Not like I can play Zelda on anything else.
Oh no, the Wii U is being buried by Nintendo so hard that's it's starting to be retroactively erased from people's minds.
Pre-ordering something that has limited stock and high demand that won't be restocked for a while makes practical sense because you're trying to make sure you can actually get one, as opposed to ordering an often digital product which is utterly meaningless because it saves you little time.
Yeah, I'm not disagreeing with you.
You could be patient
Or maybe some of us already know we want the titles that it launches with/are coming out shortly after? I get it, you guys are financially responsible and all that but some of us seriously don't mind the gamble. EVERYONE is aware of the risks of preordering at this point, we don't need a refresher every time the word preorder is mentioned
You could be patient
Nah I'm good thanks
I feel like this is a good sign for the future of the Switch
This would make sense if it was a small amount of consoles, but since it surpassed PS4, chances are it's not going to be Scalpers as the majority.
If nintendo didn't make enough for the demand then it likely will Preorders don't mean anything if they don't make enough consoles
Pre-ordering a new console with like 6 launch titles and a questionable future instead of buying a PS4 with a decent library of games is a huge gamble, Swedes are weird
This is comparing Switch pre-orders right now to PS4 pre-orders 3 years ago when it launched.
Well at this point in the industry, I wouldn't be surprised if a "Switch 4k" or similar upgrade comes out in a year. Video game consumers get punished pretty hard for early adoption.
Nintendo doesn't really do that, except for maybe that slimmed out version of the wii that was only for I think Canada. [editline]24th January 2017[/editline] Ignoring the handhelds for now.

[editline]24th January 2017[/editline] Ignoring the handhelds for now.
Sony and Microsoft never did it before this generation either, though. [editline]24th January 2017[/editline] There's a SMALL chance the Switch is packing Thunderbolt in that USB-C port in which case it's possible they might come out with a dock containing a co-processor/secondary gpu in the future, which there is sort of precedent for with the N64 RAM expansion, but the whole thing is kind of a stretch.
It's too early for Switch to claim victory based on pre-order numbers. You know what else sold out worldwide before launch? Wii U. Wii U also beat Wii's first month sales, so at the time it seemed like Wii U was a hit. And then it dropped like a rock and never recovered. Now Wii U is largely considered a failure. We've still got some waiting to do to see if Switch can actually stay in the air after it gets off the ground. The hype is huge, for sure, but it has to keep that momentum going even after launch if it doesn't want to end up like Wii U.
I'm starting to think that people forget their values if it's for something they like. Never, ever pre-order shit. I've made that mistake too many times and I've learned from it. Haven't so many people on Facepunch been up in arms about preordring? Where are they in the Nintendo crowd?
Maybe it's because they haven't been burned by it and/or they never had anything against it in the first place? Hell, when I see a developer fuck up a game's release they go right on my "don't preorder from" list unless they've got a demo out that I can play right at the moment, but I still go for the occasional preorder. For example: Resident Evil 7 came out today, and it's sitting in my PS4 as I type this. I mean shit, my worse preorders were CoD: MW3 and Fallout 4, both of which I got my money's worth out of (and that latter I'm sure I'll be playing more later whenever hardware that can actually run the game at a solid 60 FPS gets cheap enough for me to afford) despite them being failures compared to their predecessors, My biggest regrets were from games that were already released in one form or another.
Well at this point in the industry, I wouldn't be surprised if a "Switch 4k" or similar upgrade comes out in a year. Video game consumers get punished pretty hard for early adoption.
Then a year rolls by, the switch 4k hasn't even had a breath muttered about it, but there you are, sat at the pc adamant it will come whilst everyone has been enjoying the console you want to enjoy but you'd rather wait for a rumour. It's a $300 console, I'd understand if it was a $30k car
Sony and Microsoft never did it before this generation either, though.
The PS2 Slim/PS3 Slim/Super Slim/Xbox Elite/Xbox Slim all have something to say to you.
Nintendo doesn't really do that, except for maybe that slimmed out version of the wii that was only for I think Canada. [editline]24th January 2017[/editline] Ignoring the handhelds for now.
The mini was also sold in the USA. I still see a ton at gamestops. Pretty nice re-release imo.
Well at this point in the industry, I wouldn't be surprised if a "Switch 4k" or similar upgrade comes out in a year. Video game consumers get punished pretty hard for early adoption.
I'm actually hopeful that, if rumor is believed to be true, developers will take advantage of 4K output support as apparently that's possible on the Switch. While I don't see gamedevs taking advantage of it, media companies like Netflix and Prime would be all over that. And I do have hopes that it's possible, USB-C is currently the swiss blade knife of the hardware industry so anything's possible.
