You don't win an argument by failing to disprove the most popular counter-arguement with name-calling lmao. 80% of women crossing into the US are being raped, and as our daddy trump famously said "well somebodies raping them". It's not hard to put 2 and 2 2-gether and source on the green card holder's being caught in the muslim ban as well. I suspect it was a few cases blown way out of proportion.
Just because it's the most popular counter argument doesn't mean it's a good or valid one. And by the way as far as I can tell the study claimed that 80% were raped on their way to the United States and even then wasn't even specifically talking about Mexico so I don't really see how that proves that Mexico is sending hordes of rapists to the US. But considering it's a figure that Donald apparently quoted (and failed to understand the context of, or alternately purposely misconstrued the context) I think I'm starting to understand where you got that idea from. Sources mentioning the ban applying to green card holders and / or green card holders having to undergo further arbitrary vetting http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/donald-trump-muslim-immigration-ban-reince-priebus-green-card-holders-visa-travel-warning-a7552041.html https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/live/2017/jan/28/world-digests-donald-trumps-order-to-ban-refugees-from-muslim-countries http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-immigration-greencard-idUSKBN15C0KX
Holy shit, could you imagine if this actually passed? Probably not a civil war, Republicans would probably just crawl into their holes and bitch about liberals, but it would be the most historic political upset in US history.
More like, civil war by the next morning. You may not take it seriously, but with how polarized politics are at this moment, this country would sincerely enter a civil war period, where people will be purged on the local level by the controlling party in the region.
I love when people try and suggest islamophobia is any better than racism

Nobody can find anything else he did that is actually doing racist things? Wow Im surprised.
Okay so you're saying thats literally the only racist thing he ever did then right? Nobody can find anything else he did that is actually doing racist things?
Nah just the one definitively racist thing he has done but he's said a tonne of racist shit
And again, can you quote him?
guys, X12321 is contributing absolutely nothing. he's coming into a thread dropping the "allegedly" card on criticisms without presenting any reasons why the subject is worth defending, and without giving any solid counterpoints for debate. he is pointing to every hole in the roof where water is pouring through and yelling "you don't know if that's actually rainwater or not!" There's no meaningful discussion happening here, it's just threadshitting, report and move on
it would make the modern republican party disintegrate overnight. The entire right wing would also be completely discredited.
We've been hopefully saying that since Trump gained traction during the election. But now the modern republican party is as encouraged and prominent as ever.

I'm pretty sure calling illegal immigrants from mexico drug dealers and rapists isn't that racist if at all racist.
I'm pretty sure calling illegal immigrants from mexico drug dealers and rapists isn't that racist if at all racist.
Yes. That is highly racist. You are taking something and applying it to a whole race of people. Calling all illegal immigrants coming from Mexico drug dealers and rapists is like saying all Black People are criminals.
Not all illegal immigrants are rapists. [editline]23rd February 2017[/editline] It's like saying all americans are assholes.
I'm pretty sure calling illegal immigrants from mexico drug dealers and rapists isn't that racist if at all racist.
are you fucking kidding me Are you actually joshing me right now
Not all illegal immigrants are rapists. [editline]23rd February 2017[/editline] It's like saying all americans are assholes.
(I'm extrapolating from this post, but not targeting you) Can we drop the qualifier of "not all" and just replace that whole sentence with, "it's incredibly bigoted and xenophobic to automatically label ANY immigrant a rapist"? It is not that hard to have some unbiased judgment here. Understand that a person immigrates because, despite the hardships of crossing the border and resettling, legally or not, it's their best option compared to what's surrounding them at home. I'm saying, these are people looking for opportunity, to better their lives, or salvation, from the destruction of their lives. It is literally prejudice to label any of them anything except "person trying to enter a different country" if you haven't got an introspective view of their lives. Ugh this is elementary shit. Yes, you are speaking racist beliefs when you retort that "it isn't racist" to label immigrants rapists and drug dealers in a blanket fashion.
Yes. That is highly racist. You are taking something and applying it to a whole race of people. Calling all illegal immigrants coming from Mexico drug dealers and rapists is like saying all Black People are criminals.
i feel his statement is more xenophobic than racist as Mexican is a nationality, not a race. if he had said latino or hispanic, that'd be racist
Yes. That is highly racist. You are taking something and applying it to a whole race of people. Calling all illegal immigrants coming from Mexico drug dealers and rapists is like saying all Black People are criminals.
An illegal immigrant isnt a race, its an immigrant that is in the country illegaly. Thats like trump calling all car thiefs from georgia drug users or something. He would be technically correct calling all illegal immigrants criminals because thats the definition of what an illegal is, someone who broke the law to live in the country. If he was talking about mexicans and mexican immigrants it would be a different story and be xenophobic.
i feel his statement is more xenophobic than racist as Mexican is a nationality, not a race. if he had said latino or hispanic, that'd be racist
Xenophobia and racism are highly linked and very similar. That's just really a question of semantics more than anything.
Not all illegal immigrants are rapists. [editline]23rd February 2017[/editline] It's like saying all americans are assholes.
I'm sure they're not but that doesn't make it a racist statement.
Holy shit is arguing semantics the only way people can defend this asshole?
I'm sure they're not but that doesn't make it a racist statement.
So you admit it's racist but saying it somehow isn't a racist statement? can you explain how?
So you admit it's racist but saying it somehow isn't a racist statement? can you explain how?
I never admitted that it was racist, this is the definition of racism:
prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.
That statement does not meet that definition so stop calling it racist because that's just not true.
This is how Bernie can still win.
And here comes Bernie Sanders with the steel chair!
Xenophobia and racism are highly linked and very similar. That's just really a question of semantics more than anything.
i agree that xenophobia and racism are quite linked. personally i think xenophobia and racism are on the same level so i was mostly arguing to be a pedantic fuck rather than anything. i just personally think that pooling all mexicans together as a single race is a bit of a generalization in itself as mexican is a national identity and not tied to race.
i feel his statement is more xenophobic than racist as Mexican is a nationality, not a race. if he had said latino or hispanic, that'd be racist
"Race" was originally used to distinguish people from different nations or who spoke different languages. It was entering the 18th Century in the Enlightenment, ironically, that "Race" began being used for groups of physical attributes. Racism and Xenophobia in fact are related.
I don't understand why white people are afraid of becoming a minority in the near future. Are minorities treated badly in this country or something?
i agree that xenophobia and racism are quite linked. personally i think xenophobia and racism are on the same level so i was mostly arguing to be a pedantic fuck rather than anything. i just personally think that pooling all mexicans together as a single race is a bit of a generalization in itself as mexican is a national identity and not tied to race.
Perhaps but race and national identity can also be sometimes synonms based on context. To add onto this tangent it might be more correct to say Trump is sectarian towards Muslims rather than racist.
I don't understand why white people are afraid of becoming a minority in the near future. Are minorities treated badly in this country or something?
I wish we had other ratings than a star, because this one deserves a zing.
I don't understand why white people are afraid of becoming a minority in the near future. Are minorities treated badly in this country or something?
Well fuck, I mean South Africa and Zimbabwe went swimmingly.
