Russia invades Ukraine. Roads and airports being blocked and occupied
The Permanent Members are the reason why the UNSC sucks at resolving conflict. Libya and the recent Congo rebellions were a nice change, but it's based upon USA, France, UK, Russia, and China getting an untouchable spot for nearly a century. You can't have a Permanent Member make an intervention resolution on itself.
Sorry if this might sound stupid but does the UNSC really exist in the real world? The only time i heard about the word UNSC is during the Halo games, in which the UNSC is called: United Nations Space Command which is kind of the future version of the UN that oversees the human colonies.
Putin is gambling but I have a feeling he will get away with everything he wants. Crimea is gonna be de facto or maybe later officially Russian.

You remind me of that time the BBC:

Hes got a (shaky but he doesn't care) casus belli of ethnic Russians in that region, Ukraine is in disarray it is in no shape to defend its borders, economically speaking it is a juicy chunk of area so that is an added bonus.
All he has to put up with his loud mean words from the west and brow beating. They will do nothing other than maybe some sanctions here or there if it gets that far.
I predict he's gonna win his little geopolitical gamble.
Like a big EU4 game.
I hope I'm not the only one who would love to pour the gasoline over Putin , cut all of his "organs' , eat them to him, then burn him slowly?
Putin's taking all he can right now.
This opportunity won't come again.
Could someone quickly explain what's actually going on here?
Could someone quickly explain what's actually going on here?
Relitively small pro-EU protests.
Gov makes draconic anti protest laws.
More people protest against laws.
Protest turns foul with molotovs.
Laws removed.
Ceasefires called but fail for one reason or another.
Riots continue.
Ukerain government ousted by force.
Interim government made up entirely by opposition to old gov.
Interim government has ultra nationalists in there.
Laws passed to stop russian from being an offical language (in some regions the majority of people are russian speaking)
Some of interim government want to sever ties with russia (svoboda).
Russia has a base in crimea and want to keep it.
Crimea wants independence and refuses to recognise interim goverment.
Mysterious well armed men appear in ukerain taking over airports.
Apcs block roads.
Pro russian crimean activists raise russian flag everywhere and take over stuff.
Mysterious well armed men are actually russian.
Ukerain's interim gov fires head of armed forces
Russians have controlled a few military bases.
World is telling Russia to stop
Russia says they are there to keep peace.
I think the russian army is only in and around Crimea though. There are pro russian protests outside crimea aswell as well as anti russian protests in crimea.
now the only question remainds if it's only Crimea
or soon to follow on also East and South parts of mainland Ukraine
... "Tanks must Flow" ... :v:

At first I was curious who would say such thing.
Then I noticed your flag and saw you were Georgian.
I see where you're coming from. :v:
So Russia is just going to build a bridge to Crimea, send more of its people there, put their flag there and claim the land as their own?
It's like we're back in the colonial era.

(I've posted this image on FP a few months ago, I think)
I feel really bad for Ukraine. They overthrow the thug of a president they had and come to the west for aid and all we do is go "Russia is bad. Yeah bad Russia." And literary nothing else. After all of this Ukraine is gunna hate the west because we didnt fucking do anything.
So, in my spare time I decided to do a counter of NATO + Finnish Armed Forces + Ukrainian Ground Forces versus the Russian Armed Forces troop count, not taking all the tech. Bear in mind that NATO is for the most part composed of volunteer armies, while Russia has a one year mandatory conscription. What's the figure right now?
4500000/four and a half million NATO soldiers vs. 360000/three hundred and sixty thousand Russian conscripts.
Yeah, I don't think they have the numbers on this one. Maybe the gear contrast is slightly greater, but they still lack major modernization.

America didn't plant a flag and say "FUK U IRAQ, YOU BELONG TO US NOW, GOD BLESS MURICUH".
Therefore, not Imperialist.
Russia seems pretty sure that the referendum will go the way they want it to go
"147% of Crimeans voted for independence"

We have rigged the latest election. 93.5 per cent have voted for Lukashenko. But they say it is not a European outcome. We have made it 86 per cent. - Alexander Lukashenko in 2006.
I really hope Russia eventually tries to invade a bigger country that fights back and stomps the shit out of them.

Poland?
Poland?
That'd be too easy. I say they take the long route and try Mongolia again.

If reality is that black and white for you.
Imperialism still exists it never went away. It just isn't as blatant and in your face as it used to be throughout history. Modern world is about espionage, proxy wars, and covertly trying to influence other countries to your will.

My point is stop saying "America is Imperialist" because it just sounds stupid and makes me angry to hear dumb crap like that. :v:
RUSSIAN FORCES POSE ULTIMATUM
Commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Alexander Vitko posed an ultimatum to the Ukrainian military units - unless they surrender before 5 am tomorrow (04.03), an attack will start on all Ukrainian military units throughout Crimea. The Russian occupation forces are communicating this decision to the Ukrainian military.

Sorry you dislike reality.
Ever wonder why the defense budget is ridiculous and America has overseas bases out the ass? Got to keep the empire going.
