Rape Declared a "Pre-Existing Condition" by Insurance Company

Hell, it's not rape if they're dead.
Come on, if you are worried about rape, take self defense classes. There's no reason why we insurance companies have to pay for your mistakes. :smug:
how are you supposed to defend yourself when youre drugged?
You're just as bad as those banking managers and their bonus deals, whilst the rest of the world is being crippled due to financial shortages.

Part of the reason health care costs so much is because the patient really doesn't know how much a trip to the doctor costs since somebody else is paying for it. If people knew that it would cost as much as it does, people would be outraged at doctors. Instead they're outraged at the companies who are paying for their health care costs because the insurance companies can't afford to pay for it either. Doctors would lower their prices if patients had to pay for their own health care instead of bleeding out insurance companies.
Considering America was founded on independence from government and self sufficiency you'd think that Americans would be more willing to take care of themselves. As much as I like the Constitution, I think it got the ball rolling on the expansion of government and the welfare state. I'd be willing to go back to the Articles of Confederation.

Also, it's funny how most people here believed the sensationalistic title. She wasn't denied because she got raped, she was denied because she has HIV. Had it been consentual sex, and gotten HIV this wouldn't even be a news story.
Nobody cares that she got raped; that's not a health problem, but HIV is. Unless you're Magic Johnson, you're going to get AIDS and either way you're medical costs are going to be through the roof. I don't know where she gets the idea that Insurance companies are charities.

You referenced the Huffington Post.
Regardless of the truth behind this story, the reference essentially made the whole thing invalid. I would sooner agree with someone citing the Onion.
Lovely, another reason to support my misanthropy.
Not the world, AMERICA. And people don't want Obama's Health care reform bill. God you ppl are STUPID!
Obama's health care bill is retarded. That's why people don't want it.
I'm just curious. Why do you think Obama's health care plan is retarded?
I'm just curious. Why do you think Obama's health care plan is retarded?
Sorry, not Obama's plan, the bills currently trying to get passed in Congress. They got rid of the Public Option and the bill will force people to buy insurance. It won't fix costs, only make them worse.
Yeah, it should be illegal for somebody to refuse business, even if they end up losing money.

HEY EVERYBODY
PvtCupcakes thinks it's ok to discriminate against people because they've been raped
no he thinks it's not okay to fuck around with private industry
this isn't Europe, you can't just violate people's livelihoods
She could have noticed her company was evil in the first place.
Boba_fett here with another horribly stupid free-market apologist post here.

She got raped, she did not want to get raped, from this act that she did not want to happen to her, she got HIV. Is it right to not help someone who had an act committed on them with out them wanting it to happen?
another car example
If your sitting at a red light and someone slams in to the rear of your car at 30 mph, and totals your car, should you not get the money from the totaled car? By the (health) insurance company's logic, no, because you did not do anything to prevent the accident.
It's amazing how people are still being duped into opposing health reform when we're constantly getting reports of insurance companies pulling shit like this. Why is anyone in favor of letting this go on?
It's incredible how the capitalistic swines let this happen. The Glorious Communist Revolution shall soon come... Soon...
hey everybody
the straw man is here
HURP DURP MAI NAEM IS OBAMA AND I KANT WAIT TO TAKE THE MONEY FROM ORICH PEEPLE ROLFOFL COMMUNISM4LIFE
[editline]06:41PM[/editline]
Look, the profits of the health insurance companies are a nil point. They don't fucking matter. They are, in essence, hired to do a job because we think they can do that job better than the government. If they can't, then fuck them with an iron mace. Because there's no point in a health system that actively seeks to not help you get better.
So, we can either go with Obama's plan to regulate them like fuck, or we can give the job to government, who at least have no clear motivation for actively denying care.
And this is why Obamacare is the way forward

That is a word uttered only by extremely stupid or ignorant people.
I really hope you're just the latter.

I like the word because if someone says it, you can instantly know you shouldn't bother listening to them. Just like "Porkulus" and "Homosexual Agenda".

Anything you get during birth like Cerebral Palsy or anything like that gets you denied coverage, you didn't want that to happen to yourself and you couldn't avoid it but it happens anyways.
This however is too far.
Then where does Yog-Sothoth come in?
He secretly replaced Nixon when no one was looking.
This is why the government needs to step in and do something about health insurance.
However, I don't really fault the insurance companies; insurance is basically gambling, the insurance provider is betting that you won't get sick. If you get raped, your odds aren't too good, so you get nothing. It's simple math.

The other person's car insurance pays for it. Your own car insurance won't have to pay for it.

Because nobody reports the cases that reflect positively on the insurance companies. The only thing you ever hear is the occasional negative story.
death to all health insurance companies. drag the ceos from their offices and execute them in the middle of a hospical filled with terminally ill patients.
Hello FBI agents reading this! How are you doing today?
You thing they'd care about that?
They didn't give a damn when I posted that I was planning to assassinate the President of the United States with a mortar attack on the White House.
OH SNAP!!! :v:
But, seriously, it's a pretty fucked up system Nixon created. Dissolve the HMOs or put them under government control.
