They've pretty much lost all pretence and are now just outright giving democracy a big, fat, money-wrapped cock up the ass.

Man, Monsanto is such a piece of shit. I often get ridiculed for eating organic, but this is a big part of why I do. Supporting local farmers is the only real way of giving back a little to those who have actually earned it.

This sad little episode also highlights how broken the legislative system is, when some chucklefuck can quietly attach a bill like this to pass shit that would never get passed on its own. It really should be illegal.

I actually left most of the weak links out of it, like how Hillary Clinton worked on Monsanto's legal team in one case or how so-and-so-no-name worked for Monsanto once.
your local farmers probably grow monsanto crop.
Most of the vegetables I eat I grow, and are in a community garden that I pay monthly to grow in. I order my seeds online that are verified organic.
Surprised so few facepunchers know about this. Here's a documentary, it's pretty old at this point but history hasn't changed. http://www.filmsforaction.org/watch/the_future_of_food/ And you better watch this shit if you know nothing about this, it's fucking important.

My bro lives right across Monsanto's world HQ. And he's told me he's seen angry farmers protest outside once.
My bro lives right across Monsanto's world HQ. And he's told me he's seen angry farmers protest outside once.
It is apparently in Cambridge, MA. I live about 45mins or so from there, so maybe the next time I go visit my grandma in (who lives in Cambridge), I'll pay a visit to their HQ and shit on the steps or something. Anything to cause a nuisance.
Monsanto is perhaps the most evil corporation I have ever come across.
I just love it when people who diss conspiracy theorists get their buttholes all tightened when this shit comes out from someone 'reliable'.
Grandfather was a diverse farmer, don't know if he ever then bought anything manufactured by Monstanto.
The more regulated an industry is the more power large corporations in that industry will have. (i.e. big pharma, meat packing industry, agriculture, etc.) I think it's hilarious when people say things like "fuck Monsanto" when they should be saying "fuck corrupt governments." Most of the power Monsanto has in the industry comes form its ties to government. Also, you have to blame hardcore environmentalists for stopping GMO research in it's tracks time and time again. They basically got GMOs banned from most of Europe without a shred of evidence using nothing but fear tactics.

(solution is changing them, whodathunk) I also agree about GMO stuff, campaigns against GMO products are almost always campaigns against advancing technology due to fear. This is despite the massive benifits GMO has already brought us. What these luddites should be pushing for is proper regulation.

As if they are less prone to bribery, black mail, and perks. No, in fact, most political systems draw the very people who most love power into themselves.
I wonder if, in the future, people will learn about the second peacetime global recession, and this will get a mention. This reminds me so much of the corrupt business going on in the pre-Depression days.

They do this so people do not notice it and so that people who oppose it are viewed as people who oppose the perfectly reasonable bill. They manage to do this through legalized bribes... :tinfoil: I'm surprised they didn't try to pass SOPA as the stop child pornography bill.. The system is incredibly broken and full of corruption.

I fully expect any position with lots of power to draw lots of corruption. This is one of the main reasons I'm against most government regulation... it just ends up being a way for big corporations to block out small businesses by increasing their own stranglehold on the market.
I... think this is good. Is it?
Monsanto is like a generic evil corporation that's greedy for money and fucks people up with cancer. Literally cancer. Cancer as in the black people on the poor side of town are getting way too many toxins in them because Monsanto is polluting the air/water/soil. They're the EA or Microsoft of the agriculture industry.
It is apparently in Cambridge, MA.
... It's in St. Louis, dude.
I fully expect any position with lots of power to draw lots of corruption.
Power corrupts. It's cliche but it's incredibly true. My two favorite pieces of literature are all about the subject, both ending with the heroes rejecting the ultimate power, understanding that nobody is truly The incorruptible, Not the idealistic revolutionary like Robespierre, not the young hero who only want's good for the world or Pip. The government is an incredible force that can easily be abused. It's coercive abilities are endless. There needs to be some Anti-lobbying legislation in the US and Canada need's to actually start enforcing it's legislation on lobbying.
Stay classy America.
Not to mention they charge 3rd world farmers overseas so much, that they cannot afford them and then commit suicide. Here's one source but there are many others: http://naturalsociety.com/monsantos-gmo-seeds-farmer-suicides-every-30-minutes/
Monsanto sold india some gmo rice plants that used pesticides. They used so much more water the water table went from 40 feet or so to 1000 feet underground. Despicable corporation of greed and disregard for nature and human life.
You guys should watch "Food Inc" shows about the fast food industry, GMO's, factorized animal farms etc.
They're the EA or Microsoft of the agriculture industry.
Lol
Monsanto is an interesting company. You never see them advertise things, and when they do (I live just north of the prairies, I see ads for farm stuff now and then) it's always under a brand name with the words "Monsanto" nowhere to be seen. ROUNDUP TRANSORB HC It's like their PR department is dedicated to hiding the company name
