What makes any of you qualified to say that this kid has serious issues? I wasn't aware you knew anything about this person past what you read in a news article.
And around 11 or 12 is a LONG time to keep up these tendencies. That's just what I would personally do.
Zeke asked you first
i bet meller yeller's scientific source is the bible
Oh yeah, because you know kids, they lie about what gender they are all the time! Only when they get to 11 or 12 years old do they really know what's going on, am I right?
All children have been mandated to be gender neutral until the age of 18.
Do you have any kind of case example to cite where a kid was consistently exhibiting the signs of gender dysphoria (consistently wearing female clothes, consistently pursuing things only females do) and then just suddenly stopped?
I'm sure a case exists.
After a severely traumatic brain injury.
My name is bobby Montoya.
You kicked me out of the Girl Scouts.
Prepare to die.
:v:
changing your gender is fuckin wierd
i feel like it'd be real fuckin easy to regret it
and real fuckin hard to deal with regretting it

I'm afraid psychologists with a little more knowledge on this than you have already determined that it doesn't work like that.
changing your gender is fuckin wierd
good thing it's impossible to change your gender then
good thing it's impossible to change your gender then
Sex and gender are distinctly different, you can't use one, but mean the other, and get mad at someone who corrects you

[editline]29th October 2011[/editline]
damn why is everyone so mad
I'm beginning to believe that with all these gays and transgender sissies popping up the government is putting something in your food. Honestly, so many stories about boys that can't even begin to understand what life is about nevermind why they have a penis and they go and choose their sexuality? We're biologically made up to be the gender we are when we're born and suddenly changing that, especially without even knowing, isn't going to leave anyone psychologically stable.
Whatever social trend this is, it needs to stop. It actually makes me feel ill listening to these stories.
I'm not even homophobic - it's just so shocking..

They always existed, but the social stigma was grossly larger in the past. You think transgender people are mentally ill? Please, do yourself a favour and don't speak on matters you don't understand.
gays and transgender sissies

AngryChairR would you kindly point me to a single post of yours that isn't completely fucking stupid, or else I'll have to ask you to please stop spouting contradictory shit on things you evidently haven't the slightest fucking clue about.
Holy shit this thread makes me rage. I remember when I was 7 I used to wake up CRYING because I had a dream of being a girl. You people know nothing about how it feels to be transgender. So unless you spent 8 years studying the subject. Or are transgender yourself. Then you have no right to judge this young girl.

Oh look a transphobic gay person
If I had a nickel
aaaahhhh
You can't "imagine" the scenario because you've never experienced anything remotely similar to it
but obviously you're the expert heh
wow zeke you're usually smart and sensible but holy fuck you need to slow your fucking roll
the guy was just stating his opinion and you seriously just went off on him like a genernalizing cunt
cmon zeke you're better than that
[editline]29th October 2011[/editline]
this whole thread you've been blowing people's quotes a bit too far out of proportion
anyways the guy who said no was pretty much correct in the sense that he was a boy
that's fine and all but when it comes to serious vaginas-only things you can't really bend the rules because someone feels like a girl. even if he's made that decision it's just really one of those things
there's no transphobia by the way, it's just the way it works.

except that post he was responding to was fucking stupid
if anything, it's easier for a child to identify their gender because it is not something that is chosen
as they grow up, they're more aware of additional social pressures which may consciously and subconsciously repress and alter their behavior and thinking

He seemed like another one of those "well this kid doesn't know what he's saying, he can't possibly decide what gender he is!!" types.
He seemed like another one of those "well this kid doesn't know what he's saying, he can't possibly decide what gender he is!!" types.
seemed like it, but i'm a guy who gives people the benefit of the doubt because that's what i'd like people to do for me because most of the time all my problems are based on misunderstandings and people trying to find ulterior motives
looking at that quote alone he's kind of right and i see what he means
it's definitely not impossible, but someone that young to decide something that big just seems a little implausible.
level with me here, a seven-year-old deciding he wants to be a girl for the rest of his life and join the girl scouts. it's natural for people to be skeptical about something like this

this isn't happening, can't believe we're still having to say this

I think you may be the one who's missing the point. It isn't a 'decision' the kid makes, it's just who he is. The same way you didn't 'decide' to be the heteronormative type, you just were (or if not, insert applicable gender orientation here).
this isn't happening, can't believe we're still having to say this
ok i'm just assuming that's what it'll end up being.
shit you guys really need to calm down
this isn't happening, can't believe we're still having to say this
for all we know it is happening. maybe, maybe not. unless i'm missing something and he only wants to be a girl for the time being
ok i'm just assuming that's what it'll end up being.
shit you guys really need to calm down
And if it does, that's just fine. So what's the problem?
And if it does, that's just fine. So what's the problem?
there isn't a problem?
there isn't a problem?
Well alright then, we may just be talking past each other. Problem solved.

I'm bored of noticing that peoples' arguments all boil down to the same fundamental flaw. This way the kid has longer to decide if transitioning really has a positive impact on their life, and therefore has a better chance of making the right decision when they become eligible for harder to reverse measures. Living as a girl and joining the girl scouts doesn't take much effort to undo, even most effects of HRT are reversible, it's only SRS that has permanent life changing implications, and this way he kid has much longer to figure out if the procedure and therapy are right for them.
pretty sure people don't 'decide' to be transgendered
"hey, I'm really lacking some discrimination and abuse in my life!
Now, what group has high levels of suicide, assault and depression...
I know, I'll become transgendered, fucking neato!"
"I rate people dumb to reinforce my argument"
"I use derogatory terms in my argument make myself feel better"
both sides are doing this and frankly, it's annoying.
NO CIVIL DISCUSSION IN MY FACEPUNCH

ok. i was just assuming that this trend of him doing girl stuff would carry on to his adulthood. whether or not he "grows out of it" (not to be taken as a juvenile implication) pretty much remains unknown.
assuming that at this current moment he believes this is the way the rest of his life will be, it's a bit of a rather mature choice
[editline]29th October 2011[/editline]
by the way, choice is a more correct term as he obviously PREFERS being the opposite gender
