Speaking of these fucking things. Our school had a event where pupils can perform on stage with whatever the hell they want, and I was asked to do the spotlight. On Thursday two girls sneaked in for some reason while they were NOT supposed to be there, and one of them was carrying a selfie stick and sat down just on the seat row in front of me. I was aiming the spotlight on a pupil on stage, when in all of a sudden one of those girls extended that stick to snap a picture, and it blocked a large chunk of the spotlight beam casting a massive shadow over the podium. To my satisfaction a teacher recognized one of those girls as his own pupil, and he kicked both of them out of the building.
Good, I can't fucking stand seeing people with them Like when I was in Paris last dec, and holy fuck those asian tourist were holding them everywhere. They literally were taking group selfies with a damn lamp post. A GODDAMN LAMP POST.
My cousin in the philippines says they call them gopoors.
I went to a well known park in my country with lots of sightseeing and noticed how people are too busy making pictures (with or without the infamous stick) of literally EVERYTHING rather than having a good time. You know when you see historical photographs of people wearing silly clothes or whatever and you think 'man, people were retarded back then'. That's 2015 right there.
people seem to have this misconception that if you have a phone in your hand you cannot possibly be having a good time. sharing a video of a concert with your friend, who couldn't make it? ugh, not living in the moment and enjoying anything, what an inconsiderate asshole!! seriously - i dislike being in pictures and I don't regularly take selfies, but who gives half a shit what other people do? unless they're literally holding their phone as high up as possible for 2 hours in a row (which literally nobody does, and i go to plenty of concerts), you're the people being inconsiderate. this is as petty as getting upset that people are walking too slow on the sidewalk - you can say they're oblivious and not living in the moment and they're so inconsiderate to everyone around them, but in reality you're the one who's going "WOW WHAT DICKHEADS GET OUT OF -MY- WAY I DESERVE TO GET PAST YOU!" it's not egoistic to take picture, it's egoistic to be so self-absorbed that you get upset at someone else for doing something you personally don't like or to say that someone doing something mildly (barely) disruptive is "ruining the whole experience."
I just dont see the point of taking a picture of something and then having your face block half of the shot.
Probably because the whole point of the picture is to depict "you at a place" rather than just "a place" which has been photographed millions of times
