All I can say to the troops is be careful of the assassin that lurks within them.
If anyone gets that reference congrats to you.
Reports that Russian troops are amassing at the border near Senkovka, Ukraine. Russian military says it is just part of training exercises.
"Our units are simply passing through."
So let's recap...
Half of UKR has russian flags.Russian troops and equipment in Crimea and the RU-UKR border.
UKR army is on high alert.
Foreignpolicy article stating that Nato should/will intervene with troops.
Harsh dialogues between US and RUS diplomats.
I wonder where this is leading...
This is what I'm worried about. How far can this escalate.
I bet ukraine feels really silly for giving there nukes to russia
I bet ukraine feels really silly for giving there nukes to russia
I don't think Ukraine having nukes would help in this.
I bet ukraine feels really silly for giving there nukes to russia
So Ukraine would nuke Russia with a handful of bombs, only for them to be annihilated by the thousands of nukes that Russia has stockpiled from the days of the USSR?
Sure, sounds like a plan to me.
I'm not reading through 23 pages, and I am sure this question has been asked before, but I wish to know. could these event's lead to the rise of multi-nation war possibly even a WWIII?

It will be so bad it will skip WWIII and go to WWIV
[editline]2nd March 2014[/editline]
I've made this joke before, welp

No, only the Central African Republic declaring war on Argentina could possibly start WW III. All other possibilities are slim, at best.

Nah, it won't. Because the situation doesn't really warrant it.
Reading about all of this as a Russian American citizen sure is jolly good fun.

Prepare for internment.
Prepare for internment.
Yep, mentioned it since I am not particularly interested in experiencing what the Japanese Americans in WW2 did, not interested in that at all.
what if my mom is russian and my dad american what happens then? do i get sent to internment
I bet ukraine feels really silly for giving there nukes to russia
Well the condition for keeping the nukes was also keeping the debt, so I don't think they regret the decision too much.
can someone summarise whats happened so far or something because I've lost track and I'm so fucking confused
can someone summarise whats happened so far or something because I've lost track and I'm so fucking confused
Russia enters troops into Crimea, thus breaking the Budapest Memorandum on 3 different points. Ukraine asks NATO and UN for halp pls, no-one is doing anything to stop Russia breaking international law.
Pro-Russian militant groups in eastern Ukraine are fucking shit up.
Shit is getting fucked up.
Ukraine is fully mobilizing their army

I cannot imagine the change of sentiment that has to be going on, going directly from a revolution to a war.
Doesn't mean much. If they retaliate against Russian troops, they'll probably die and lose East Ukraine.
Doesn't mean much. If they retaliate against Russian troops, they'll probably die and lose East Ukraine.
Problem with general mobilization is that it drains country's money. You generally don't initiate mobilization without releasing the military potential. Which is kind of fucked because the Ukrainian government obviously doesn't want open conflict.
You can tell these guys don't really know what they're doing.
Doesn't mean much. If they retaliate against Russian troops, they'll probably die
Yeah it probably doesn't mean much to you from your bizarre lofty pro-russian armchair internet pedestal located somewhere in Canada
Ask a Ukrainian
what does russia want?

Yeah they can't do anything otherwise Russia will turn it around and say it's aggression which justifies a response.
