whenever i hear about gamergate or SJWs or feminism it's like some shit out of idiocracy there's this alternate universe on a social media platform that enforces a 114 character limit designed to promote the lowest common denominator of every discussion where for some reason a grown ass adult named anita sarkeesian has posed as the world's most unfortunate representative of a good but complicated cause, exploiting it by presenting it in its least nuanced and most abbreviated form possible to a medium and audience that was largely devoid of the context and information required to decrypt it in the first place (including tumblr tweens) so she can commodify their outrage to increase her own publicity which she misguidedly thinks is publicity for her cause. meanwhile the rest of the world goes on having an entirely separate conversation punctuated by prayers that the entire debate hasn't already been subverted in the public intellect for a future generation. pointless.

I agree that it's beyond stupid, but it's silly to think that TONS of people don't fully agree with her. It actually doesnt help anything and saying its "academic" as an excuse really comes off as rather pretentious(not calling you that) Because if you start applying it to actual issues, its gonna start to get really 1 sided really quickly. If you believe for whatever reason, sexism against men doesnt exist then your going into whatever problems you wanna tackle biasedly. If this is what academics are teaching then people getting into these humanities field then its a serious ripoff.
