By no means am I trying to insult anyone who purchases Apple products
well the other kid was. that's why he's the one with dick feelings.
And is there really any conclusive evidence pointing to a slower Android UI that's not on a personal basis?
no of course not. just like there's no conclusive evidence pointing out that bjork is better than radiohead or something. it's pretty arbitrary so to make lists explaining why you like something really only helps people that agree with you and absolutely no-one else.
no of course not. just like there's no conclusive evidence pointing out that bjork is better than radiohead or something. it's pretty arbitrary so to make lists explaining why you like something really only helps people that agree with you and absolutely no-one else.
I wouldn't say that. Sure being a dick to existing Apple customers isn't going to help anyone, but by providing factual, measurable advantages of not buying Apple products he could sway anyone looking to buy a smartphone or PC in the future.
by providing factual, measurable advantages of not buying Apple products he could sway anyone looking to buy a smartphone or PC in the future.
the problem with this thinking is that it assumes everyone is stupid. people know the advantages and disadvantages, it just isn't relevant to them. people who wanna work with movies or music and prefer the programs on the mac are gonna go with macintosh regardless of how much you inform them of how much cheaper building a computer yourself would be. and that's exactly the mentality, in some people's mind everyone who uses A is doing the right thing so people using B must be dumb or ignorant for not using the same thing. it's nobodies business and all it'll do is just start useless bickering about how MACS DON'T HAVE RIGHT CLICK or WINDOWS IS FULL OF VIRUSES.

You may find it intrusive or insulting, but there's always the chance that someone is going to take a word of advice into consideration.
uh that's not true i bought it because i liked the interface more while i didn't like the android's interface at all and all the other smart phones are shit to me. rounded edges aren't an aesthetic.

no it's the fact that the interface in android was slow for me and it took me longer to do something than it would on the iphone. look, all this shit about SD cards, jailbreaking, OS controls, file system, i'm not gonna pretend that i'd use them because i wouldn't. the whole problem is everyone's utter arrogance on this forum. if you insult users of anything based on blatant ignorance (you can insult crackheads and nazi's) you're just being an asshole. this is how easy it is to be nice and respectful please say it out loud with me: I think that people who use Android do so because it fits their needs and thus informed their decision to do so. I think that people who use iPhones do so because it fits their needs and also informed their decision to do so. Both of these are worthy choices as a smartphone and I respect anyone who makes a decision based on their likes. repeat until you no longer have dick feelings.
I don't mean to shit on your parade, but you just changed your reasoning for picking the iPhone. First you said it was pretty over androids' interface, now you're trying to justify your response so you don't look like a complete retard for choosing an shiner object. But from what I experienced at a store, Androids' interface wasn't slow at all, it was about the same speed as the iPhone 4(including loading something).
You go HTC. Sue their lying sorry asses off. Fuck you Apple, and all you stand for.
You're an idiot. Apple sues competitor: "FUCK APPLE THEY ARE TRYING TO CHEAT OUT OF COMPETITION!" Competitor sues Apple: "FUCK YEAH THIS IS TOTALLY A JUST CAUSE!"
First you said it was pretty over androids' interface
no i didn't i said i liked it more because android was slow for me and didn't do what i want it to did you read what you quoted???
no i didn't i said i liked it more because android was slow for me and didn't do what i want it to did you read what you quoted???
Your first and second replies are completely different from each other. Maybe you should read your own posts.
Your first and second replies are completely different from each other. Maybe you should read your own posts.
uhm if you say so
Sure... when Apple gets sued it's great, but when they sue someone like Samsung its bad... ok guys. Facepunch never ceases to surprise. [sp] I threw up in my mouth while typing that :v:[/sp]
It has to be so hard to try and develop a phone and make sure you aren't breaking any patent laws.
You're an idiot. Apple sues competitor: "FUCK APPLE THEY ARE TRYING TO CHEAT OUT OF COMPETITION!" Competitor sues Apple: "FUCK YEAH THIS IS TOTALLY A JUST CAUSE!"
I don't know, maybe because apple sues and lies while they do it?
You're an idiot. Apple sues competitor: "FUCK APPLE THEY ARE TRYING TO CHEAT OUT OF COMPETITION!" Competitor sues Apple: "FUCK YEAH THIS IS TOTALLY A JUST CAUSE!"
I don't see the problem with this, there are plenty of other devices on the market right now, and I really do think Apple deserve it.
no it's the fact that the interface in android was slow for me and it took me longer to do something than it would on the iphone.
When 2 GHz quad core ARMv9 and Cortex A15s are already rumored to land by March of next year, and quad-core ARM cores already being produced by the end of this year, and 720p screens on Androids, along with Ice Cream Sandwich bringing a bunch of new crap to optimize Android even further, you can bet your ass that this will no longer be true. People like to say how snappy iOS is, but the inherent problem with closed systems is that you just don't have the monstrous pace of hardware, even if the OS is a bit quicker, it can't make up for the fact that the hardware running on it is half the speed of a platform that may be 5-10 percent slower in general tasks. This is just as true now as it was with OS X and PPC hardware. Even now, OS X continues to fall behind on general hardware advancements. If you can't figure out something, basically you're doing exactly what would make sense, which is in this case, pressing the menu button in the application and searching for settings, or going to Android settings to see if you can find it. Please list exact examples of what takes longer on Android vs iOS. I've extensively used iOS before, over about two weeks, and I have a pretty good idea of how it works. I find the settings system centralized but a gigantic clusterfuck in terms of ease of finding what you need. I find the notification system intrusive. I think the browser is poor and the lack of choice for browser is appalling, because I like the ability to keep Firefox on my phone to see what tabs I had open. I think the keyboard and it's autocorrect system also unintuitive, with inconsistencies (ie in phone search you can't use horizontal keyboard but in Safari you can? Why is there no trace/Swype style keyboard? Why can't I add words to the dictionary myself like the Gingerbread keyboard? Why can't I see alternate choices for autocorrect?). Other annoying niggling things include being unable to control Wi-Fi sleep (iOS automatically turns off Wifi a bit after you shut off the screen), being unable to do a download greater than 20 mb on the App Store, having to authenticate your user when updating and downloading apps, an appalling lack of live widgets, a UI design that can only be described as an app drawer for home screens, and a general inability to actually have my phone DO anything useful. Is it that hard to have iOS with the equivalent functionality of Mac OS X in a sharply dressed Mobile suit? We're in an era where smartphones are rapidly reaching a standard of 1 GB of RAM, and iOS steadfastly makes true multitasking a nonstarter. iOS made sense at first, but now it's inability to move it's apps into a seamless multitasking system means they're stuck with the path they've taken unless they decide to completely obsolete all current apps in their store. At some point we will be reaching 1.5-2GB of RAM available, and when that happens Android will work seamlessly, but iOS will underutilize it. iOS works around the belief that somehow if we let applications sync in the background this will forever ruin battery life and we will get 5 hours out of a phone, but in Android with properly set up sync settings, you might have the phone awake and running 2 percent of the time if you keep the screen closed the entire time, and WiFi will extend the battery life even more. Also if you can't be bothered to read just the teensiest bit about utilities like Accounts & Sync and Battery History to figure out what is causing poor battery life in Android, you're going to run into trouble, but if you install applications knowing full well what they do (ie Trillian for Android will actively download your conversation when you're on the desktop chatting and this will destroy battery life), and take appropriate action, then you'll be draining around 23 percent battery over a 25 hour period, which means you get around 4 days of pure idle time, or about 4 hours of screen on time max, and this is with the Desire HD, an Android notorious for being shit in battery life. [editline]18th August 2011[/editline] Forgot to mention that if you really want iOS functionality where leaving an application immediately kills it, just turn on Aggressive task-killing mode in an application called Spare Parts. The problem though is that it'll kill your home screens every time you leave it, and many things don't work properly. [editline]18th August 2011[/editline] What's equally hilarious about people who buy Mac OS X is that for desktops you can buy a USB header chip that will let you run OS X on "standard" PCs, assuming they have drivers for their hardware.
don't bust a nut dude
don't bust a nut dude
If you fail to counter someones argument, respond with that, good one!
Oh wow, the irony. I guess that's karma for all the lawsuits that Apple makes. Motorola Droid X represent!
~Text~
You are aware iOS has multitasking as of iOS 4 right? It doesn't kill the app when you leave it! If you're going to criticize something, at least be up to date on it. Also, iOS 5 is coming out next month and will have a completely revamped notification system.

