People who believe there's an overpopulation problem should download google earth and just look around. Hardly any of our planet is actually populated, some of our cities are overpopulated but that's easily fixed by spreading the fuck out
Well that's one way to manage overpopulation. A bad way.
I suppose it IS rather nice that Marine changed the party that has a direct connection to the Collaboration. It'll take a lot more than new leadership and new rhetoric to convince me and many other (not enough, unfortunately) French people that the National Front is no longer the racist quasi Nazi party. It's true that the older Le Pen doesn't approve of the younger, but that is not necessarily proof that the party has entered the realm of same politics. I've nervously kept up with news of the party, but all of her changes strike me the same way as UKIPs attempt at not seeming racist did. Hopefully the facade (if there is one, I could be wrong) will crumble before 2017.
Considering the party was created amidst the algerian crisis, those allegations about the collaboration are not funded. If you want some real collaboration, ask the SFIO, the Parti Socialiste's (left wing) ancester which voted for Petain and participated in his Vichy government during WWII. Ask François Mitterand, a former President of the Republic and from the Parti Socialiste who has been active in Petain's government, admired him and wrote many texts glorifying it back in 1942. That doesn't seem to bother anyone. I'm not saying the Front National is flawless, it has racists, but they don't hold any weight in the party anymore. What makes a party is the electors, what was for long a provocative vote or a blatantly identitarian one is now much more diverse. You got people from the left-wing, far left-wing (lots of them) and right-wing voting for the Front National, their ideas shape the party new ideology. But really the major point is sovereignty and the Republic. The people feel like they're losing control over their own country because of the non-existent differences between the PS and UMP and the European Union. [editline]22nd May 2014[/editline] In other words, you may not like the ideas of the Front National, but you don't have to be "afraid" of them, not anymore. Can't tell about UKIP tho.

Can't tell about UKIP tho.
You are right that the FN was not founded in the immediate aftermath of the war, but the party still had a large population of former collaborationists. Your better argument is that, yes, tons of modern politicians had roots in the collaboration as well, including Mitterrand, who never got enough press for all he did in the 40s. What you are saying makes sense, and it is true that the party's leadership and voter base has changed significantly, but all of their rhetoric reminds me of UKIP, which also tried to present itself as a non racist party trying to limit immigration and integration. All that has been revealed about UKIP recently makes me equally skeptical of the FN. You are also right about my fear of the FN. The only conclusive negative thing I can say about their policies is that Marine is crazy to think she can attempt to limit abortion in France. Many in the Arab minority, leftists against Israel, and far right activists have all agreed on the so called danger of Jews in France. I should not concentrate my worry on just the FN, therefore.
Christ, this guy's been reading too much Tom Clancy, this is almost exactly the plot of one of the Rainbow Six books.
I think the surge in homosexuality is mankind's way of a naturally deterring overpopulation. If more men and women are only attracted to the same sex in a world that doesn't care what they do in their private lives then they may be less likely to procreate(to feel normal to the rest of the world). Which would probably slow the population boom within a few decades.
He is crazy. Didn't his daughter call all of the nationalists of Europe to unite against the arabs at one point?
Jean-Marie Le Pen has been accused and convicted several times of xenophobia and antisemitism.
This shouldn't exist though.
