• Bulgarian School May Be Renamed from Lenin to Steve Jobs

What positive credit does Lenin deserve? He simply replaced one brutal regime with an even more brutal one, and caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Russians before Stalin even had a chance to be a douchebag. Neither of them deserve to be remembered this way, on any school.
Steve Jobs <-------> Vladimir Lenin Invented Apple <-------> Created the first Communist nation Right then, hard decision, amirite?
Apple Store <-------> Gulag
Apple Store <-------> Gulag
Yeah, but at least in the Gulag I'm not paying $700 for shitty tech v:v:v
It's called honoring the dead, and sure, it is often taken too far, but overall it's a respectful thing to do.
There's honoring the dead, then there's repainting them to be better than they were which is bullshit. If I died in that situation, I'd rather be remember as what I was, not being attributed bullshit I know I never did.
Apple Store <-------> Gulag
NO! GIVE ME LASHINGS! LESS RATIONS! NO CLOTHING! ANYTHING BUT TECH ADVICE FROM HIPSTERS!
I agree, especially considering he isn't even bulgarian
Lenin isn't bulgarian..? I think, unless it's some sort of business school or something related, then this is a bit silly..
To be fair, Steve Jobs would be a better name for a school that focuses on electronics than Lenin.
Oh for fucks sake, I fear for humanity.
Then again, Lenin gained power through the ideas of marx and that other guy nobody can name
What's so hard to remember about the name "Engels"? It's "angels" with an E.
What's so hard to remember about the name "Engels"? It's "angels" with an E.
It's how we write "English", easy 'nuff.
I wonder why he gained so much fame and respect when he died? It's like everyone was waiting for him to die and then praise him as god.
Why change from communist to capitalist?
But...but Lenin did so much for music!
OP is dumb for thinking Lenin did "great" things.
OP is dumb for thinking Lenin did "great" things.
Like Jobs did...
Here comes Apple with the lawsuits for using his name
This is the one time I really want to see that and think it'd totally be fine with Apple.
All Steve Jobs did was get rich off other peoples ideas Then again, Lenin gained power through the ideas of marx and that other guy nobody can name
Trotsky?
Trotsky?
No, Engels.
What is wrong with this country
It's actually kind of cool that they're naming it after an American Capitalist. Still, I would prefer they kept it at Lenin.
Ok....I understand mourning the man's passing, but jesus its been over a month, and he wasn't even that great. Why is society bowing down and worshiping the ground he no longer walks on? I mean hell, I could probably claim more than Jobs, and I probably won't have a solid gold statue created in my honor. I seriously don't understand the world's big deal.
Am I the only one to notice that they look ALMOST EXACTLY THE SAME in those photos?
One of them has eyebrows.
Thought this thread was going to be Bulgarian School Massacre
Wasn't that Stalin..?
Nope, it was Lenin's Bolshevik party that did that. The Cheka were started to terrorise innocent civilians. If you were suspected of being middle class, that was enough to have you killed. The elected Constituent Assembly was closed by the Bolsheviks after one day in session. But Lenin aimed to stay in power by any means necessary.
A person dies, then suddenly gets fame for shit he didn't do, gets crowned king of the known universe all year every year and is suddenly the inventor of everything ever. Yes seems perfectly fine of a response to a person dying.
Next thing people will say he invented Windows, the fax machine, VoIP, ethernet connections, and computers.
If you were suspected of being middle class, that was enough to have you killed.
Source?
Source?
It was during the Red Terror (Russian Civil War period). ''As the civil war progressed, significant numbers of prisoners, suspects and hostages were executed on the basis of their belonging to the "possessing classes" and such numbers are recorded in cities occupied by the Bolsheviks''. Source.
That is quite terrible. Personally I like Lenin's economic ideals rather than this kind of social militarism.
It was more to do with a minority party controlling a majority population, Red Terror was only implemented during Civil War years as far as I know.
