Comcast is the largest internet provider in the USA as of now. Companies are going to take them as a model, saying hey if comcast can do it, so can i. so it'll start off slow, and it'll get faster and bigger as the time moves forward.
the fcc tried to protect us, but they sadly failed.
...and back with our breaking news topic of the day: The CEO of Comcast has been found dead in his home, allegedly bludgeoned to death with Comcast high speed internet modems
...and now for sports!
And then, behold. The internet companies merged into one: The SuperNet. STARTING AT ONLY 199.99 A MONTH!
Guess I'll actually have to go outside now.

If you mean to burn down their offices then I'm in. The sooner I get my free internet back the better.

Holy shit, the best avatar/post combo ever.
I'm not sure how bad throttling actually is, if P2P networks use so much bandwidth they slow down everyone else massively how is that fair? 'Neutrality' goes both ways, ISP's shouldn't be able to charge more for using certain services, but a subset of users shouldn't be able to use a disproportionate amount of bandwidth...
The FCC has found itself in the ridiculous situation of attempting to regulate broadband without the authority to do so unless the agency takes strong and decisive action to “reclassify” the service under the Communications Act.
Here’s the deal: under the Bush FCC, the agency decided to classify and treat broadband Internet service providers the same as any Internet applications company like Facebook or Lexis-Nexis, placing broadband providers outside of the legal framework that traditionally applied to the companies that offer two-way communications services.
That’s the loophole that let Comcast wiggle out from under the agency’s thumb.
Change it back
There’s an easy fix here: The FCC can change broadband back to a “communications service,” which is where it should have been in the first place. By reclassifying broadband, all of these questions about authority will fall away and the FCC can pick up where it left off – protecting the Internet for the public and bridging the digital divide.
According to savetheinternet.com it's a rather easy fix, but then again nothing is ever simple.
;21214397']If Comcast starts fucking with my internet, I'm switching companies.
Welcome to why even if they have the power to limit access, they can't actually use it.
Capitalism 101.
please tell me comcast will lose customers in droves for this.
They're like the only ISP in my area :(
Not Cuntcast, Cockmast.
I'll leave Comcast when they stop being the best choice by far.
They have always been up front with me about any limitations on my connection and the bandwidth limits are not only larger than I need, but are only even enforced if bandwidth is actually an issue. I've never had a problem with bit torrent on them and I doubt it will change any time soon.
I have some of the best service up time I've ever had with a provider.
I mean if you want to cart some Fios down here or something similar, I'll gladly switch over, but until then comcast beats the pants off other cable providers.
Pretty much this for me right now. Fios isn't even offered where I live, and the only other option is Windstream, which went out for days at a time here. It was horrible.
If this ever happens, 4chan should create a physical army and stockpile assault rifles.
We need to send rocketmanshieldguy (AKA Jude LAW) to Comcast HQ.
At&t bitches >:D
They're like the only ISP in my area :(
Find some sort of loophole. That's how I have my internet and not having to pay $70 a month for shitty internet from a local ISP.

Imagine there only being 60 websites you could visit.
That's the most depressing thought I've had today.
it's becoming even more of a reality.
I would be fucking pissed if that actually ever happens.
It wouldn't be an instant thing. The ISPs would slowly and gradually implement this. First they would make it optional as an "Easier browsing experience" and it would most likely be something like 12.99 a month. Then they would start jacking up the prices of the other plans that weren't like this until you get exhibit A^ plus an "Unlimited plan" which would probably be something like 99.99 a month.
Why does everyone hate me.
Because comcastic isn't a real world.......

I actually saw the episode. and when ever it comes to the internet. be it CNN, Fox, some other news network. It just seem like they don't understand the internet.

they don't limit the amount of websites you can visit
you can still visit any website, they'll just charge you
it's like roaming fees for cellphones.

Oh! That makes everything so much better :downs:
Looking forward to have more choices around where I live. Is Verizon internet any good? Maybe this summer I'll look into it if it's not shit.
Everyone already hates Comcast, and I hope this is the straw that breaks the camel's back.

It's all speculation that doesn't actually fit with proper business models.
You have no idea what they are going to do.

Not for the millions of people that have to choose between Comcast or dial-up.
