Yes but it is not as universal as compared to NK. At the very least the US has welfare programs in place and the country is not always on the verge of a coup. At least in the US you have the option to change the channel from FOX

yea i agree. someone else brought it up so i decided to refer to it. i don't really look at it with any actual weight.
Our culture celebrates family and friends like duck, all our holidays face huge family focuses, school has massive friendship making focuses, I agree that some places are dangerous, but that isn't really a uniform objective effect on all humans in the USA, but yeah okay, the media has only gotten me into a state of fear once, hardly a reason for instability.

well the extent that we really have those choices(switch one sensationalist network for another? that's hardly a choice).
but either way, things like stability and security are subjective. someone might consider a place like the ussr under stalin to be very secure, another person might say it is hardly secure at all because you live in fear of the government.
so it's hard to say how truly free or secure we are, because different people feel different restraints put on them.

we could go on for days and derail the thread so i will respectfully disagree and leave it at that. if you want to continue you can pm me or w/e
Nothing will happen. Every.single.time North Korea does something edgy like barrages the north, sinks a ship, or declares the armistice invalid everybody gets all riled up and it's "oh no srsly guys there's definitely gonna be a war this time."
And then nothing happens. Guess what, nothing is going to happen.

Oh get off your sensationalist high-horse, you have the internet, you can look up any news organization in the world.

crime is at the lowest (or almost the lowest) it has been ever

Well the only reason I have to disagree with America using nukes if NK does would be to reduce the amount of radioactive fallout.
From what I understand japan might get hit by cloud of radiation if they start setting off nukes over land in korea, and even if they don't there would be one hell of an ecological/radiological mess for the next 50 years if they start fighting with them.

only if you pay extra.
NK: Would you like to play a game US?
US: Let's play Chess.
NK: How about Global Thermonuclear War?
---Hour Later---
NK: A strange game the only winning move is not to play.

I have to say that okay an EMP that'd work on a tiny tiny tiny range. You'd need to physically walk into a missile silo and detonate an electromagnetic pulse.
If NK launches a nuke on the US then the US will fire a nuke at NK targetting specific targets rather than NK's UN target thus hurting NK more. We know the US won't fuck around we saw Truman's A-Bomb before. Maybe this will finally show NK what happens when you play with fire.
Good luck US!
Will be watching you from Scotland :)
First of all, North Korea has declared the armistice invalid before. However, what we're dealing with is a younger, crazier, and dumber NK dictator.
I think I figured out what North Korea's planning...
They've been hyping up on the attack they're gonna launch tomorrow, on the 12th of march....
....just in order to ruin the launch of Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm for all South Koreans.
Looks like Jong Un had his ass kicked in starcraft one too many times.
North Korea are acting like one of those really shitty but really arsey nations on Civ.
(I'm looking at you, Ghandi)
Wow we aren't even out of afghanistan, perpetual war is an understatement.

More like
NK: "hey US"
US: "wat"
NK: "FUCK YOU"
US: "what are you even saying"
NK: "what"

Uh no its not the US might as well be 10 astronomical units from North Korea with how crappy their missiles are. Even in the Korean peninsula, we do have anti-missile emplacements, and not just stationary ones. Yes there's the threat of artillery pieces, but the WMDs are not as big a threat. They're not completely out of the picture, but it's not like the US/ROK didn't think about nuclear weapons being employed by the North.

wait what
If NK launches a nuke on the US then the US will
Shoot it down. With, you know, the most sophisticated array of anti-missile technology on the planet. Or, you know, the most powerful and most sophisticated navy on the planet.

plz no
A nuclear attack on Seoul is well within their means.
Kinda dumb firing so close to home though.

God dammit Ron from Arizona.
If North Korea was locked in a room with a rock, they'd accuse it of instigating a war.
Fuck man, apparently N.Korea has been infiltrated to determine just how far their "nuclear arsenal" spans.
...It's bad news lads, old weapons are still dangerous weapons.

ignoring the fact that nuclear weapons have only been used twice in the history of warfare, both by the united states

Wow, not for a while. That's fine, great things come to those who wait.
So basically North Korea just declared war on the south? If the armistice is invalid, then there is no peace agreement.
