I feel sorry for the kid. Something screwed up inside his head to convince him it was a good idea to bring a gun to school. I don't blame the police, since I don't have the full story I can't say if the force was necessary or not. And 8th grader should know the difference between right and wrong. I mean, most 8th graders will probably be driving in 9th, they're teenagers
It's what the article is called. Idiot.
Bad excuse
they should have just shot him once to disable him
Really tired of this "disabling shot" stuff. I realize that you're not advocating it, it just irks me and it comes up in every thread like this In order to make a shot like that, you need some serious training. You need to know the absolute precise area to shoot, and you have to make that split second decision on when to fire. Humans are constantly moving; even the slightest edge to the right or left makes a difference when you're talking bullets. You have to think of where to target, blood loss, hydrostatic shock, and trauma to whatever part of the body you've chosen to fire at in order to disable the shooter, by which point the shooter has probably already fired at you or others. In any case, you shouldn't draw your firearm unless you are prepared on every level to kill. Disabling shots just get people killed, on both sides of the gun.
school was already on lockdown when the three shots took place, i figured those three shots were from the police?
There are not enough details to truly make any conclusion, but regardless, if you bring a gun to school expect to be held at gun point and possible be shot. Police are highly trained on when it is appropriate to discharge their weapon and obviously, they took action because they or someone else life was threaten. Bringing a gun to school is no joke and taken extremely, extremely serious. It is the job of the school and local government to protect the kids at all costs.
stop making stupid misleading titles you idiots
The title isn't misleading, police shot and killed an 8th grader. The only way you may get confused or feel misled is you come in with the assumption that police shot the kid for shits and giggles.
I think we'd all appreciate a little background information on this kid, because this sounds very much like a "suicide by cop" situation. He came to school with a handgun, probably knowing well on that the police would be summoned? Probably one of several rational explanations.

Disabling shots just get people killed, on both sides of the gun.
I hate when people say "I shoot to disable" or even mention these stupid shots. Guns are designed to kill, they're used as a last resort to protect and save the live of the user. You shoot at center mass because you're less likely to miss and it is the most effective way to kill. People don't fucking realize shooting paper at a range on a stationary target is completely different then shooting a moving target. Shooting to disable is only going to create more problems and get yourself killed or worse someone else. That is why we have have less then lethal options. If you don't think you can handle shooting someone then don't get a gun. Buy pepper spray/OC or a taser. If that does not do it for you, just get your ass kicked and deal with it. When I hear people say shit like that I just facepalm so hard. These are the type of people that are going to get some by-stander killed. I knew a guy who thought a CHL class, once they got in to the guts of the class and learned the most important aspects. He asked "How many will you shoot to wound/disable" the ones that raised their hands got kicked out of the class and didn't get a CHL. Sounds like an asshole thing to do, but it is safer if they don't have guns. He was in 8th grade, by then most kids know what is right and wrong. They know what will get them in trouble or not. Kids are not stupid.
Only in America.
Bet the kid was black. You think it mistook the gun for a banana?
Bet the kid was black. You think it mistook the gun for a banana?
WOAH not ok
Bet the kid was black. You think it mistook the gun for a banana?
Back the bread basket up there mister, how did you get to that assumption?
If the gun was real (which was apparently the case) it's justified. Even more if the kid was effectively threatening people with it (didn't see in the article if he was just waving it around or actually pointing it at people)
cant we just like shoot super cool future tranquilizers in these kids or something for fucks sake why is it that every serious issue is now confronted with firearms
Deserved it. 8th graders have no reason to have guns at school. What happened to this generation? You got 12 year olds dating and getting pregnant, kids with guns at school, and a whole bunch of other shit. These things were unheard of in any school I went to.
cant we just like shoot super cool future tranquilizers in these kids or something for fucks sake why is it that every serious issue is now confronted with firearms
Tranquilizers take time to kick in. In that time, you could end up being shot.
Back the bread basket up there mister, how did you get to that assumption?
It is fact that about 99% of violent crime committed in the USA is done by black people! (User was banned for this post ("Racism" - Craptasket))
A kid with a gun shooting in a school maybe? The cops are allowed to take any action to protect the other students from the gunman and that involves shooting him before anyone gets injured or killed. Plus, a tazer has no where the range of a gun, so they cops couldn't just run up to him without a high risk of getting shot.
Don't tazers make your muscles contract anyway meaning if he was holding the trigger it'd fire?
Given that we have two sets of muscles for every joint, by your logic, we'd go into the most neutral possible position as all out joints lock into the median position.
It is fact that about 99% of violent crime committed in the USA is done by black people!
It is a fact that 100% of black people who commit violent crimes are black people.
How old is an 8th Grader? I hope they atleast tried to reason with him before shooting, the article doesn't really say much about details.
How old is an 8th Grader? I hope they atleast tried to reason with him before shooting, the article doesn't really say much about details.
13-14
How old is an 8th Grader? I hope they atleast tried to reason with him before shooting, the article doesn't really say much about details.
13-14 usually.
Bet the kid was black. You think it mistook the gun for a banana?
You're saying it like black people are some kind of animals
"He was brandishing a gun-shaped object, which we later confirmed to be a slice of pizza."
You're saying it like black people are some kind of animals
Well they are animals. They're monkeys.
Unless he was actually shooting at the police I don't feel this is right. Even then it'd have to be after they'd resorted to everything else they had, including shooting the gun out of his hand, which has been done before.
13-14
Damn, that is young. I can't imagine what would cause someone that age to take a gun to school other than to just show off to his friends or something. Unless he was being bullied and was out for revenge.
Tranquilizers take time to kick in. In that time, you could end up being shot.
i think you're thinking of the non-super cool future kind