Android knocks all suspended apps into the background and culls them only when CPU/RAM usage becomes an issue.
Fuck you Apple, fuck you long and hard.
Unless Steve Jobs grew a vagina due to his cancer, you'll probably have a hard time with that.
Apple fucked around, they sued to ensure their place at the top, now the shoe is on the other foot, and boy, do I hope they shove that shoe far up Apple's ass.
Bullshit. I have 20 Apps running right now
"unless it is porgrammed to do so" Not to mention the iPhone is underclocked and has half the amount of RAM as all modern smartphones.
"unless it is porgrammed to do so" Not to mention the iPhone is underclocked and has half the amount of RAM as all modern smartphones.
1: Well then every app is programmed to do so apparently 2: No shit, it's because it's old! The new one comes out next month and will catch up with all the dual core processors and 1080p cameras and all that useless shit
1: Well then every app is programmed to do so apparently 2: No shit, it's because it's old!
"unless it is porgrammed to do so" Not to mention the iPhone is underclocked and has half the amount of RAM as all modern smartphones.
But does it show? Nope. iOS is very well made.
They're both good companies and both make good products. Apple users will continue buying Apple products and other people will buy other products. I guess you've gotta find what's best for you. What's best for me is a MacBook Air and Google Chrome and I don't spend my time trying to convince people anything I use is better than what's best for them.
Amen. It's kinda like having an argument about which religion is right, it's pointless.
It's not proper multitasking, an app will not continue running in the background unless it is porgrammed to do so. I have angry birds and tiny tower running in the background right now.
Like hell, Apple wouldn't get their lovely huge profit margin by putting DECENT hardware in it.
They do! At the time, the iPhone 4 was one of the fastest smartphones. It's just that Apple's business model focuses on large upgrades every year whereas Android phone producers come out with a new phone every fucking month
