both sides are doing this and frankly, it's annoying.
NO CIVIL DISCUSSION IN MY FACEPUNCH
do away with ratings then
by the way, choice is a more correct term as he obviously PREFERS being the opposite gender
Gender identity disorder is a bit more severe than just "I prefer to be the opposite gender".
do away with ratings then
ratings are worthless, it's more about the fact that this shit-flinging from both sides is ridiculous
not only in this thread
by the way, choice is a more correct term as he obviously PREFERS being the opposite gender
no because gender isn't something you fucking choose jesus christ
she was born male
that is her sex
her gender seems to be on the female side
so she wants to change her sex to reflect her gender
Am I meant to take people who call transgendered people "transsexual sissies" seriously? If I am then I sincerely apologise for being rude.

I wouldn't take that kind of person seriously.

well yeah exactly. he feels like being a she. he prefers being someone like the opposite sex
well yeah exactly. he feels like being a she. he prefers being someone like the opposite sex
Again, you're missing it. It isn't about preferring to be like someone else, it's that they are that someone.
well yeah exactly. he feels like being a she. he prefers being someone like the opposite sex
what a gross oversimplification of things
you could say that, but i honestly can't find another way to say it without going into large amounts of unnecessary detail and specific-ness
Again, you're missing it. It is about preferring to be like someone else, it's that they are that someone.
I think you're understating the severity of gender dysphoria. It's not just "preferring" to be the opposite gender, it's usually coupled with depression and an inability to function in your current gender (and yes, I know I should really be using sex here, but I prefer using gender because sex implies the issue is only related to aversion of the genitals.)

My apologies, I meant to write "isn't". If you look at earlier posts, I was criticizing KingKombat for referring to it as "prefer".
How the hell can a kid become a transvestite before their mum even stops helping them change?
[editline]29th October 2011[/editline]
I blame the mother for this abomination.
A Transvestite is someone who enjoys cross dressing for sexual pleasure and entertainment purposes like drag. A Transvestite is NOT someone with Gender Identity Disorder.

Potatoes, potatoes. It makes no real difference, neither is normal.

Sexual fetishism is normal. GID/GD is a recognised medical condition / mental illness in most developed countries. Please just stop posting in these threads, you have no idea what you're saying and the garbage you spew out is dumb and offensive.

Some prepubescent girls are tomboys. Normally they grow out of it. What's to say the same doesn't apply to gender confused boys? I don't see why you find common sense offensive.

Why are you confusing tomboys and gender confused individuals? Are you expecting people to conform to gender roles?
Why are you confusing tomboys and gender confused individuals? Are you expecting people to conform to gender roles?
I'm not confusing them. I'm comparing them.
I'm not confusing them. I'm comparing them.
Except tomboys are just girls who like doing guyish stuff. These two things shouldn't be compared as tomboys are only seen differently to normal girls because of an entirely artificial social construct. People with GID genuinely feel that they were born as the wrong sex, not that they like one end of the spectrum more than the other.

It may be a medical condition but it isn't something anybody is born with. It's something that happened or the way they're brought up that influenced them.
Notice how most gay people have no loving father?
You can't just brush it all off as a medical condition and have them do whatever they want.

I used to have someone with GID in my gaming community. I was fine with it as long as he didn't go over the top. We even made him an admin.
And then he started flirting with one of my head admins. He threatened some of our other admins from sort of superiority complex. I had had enough. I banned him, and explained the whole situation to the rest of the community. Up until that point, I was the only one in the community who knew he was actually a guy and not a girl.
So; in conclusion, the only people with GID that I have had contact with so far turned out to be mentally unstable. Not to say all are, but it's not a good start.

Now you're just generalising, and even worse using Freudian concepts of gender and sexuality. This is way that these people are and you need to support them.

You've known one person with GID and you're making assumptions about everyone with it because of that? And I notice you're calling them 'him', mind explaining if that was their gender identiy or if you're just being disrespectful?
Ah, just reread it, you're just being disrespectful then. Nice touch, it really helps your argument.
You've known one person with GID and you're making assumptions about everyone with it because of that? And I notice you're calling them 'him', mind explaining if that was their gender identiy or if you're just being disrespectful?
He was a guy, but identified to everyone as a girl. I refer to him as male because that is what he is. I'm not saying all people with GID are mentally unstable; however it is the only person in my community who I have ever thought of as mentally unstable. We have homosexuals, people with ADHD, so on so forth, and I have found none of them to be incapable of having administrator rights without abusing them or threatening other community members with them.
The guy with GID in question however; is the only one ever in four years to have displayed such activity.
And I notice you're calling them 'him', mind explaining if that was their gender identiy or if you're just being disrespectful?
The article calls the 7 year old a boy. Is it being disrespectful too?
He was a guy, but identified to everyone as a girl. I refer to him as male because that is what he is.
She didn't "identify to everyone" as a girl, her gender identity was that of a girl. You're acting as if its lying to use your gender online instead of your sex. She probably would have suffered a lot of abuse about it in real life and just wanted to be treated like a girl online. Maybe other weird stuff did happen (I wasn't there to see it, and I certainly don't trust you to retell it truthfully), but that shouldn't affect the basic level of respect that you give these individuals. Calling her by male pronouns is just immature, and makes it very difficult for me to take you seriously.

The mother of this 7 year old calls her son a boy; is she immature?
Before I revealed the circumstances after banning him for the blatant abuse to other members and admins, I never used gender specific terms, instead normally using his username. Why? Because I respected the fact that his mental disorder is none of my business.
Afterwards, I saw no need to. He is no longer part of the community, and the people who were involved deserve to know the truth - that the "girl" flirting with them, was actually a guy.
Why not just lump both boy and girl scouts together

I haven't been able to watch the video as I'm on a shitty connection that won't load the page, which is where I'm assuming you're getting this from as it's not in the article, so I have no idea what the context is. At any rate, it's certainly not disrespectful to say that a transgender individual is an "X that wants to become a Y", whereas what you're doing is just saying that they're an "X".
Furthermore I'm imagining that you were told that she was actually male in confidence, and if so I'm still amazed that you were happy to just shrug off that trust the moment she left.

He threatened to ban one of my most trusted admins over a trivial argument - and I don't use this term to describe internet aquaintences much - but one of my closest steam friends, and he remains such to this day around a year later - and said that he could 'destroy the server within a few minutes'.
That is a break in the trust between me and him, when I gave him the ability to do almost anything on the server. The breach of that trust means I obviously wouldn't feel bad about clearing up the situation with the entire community.
And yes, it is in the video that the mother refers to her child as a boy.
By "clearing up the the situation" you of course mean bringing an irrelevant personal fact into things. I know plenty of secrets of people I've fallen out with, doesn't mean I go around telling everyone about them.
