But it's completely true. If you were to go into the middle of NYC and burn a bible, nobody would care. But in the middle east, when some dude makes a movie in a DIFFERENT COUNTRY that insulted their religion, there were riots all over the place and several people got killed.
the problem is that you're using one central variable in a world where there's no such thing. who the fuck cares what anyone does in NYC? there's political freedom, social support, financial support, sexual liberation, a culture that pushes freedom of speech etc. burn a bible in Uganda, where people are killing each other in the name of Christianity, and then we can talk. Uganda, like a lot of places in the middle east lacks political freedom, social support, financial support, and sexual liberation. not to mention, i thought we've been over this, they aren't rioting because some guy made a movie. go read up on the Rushdie fatwa. it's a political move designed to exert power, and it specifically comes from an anti-secular source. Khomeini didn't read the satanic verses, i can assure you these people haven't seen that movie. it doesn't change anything, but it shows you what the true situation is. the movie is simply a narrative generated to sell news and media capital.
Still you have to admin that Muslims are way more easily offended and violent than Christians or Jews when it comes to criticizing their religion.
It's hardly fair to blame Muslims as a whole. This is a region where the west isn't popular in the first place, it doesn't take much to anger people there, who's lives are in many cases dictated by religion because the government says so. In short, it's the region, not the religion. That's why there is a shitstorm in the middle-east and the rest of the world's Muslim population doesn't give a shit. Hell, even in Libya there are counter-protests in support of the US.
frankly i'm disgusted at the way the West basically fucking disassociated themselves completely. western media is basically saying everyone is pissed off because of a movie, having the fucking nerve to ignore the giant impact western actions have had on the middle east. you think these people give a fuck about movies? we support a regime in the middle east which at best has QUESTIONABLE tactics towards dealing with muslim people, and also have been involved in wars that have devastated economies and lives in the middle east at the benefit of the west. anyone who thinks they're pissed off at a movie is either ignorant and naive, or simply wants to give the exploitative power of the west a free pass.
Hey remember when they made revisions to the Bible after they decided all those witch trials and inquisitions were bad? No? Neither do I.

None? But most Muslims are Asian. Did you ever think for a moment that it isn't because they are Muslim but it's because they are in one of the worlds premier shit holes?

I think its fair to say that censorship in the US is considerably more relaxed than it is over there, so when they see this video being released and not just instantly cracked down upon they misread that as a sign of support towards it.

However, even in first world countries you still have Muslims attacking people for insulting their prophet which doesn't really happen with other religions.
These people are only using religion as an excuse to riot, it's not the root cause. Centuries of anti-westernism has been bred into them and for good reason. When you're angry you'll riot about anything.
You can walk outside for like 3 seconds and see an Arab.
Muslims aren't exclusively from the middle east.
people have bombed abortion clinics in the US before
Did I ever say that extremism didn't exist? We were talking about how they were more easily offended and violent when it comes to criticizing them, not how violent they were overall. [editline]17th September 2012[/editline] And unlike abortion clinics, people who make comics that insult the prophet have to fear for their lives almost 100% of the time if their real identities are found.

The western media just seems to act like western policies haven't been shit and pin the blame on the film.
