why
In May 2009, Broun proposed failed legislation that would have proclaimed 2010 "The Year Of The Bible"
hey he also is kinda like McCarthy:
On October 14, 2009, Broun joined with three fellow Representatives in calling for the investigation of CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations) over allegations of trying to plant "spies,"
He's a congressmen everyone hates:
At the end of the debate, and with his time expired, U.S. Congressman Peter DeFazio asked "Why do you hate this country so much?" Broun responded "I was just charged by this gentleman for hating America, and I challenge those words, and I ask that his words be taken down."
how are people like this still in office?
We should send him to Syria as a missionary.
The men of ICP probably have a better understanding of science then this schmuck, and he's helping run this country. :suicide: I truly don't understand how someone can believe the entire universe fucking just poofed here, with the Earth and all it's vegetation, animals and humans, in six days, and rest on Sunday because god did his work. Let's just disregard all of the scientific advancement we've had and stay on Earth until the Sun engulfs us. Even though we'll all be dead before that.

Even though we'll all be dead before that.
The whole "world created in 7 days" and "God created man in his image" parts are not the problem because it's part of faith, the problem is the "God's word in the Bible is the only true word, and everyone who disagrees with me is a sinner; also Christianity is the only true religion in the whole world and everyone else is going to hell, especially you damn Jews and A-rabs who believe in the same God I do but disagree over certain details" part that fundamentalists espouse because it creates hatred, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.
And it's lies to try to keep me and all the folks who are taught that from understanding that they need a savior. You see, there are a lot of scientific data that I found out as a scientist that actually show that this is really a young Earth. I don't believe that the Earth is but about 9,000 years old. I believe it was created in six days as we know them. That's what the bible says!
I.. I have no words to how little sense this justification makes...
hey he also is kinda like McCarthy: He's a congressmen everyone hates: how are people like this still in office?
Before this I had hope that maybe he just spewed bullshit in the hopes of appealing to an extremist voter base, but now... ... in the midst of overwhelming evidence, I cannot understand how people think like this and get in office.
the big bang theory is straight from hell thought. terrible show
A classic of example of religious fundamentalism in America.
How does he still stand with the weight of his own over-sized stupidity weighing him down? Seriously, I'm shocked such a comment hasn't removed him from his position.
The men of ICP probably have a better understanding of science then this schmuck, and he's helping run this country. :suicide:
Whoa whoa whoa let's not lose our heads here.
Fixing the government would be pretty simple I think. Make it a requirement to pass a one-question quiz to get elected to senate, house or POTUS. That question: Do you believe evolution, big bang theory, embryology or anything similar to that is lies concocted from the pit of hell? If they answer yes they're ineligible to hold public office. Simple as that. They're welcome to hold those beliefs if they want, but those beliefs have no business on Capitol Hill.
I misread the question and answered "Yes". Fuck.
Party like it's 1899!
This man is a CONGRESSMAN??? You have got to be fucking kidding me.
Only in America, the land of the free and crazy.
I misread the question and answered "Yes". Fuck.
Think it's easier to ask people if they're religious and if so, do they let that cloud their judgement. If so, no go. alternatively: Would you hesitate to sacrifice a baby for Jesus? If no, you're a sick fuck and prepare to kill yourself. [editline]6th October 2012[/editline]
Only in America, the land of the free and crazy.
Just bomb that shitstain on civilization.
So he's a medical doctor by trade? A medical doctor is by extension, a scientist or a biologist. How can you go through eight years of med school, learn all of that biology, and then just forget it because you picked up a bible?!
yet when i say i use "50 Shades of Grey" as a guideline for all of my decisions in life everyone looks at me like i'm crazy
Your holy book ruined my favourite colour, I hope you feel good about yourself, filthy heathen.
Okay,ill need 7 satchels,20 assault rifles,AK type preferred,3 rocket launchers,two mortars and a vehicle with a mounted Gatling gun
Okay,ill need 7 satchels,20 assault rifles,AK type preferred,3 rocket launchers,two mortars and a vehicle with a mounted Gatling gun
Why would you need 20 assault rifles all for yourself?
in the midst of overwhelming evidence, I cannot understand how people think like this and get in office.
He got into office as a result of the majority of voters in his congressional district voting him in, so clearly he isn't the only one with these views.
She's right though.
Religion is fucking up the future :(
Broun, who is a medical doctor by trade, made it clear just how significant a role the bible plays in his everyday decision-making."As your congressman, I hold the Holy Bible as being the major directions to me of how I vote in Washington DC," Broun told attendees after suggesting all other public officials should follow his lead.
This is much more unsettling and worrying. What the fuck, how is the bible going to help you vote for the right person to hopefully unfuck your country and why are you telling people to follow a book chalk full of biggotry that holds no answers in such tasks you mindless idiot?
If you're religious, why not just believe God did it all? With all the evidence for evolution, this is just embarrassing. How can you say they're all lies without going red?
See I'm convinced that there's an elaborate conspiracy-esque organisations who get their kicks from going to mental institutions, finding a patient with absolutely no connection to reality whatsoever, put them in a suit and implant the idea in their head that they're actually a congressman or member of the government and then watch them say this hilariously fucking obscene and dumb bullshit. All the while they're chilling at home pissing themselves laughing at this side splittingly funny shit.
I wish that was true. Seriously, this is worrying to say the least. It makes no sense whatsoever that people even listen and believe in nonsense like this.
If you're religious, why not just believe God did it all? With all the evidence for evolution, this is just embarrassing. How can you say they're all lies without going red?
Some follow the bible literally and don't believe they are "allowed" to make their own interpretations out of it.

How can you say they're all lies without going red?
My granma blames it all on god, except for bad things. That, she blames it on the devil. But in what comes to scientific discoveries? "God gave man the knowledge to reach there" It's what sickens me the most about religion. "What about X?" "God." "What about Y?" "God." "What about Z?" "God."

Nothing is more impenetrable than the mind of the religious. It's pretty much the entire point really.
