As cool and deep as this comment is, I'll still get angry when a random shopkeep has his window smashed when he didn't do anything.
Medical bills account for nearly 60% of all US bankruptcies. Over 600,000 people, every single year, are financially ruined because they had to visit the hospital for something. Now, we are repealing legislation that expanded health insurance to over 22 million people, and giving more power to private insurance companies to offer worse coverage at higher rates. How is this party not the enemy of the American people, again?
If its not benefiting corporations, its not a GOP plan
How can you as a voter hold your reps accountable if you have no idea what they're doing?
That's a good point, I didn't think about that. Sometimes though I feel like representatives will vote as a hivemind for one party or the other. If it wasn't RED VS BLUE I feel more republicans would have voted the other way. [editline]4th May 2017[/editline]
Yea, they voted no because they realize that this bill is complete and utter trash, and will hurt their constituents more than help them. Changing the ACA is necessary, however this isn't the kind of change that needs to be done.
Trust me I've worked in health care and I know how shit it already is, not to mention what it's going to be after this bullshit. I just have a feeling some republicans voted yes to this because of pressure from the GOP
Why does it feel the the bar for ethics is way lower for Republicans
Among other things, this is sorta making me think twice about moving there and tempting me to cancel visa application. After all, why should I move somewhere where the possibility of going bankrupt for going sick is a possibility.

Most people have insurance through their employer. If you have a full time job and can get a job if you are fired you will be fine. In fact this bill would help you in that case. (but hurt nearly everyone else)
I am actually fucking disgusted right now. I haven't felt this lucky to be a Canadian in years.
Can I count playing hockey as Canadian Work Experience on the CRS?

And that's only looking at the employed population, never mind the unemployed and disabled and so on.

Ya'll need some sort of political and peaceful revolution to completely change everything to do with politics - because god damn if this ain't fucked.
Any Americans considering fleeing to Europe or Canada if this passes the Senate, I don't blame you one bit.
Fuck that, we need to stay and fight. Running away just lets them do whatever they want. Not acceptable.
Fuck that, we need to stay and fight. Running away just lets them do whatever they want. Not acceptable.
It's a losing battle. yeah, you might win a battle here and there, but in the longrun you always lose the war. It's a constant struggle to have basic human rights. I can not blame anyone defecting one bit. They have themselves and their families to worry about, they can't let themselves or their families be brought down by croney politics. it's pay to play here. If you don't have the dough, get on down the road
:alien:
Can somebody make a compilation of his ironic, Obama-era tweets next to the headlines of all the shit he's done this year?
Can't believe these fucking idiots are even in power.
Don't get mad Get even https://swingleft.org/
Don't get mad Get even https://swingleft.org/
Also https://brandnewcongress.org/ Great article I read yesterday:
Don't get mad Get even https://swingleft.org/
And forget these one too. If you care more political issues besides social issues. And also forget about this too. https://justicedemocrats.com/
It's too late for this argument, but I do remember when people here, like sgman, insisted that there was never a point that the republicans damaged the ACA so they could play up how terrible it was. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2016/feb/25/marco-rubio/rubio-we-wiped-out-obamacare-bailout-fund-insuranc/ I honestly have no idea how a single person can support the republican party at this point unless your entire philosophy of life is "Fuck you, I've got mine"
At this point i just hope for Trump and his cohorts to die of a stroke or something equally painful. Fuck them.
Fuck. Hope I don't get sick any time soon
Why do I have to keep Telling people this, Obamacare in its current form is Actively fucking people over in the midwest, with insurances Dropping out of the marketplace.
The only part I dislike about Obamacare is that you have to pay a penalty, and it's not bad enough to strip healthcare from people overnight.
I genuinely have to wonder what this would've meant for me if I had two scoliosis surgeries later when this plan begins to migrate instead of recently. Thankfully I'm in no high risk pool, but knowing that my family has a messy history of conditions, it's indeed worrying. I haven't felt the message "survival of the fittest" in terms of class and genetics was as prevalent until now, and it fuckin sucks to think about that.
I wouldn't. The only thing violence will do is cement this shit. Peaceful protesting is the way to go.
Yeah, definitely, because it's working so well right now isn't it?
How the fuck can you be okay with signing a bill that makes sexual assault a preexisting condition???? Its like people in Congress forget what it means to be human beings. If the Democrats fail in 2018 I think I might as well move since Holy shit what is this
It's too late for this argument, but I do remember when people here, like sgman, insisted that there was never a point that the republicans damaged the ACA so they could play up how terrible it was. I don't know how many people need to die before Republicans will be satisfied with proof that it doesn't work as a form of governance or a national morality, but apparently the answer is "not enough yet".
"Help my child is dying!" "Sorry miss"
Fuck. Hope I don't get sick any time soon
It's time to live up to your handle. Become unstoppable (or become bankrupt). I honestly have no idea how a large enough portion of a country can be so short sighted to not see how fucking AWFUL their right wing (well, far-right compared to most other MEDCs) is for them. And this is coming from someone living in the country-of-foot-shooting that decided leaving an entirely beneficial union was a good fucking idea.
Never enough. As I explained earlier, as long as the GOP/Feds don't EVER touch TV entertainment, and your ability to get on facebook/instagram/twitter/youtube, then you'll NEVER get traction for any sort of change to happen. The american people are entrenched in the "fuck you, got mine" attitude that has been around since the effective beginning of the country. On top of that, thanks to the internet, people really are content to just sit and bitch on twitter/facebook/tumblr, because you have an outlet for your aggression, you can safely sit at home and bitch and complain, instead of going out and doing something. Everyone will sit and say "oh its so sad that little timmy died from a completely operable tumor, OH HEY, my facebook post got a like.. why was I sad earlier?".
Everyone was so afraid of 1984 that they lost sight of Brave New World. And with the snowflake culture, pretty soon we'll hit Harrison Bergeron.
Mr President, please, I can only handle so much winning. :s:
