner or meth?
Because lacquer and meth are totally exactly the same as marijuana.
I got brain damage reading that site, it's not a news site it's a pseudo science blog. The author quotes himself as a source multiple times, and then wikipedia articles.
I mean come the fuck on
Because lacquer and meth are totally exactly the same as marijuana.
The actual logic is the same, "who cares if it harms me? I'll die anyway."
Hell, if you're happy to smoke weed because "fuck it everyone dies anyway" but against sniffing lacquer because it was too harmful, I'd question your logic.

thankfully, the stupid people will off themselves by doing hard core drugs anyways
even meth is OK to a point of course but I feel "I'll die anyways" seems a little odd to say

That's not the same author. Io9 basically reposted it from somewhere else.

What I should have said is that you shouldn't be afraid of having fun with drugs because of government instilled fear. Most hardcore drugs aren't really that harmful. Heroin, or diactylmorphine, is not neurotoxic, hepatoxic, or cardiotoxic in any way. It's even used as a painkiller in the UK.

glad to know personal blogs are legit new sites now.

But were talking about using that logic in the context of weed however, specifically weed.

look at the blog
the guy is a professor at Berkeley, he has some credentials.
Besides, no one's claiming it's a news site, it's a critique of a study. He's not reporting on an event in the scientific community, he's analyzing the paper. Do you understand the difference?

First, apparantly, fun can only be had on drugs. I mean I just play video games, go to the gym, ride my bike, and fap, but what do I know?
Second, "We're all gonna die eventually" is overused as fuck. Yeah we have an expiration date, but who the fuck cares? I'm in the middle of living.

In reality, "we're all gonna die eventually" could be used to mean you should just do a bunch of retarded shit and kill yourself, but I like to think of it as take a few risks and don't sit in a sheltered life.

All joking aside, I guess it's good that they're calling bullshit on that journal. Love marijuana or hate it, spreading false information about it benefits nobody.
except tobacco companies which is why they lobbied for it to be banned in the first place
-snip-
People do shit that's harmful for them all the time. You don't spend every action of your life trying to extend your life and life quality and ignoring any and all risks.
That's why you guys sound ridiculous for tearing that saying apart

Jack Thompson has a Masters Degree and is a lawyer that's been in supreme court battles, but he's still a babbling nut job.
So if it's not a new site why is it in this section, isn't this for news?
It's not true, I one time got so fucked up I dropped my keys.
