So just to make it clear, the Russians have only invaded Crimea and not mainland Ukraine, yes?
So just to make it clear, the Russians have only invaded Crimea and not mainland Ukraine, yes?
Yes. [editline]2nd March 2014[/editline]
Ukraine has withdrawn its coast guard vessels from two ports in Crimea and moved them to other Black Sea bases on Sunday, a sign that Russian forces were completing their seizure of the isolated Black Sea peninsula. In a statement, the border guards said vessels from the Crimean ports of Kerch and Sevastopol had been moved to Odessa and Mariupol. The situation on Ukraine's frontiers was stable apart from in Crimea, the statement said.
Actually can someone who is not pro-american or pro-eu explain why this doesn't make sense?
It operates under the incorrect assumption that nobody gives the US shit about their misadventures in the Middle East, or that deploying troops to protect an embassy is even remotely comparable to annexing an entire region of a country.
It operates under the incorrect assumption that nobody gives the US shit about their misadventures in the Middle East, or that deploying troops to protect an embassy is even remotely comparable to annexing an entire region of a country.
The only thing that pisses me off in this whole Ukraine story is: EU and US makes statements and comments on ANYTHING related to Russia (Yanukovich, RU troops, Putin, etc..) while they absolutely close their eyes and ignore nationalists/fascists and what they do, they completely ignore that, and they also ignore what other half of Ukraine wants (Including me remotely). The way I see it: US is against Russia, while Ukraine has pro-russian government, they are wrong. Ukraine has pro-eu government, they are the good guys, EU obviously seems to back the US in this probably with same reasons. And nobody cares what people in Ukraine want (or at least only care what West want, because west supports US/EU and hates Russia). So please tell me then, why is everyone saying East is wrong, violent, they shouldn't protest if they don't want the new government they just should go along with it? fuck no.

The east can protest, sure, but that doesn't mean Russia can attack Ukraine, take a shit on the Bucharest Memorandum and take Ukrainian territory by force

You asked why people though that image incorrect, I explained, that's that. I'll leave countering your points unrelated to the original topic for someone else to debate.
Actually can someone who is not pro-american or pro-eu explain why this doesn't make sense?
a dozen marines legally going to an embassy =/= thousands of troops and land vehicles invading territory.
Look at the last hundred years of Ukraine's history and you'll probably figure out the answer. All Ukraine ever wanted was to have a democratic government and every time Ukraine attempts it, Russia starts economic pressure or (in this case) resorts to gunboat diplomacy.
China has voiced concern over the continuing crisis in Ukraine and urged talks to resolve it. Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said China sticks to the principle of non-interference in any country's internal affairs and respects Ukraine's independence and territorial integrity, official Xinhua news agency reports - via BBC Monitoring.
I was wondering how China would chime in over all this. Being Russia's buttbuddy.
I was wondering how China would chime in over all this. Being Russia's buttbuddy.
So, the Russians basically have nobody backing them in this case.
I was wondering how China would chime in over all this. Being Russia's buttbuddy.
china isnt really russias buttbuddy china has pretty strong economic ties to ukraine and shit
So, the Russians basically have nobody backing them in this case.
Except maybe for Belarus which has the same problem as Ukraine had before Euromaidan happened.
I know chances are nothing too serious will happen, but I can't help but worry it'll end in bloody war and I'll get drafted. I'm in the UK though, Flagdog just gets my location wrong. It's nice to see all these countries though, even China, expressing concern over what Russia has done. Maybe it'll convince them not to take any further action...
