This is my favorite fake-proven video

This was my first fake exposure for him. Obviously it's to be said that he wants to provide more of a "in this scenario" subtext to provide content.

EDIT: oh
Oh fuck off. If he wants to put a slide on a cliff face on his own private fucking island he can. Which is bad. It's his property he can install whatever the fuck he wants to on it.
They have a duty to fuck off and let him do what he wants with his property.
Still not a valid reason. IMO the only reason the government should be allowed to interfere with your property is if you're doing something blatantly illegal. IE: Meth lab. A slide is not useful for illegal activities so there's no grounds upon which a government can legitimately make a stink about it.
Hello America.
To the "fake videos" No shit sherlock. It's not even fake, since his advice is applicable to the real situation and he demostrates something that's appropriate. That Silver-Lava dancer is just a bitter fuck. So the advice only applies if the Lava is less than an hour old, well good enough then! No smoke? Put some lava in a forrest and watch some smoke appear rapidly.
Really wish I had screencapped the comments when he posted it on twitter.
There was something along the lines of "You own an island? I guess drinking your own piss pays well"
Its been deleted now though :(
watching bear grylls for the reality is like watching top gear for the reality
it's a decent show regardless of what he does off camera
Hello America.
What the fuck is that supposed to even mean?
Bear Grylls is by far the most likable survival 'expert' on TV.
What the fuck is that supposed to even mean?
Bla bla bla oh my god government interference police state they're taking over murrica!
Clear enough? I can't take you guys serious if you keep on complaining about government interference as if it's such a bad thing. In the civilized world you can't just build a gigantic slide on your property without permission from some sort of planning commission.
Bear fuckin' Grylls, ladies and gentlemen.
I didn't know he had kids..
Does he call them cubs?
Worse, Jesse, Marmaduke and Huckleberry.

And I can't take you seriously when you're telling me that some beaurocrat 50+ miles away from me, who doesn't know me and doesn't have my interests in mind, has any business telling me whether or not I can build a new shed on my own land.
When they hold the deed to my property they can tell me what I can and cannot put on it. Until then they can rightfully fuck off. IF I want to erect a new shed behind my old one I bloody well will, and if Bear Grylls wants to put a slide on his own private island he's well within his right to do so.

Except, you know, where he's not since he's facing a planning investigation after not applying for a permit to build on his own land.
It's a privately owned island. How is there even a committee for an archipelago of two islands.

It's not surviving, it's camping if you go out with a shitton of supplies and a dozen people following you around, while picking you up and helicoptering you to hotels instead of staying out in the terrain.

Well, if you were making a fair bit of dosh by giving survival tips on telly, would you want to actually stay, or put yourself in a situation that may well threaten your life, just for the sake of authenticity? The advice Bear Grylls gives is applicable in a real life scenario and that's the show's purpose, other than making money that is.

These statements are all factually incorrect. If they were true, there wouldn't be a news story. The laws and precedents already exist and government officials have a duty to uphold all of them. I agree that the case is a good example of the British nanny-state stereotype, but it's absolutely unreasonable to claim that the government is acting out of line.

Not really, he tells people to take risks. He is always running, jumping, climbing things, etc.; anyone properly trained will tell you to take it slow and not try to climb steep walls without gear. He gets into freezing water a few times, without a crew to help heat you even assuming you can build a fire out in the cold you can die quickly. He also ingests a lot of things you really shouldn't if you are out in the wild.
Really he should tell people how to shelter and feed themselves, not how to huff it out on foot everytime.

OK, fine, you disagree with the idea that people should just be allowed to build shit on their property without having to ask for permission on every little thing. Whatever.
But next time, how about you actually state your opinions instead of just going "hawhaw america :downs:" when people post shit you disagree with? We're not fucking telepaths, there was absolutely no indication of what it was you were thinking about (and I use that phrase loosely).
I don't mind Bear Grylls, he seems like a cool dude but Les Stroud is much more fun to watch, especially since he films it all by himself.

Cool, so you're down with the idea of the government being a nanny for your own privately owned land.
Other people are adults and don't need the government to wipe their ass.

you seem to be missing the point
he shouldn't have to be applying for a permit to build on his own fucking land

Exactly. This is the point I'm making, and indeed most of us are. It's absolutely absurd that there's a permit board at all. He's well within his right to build that slide and the British government officials are just being absurd little babies over it. "Waaahh we don't like X so you need to ask us for permission to build something on your own hard earned property so we can make sure X doesn't get built!"
he shouldn't have to be applying for a permit to build on his own fucking land
I really doubt he outright owns the land. Whatever country or council sold him the right to live and build on the land owns the land most likely. Planning permission isn't some deep government conspiracy to stop you building shit, it's to ensure that the shit you build won't damage the land stupidly, or cause danger to others. Just because it happens to be an island doesn't really exempt it from the fucking law.
Government intervention isn't a bad thing in a ton of situations, stop pulling this "nanny state" shit, a government wants to ensure its population isn't killing itself? Holy shit stop the fucking presses!

see, this makes a whole lot more sense than people here who are saying "he can't build on his own land because the government exists"
