Can someone tell me what this token stuff means. I dont understand
Your server now needs what is essentially a security certificate to run on the internet, making it so that only valve approved things can be on it. Which is horse shit.
You can always go back to css for the modded servers.
This will set a precedent for future games.
You can always go back to css for the modded servers.
Yeah, and on-tour military men could always go back to the 360 if they couldn't get an Internet connection with their Xbone. What's your point?
I'm not that upset about them banning paid inventory modifications, I'm more upset about GSLT. It goes against so much of what I've always thought good about Valve: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Counter-Strike:_Global_Offensive_Dedicated_Servers#Registering_Game_Server_Login_Token That's some serious shit.
Account Requirements - Your Steam account must have a qualifying registered phone. (Mobile Authentication) yeah just in case your server gets hacked and you lose all your server's inventory

Only about 555 servers have players on them. A ton of them seem to be GSPs running blank CS:GO servers. How many servers have tokens would be stored by Valve's master server. Also, how many are actually modded? Hard to find out.
CS:S was better anyway for custom stuff, but still, this really has me disappointed in Valve.

Luckily we haven't been fucked over by this but we have had to remove several mods from our servers relating to knife skin swapping. I'm personally pretty frustrated at the way valve is structuring this whole thing. I mean sure, it's their game, but why have they the need to change something that hasn't been an issue (apparently until now)? Our users still buy skins through the market by the boatload, and we do the same as managers of the community. There is literally no ill will intended.
Wow, that kills alotta minigames then.
After all this, going back and reading the "To confusing for players" and then remember how the game will bring up a message (Unless you click never show again!) when you click browse community servers. Telling you that the servers are modified and will bring a different experience to the game. Plus I run TF2 servers, I've never had an incident where people are confused, I only see people asking questions on how to play the gamemodes or how to change their model etc. Sigh, what happened to Valve huh? Now it's just microtransactions and experimental gaming hardware.

Valve is dead
Valve is dead
All good things eventually come to an end.

It'd be cool for all the extremely talented artists and engineers to branch off and create their own company devoid of Valve's piss-poor management and decision making abilities. They're sliding into mobile-game developer tier in terms of business practices. The only thing they're doing right now that they haven't completely fucked up is the Vive.
Makes me wonder if valve is going to ever make more games that have multiplayer in them it's going to be 100% standard to include microtransactions with hats/cosmetics and economy to keep the money flowing. I think the answer is yes, because seems like there never can be enough money for valve with these new 'changes'.
When I first heard of Tactical Intervention I was like "yo, that shit could be pretty cool" then well, Tactical Intervention happened.
The only thing remotely fun about it really was the VIP escort mode with the car chases. Was batshit insane yet good for a laugh. But yeah, have any ZS servers been taken down yet? Honestly, the only way people can even hope to reverse this is to pressure Valve to no end. It might not work but as shown in the pass they're prone to caving in to community backlash.

I find it weird that they said they ban this stuff, yet all the servers I join from the legacy server browser that normally have those plugins still let me join without issue. Maybe I just don't understand the affect of it yet, but it seems to have done nothing.

According to their article, they don't even know.
To avoid future disruption game server operators are best advised to comply with CS:GO server operation guidelines described above.
