It would be twice the amount if they did a PC port
There's not going to be a single GTA5 thread without a post like this until the PC release.
I was in and out of my Gamestop last night pretty fast. ended up getting my copy at 12:10, and I was at the end of the line. Also I won a display box. Thanks Obama
it still baffles my mind how a game like Call of Duty was on the top of that list.
it still baffles my mind how a game like Call of Duty was on the top of that list.
Why does it? Call of Duty is a first-person shooter in a popular setting which is easy to pick up and play. It's also pretty 'social' as a game in that everyone plays with their friends. The game runs pretty well resulting in a universally fluid experience and it has a levelling system which is relatively rewarding. All of those things would point to a big seller based on the 'well my friends are getting it' mentality, and people who want more following the previous game.
it still baffles my mind how a game like Call of Duty was on the top of that list.
It's fun as hell with friends.
It's fun as hell with friends.
obligatory "so is every game" comment
obligatory "so is every game" comment
Mario Party it's funny with friends (if you still have them)
Anyone want to make bets when the first people will have speedrun through the game? Four days? A week?
Please beat CoD
And yet somehow TTWO'S stock is down almost 3%
The reviews are staggeringly high. 98 on Metacritic for example. I don't think it's a fuckup.
I wouldn't wipe my arse with most 'professional' game reviews. I'll wait until the people I trust to not lie to me and go "LOL 10/10 GOTY ALL YEAR EVERY YEAR" five minutes in to play it. I'll be waiting that long anyway since I'm playing it on PC and it will be a while before the port shows up. I'm not saying it's going to be bad, but I am saying that A: Reviews are bullshit and B: Smashing pre-order records is no guarantee of quality. See: Modern Warfare 2. Abysmal garbageheap, set pre-order records anyway. It's possible they cocked it up. Nobody's perfect. Not saying they have but I'm not saying they haven't either. Historically GTA has been a series of winners and I'm fairly certain V will be good, but I'm not going to sit here and say it's going to be GOTY before it's even released...or on release day, as it were. It will be a few months yet before I make my mind up one way or the other regarding GTA V being good or bad.
modern warfare 2 was great
It was good. MW1 was great.
And yet somehow TTWO'S stock is down almost 3%
People could be selling their shares now as it has probably peaked recently. Assuming I remember how stocks work :v:
People could be selling their shares now as it has probably peaked recently. Assuming I remember how stocks work :v:
If you can't remember, you can always play GTA V and experiment with the stock market there :v:
It would be twice the amount if they did a PC port
but what about the pirates? everyone knows there are no successful PC games in existence, that's why gabe newell is poor and notch is living in the sewers.
It was good. MW1 was great.
mw1 was pretty amazing, mw2 overdid everything
but what about the pirates? everyone knows there are no successful PC games in existence, that's why gabe newell is poor and notch is living in the sewers.
As much as jokes like this are rampant, their PC release of Max Payne 3 was pretty fucking good. Whether it sold well, though, I have no clue.
I don't doubt it at all, there was easily at least 1000 people at the strip mall Gamestop I went to for the midnight release. Fortunately, my 360 which I haven't touched in seven years still works. [sp]Unfortunately, its 13GB HDD only has 7GB available after system files. GTAV requires 8GB.[/sp]
I have a 16GB hard drive and I had 2GB left after turning my Xbox on. I just removed enough to have 10GB for GTA.
As much as jokes like this are rampant, their PC release of Max Payne 3 was pretty fucking good. Whether it sold well, though, I have no clue.
MP3 was also meant from the beginning to be on PC, seeing as the originals were on PC and it'd be a huge backlash from the fans if they didn't. Whether you like it or not, Rockstar is being pretty smart about waiting for a PC Port- they know many will buy it a second time around. Notice that good economic practice and being an absolute saint are pretty much on opposite ends of the spectrum.
Yeah I've seen plenty of people here on FP that bought consoles only to get GTA V, and there'll also be plenty of people who will only get the game on the 2 platforms because of the time in between the release dates
As much as jokes like this are rampant, their PC release of Max Payne 3 was pretty fucking good. Whether it sold well, though, I have no clue.
I always cite max payne 3 as the best port of all time. honestly, that game gave me 60 FPS almost maxed when I still had a fucking 5770. and that's on launch. how many games can you think of from the last few years that worked perfectly on launch, especially on AMD hardware. I'm still in awe of max payne 3. Notice that good economic practice and being an absolute saint are pretty much on opposite ends of the spectrum.
they would probably make a lot more money if they did it the other way around. did it on PC first then consoles after. all the reviews would be of the definitive version with much better visuals and performance, plus all the demos and trailers would reflect this. that's better publicity for them. a lot more people on PC would buy it instead of pirating it because they'd be less paranoid of a shitty console port, a lot of console players would likely end up buying it on steam and trying to play it on their $200 PCs (I've encountered many people who do this), they'd end up having to buy it again on their console later.
its cool that grand theft auto is popular but can people please stop pre-ordering games, that business model is entirely what allows studios to publish products like duke nukem forever, sim city, and aliens colonial marines without going bankrupt. if, thanks to preorder hype, a game doesn't even have to be playable to break even then things are going to get a lot worse for the consumer [editline]17th September 2013[/editline] and preorders would absolve them of any consequences for delivering a shoddy product to consumers
^ he's right you know
^ he's right you know
it's a good point but it's easier said than done. a lot of publishers/developers have created far too many reasons to pre order their games, especially on steam where you usually get a pretty decent discount and sometimes you get items for other games from it too, in addition to the day 1 DLC that usually comes with pre-orders. that being said, there's not nearly enough criticism when something like that happens, I think most of us know not to trust gearbox ever again and they are going to suffer financial consequences for their behaviour. it's too bad most devs get away with it though
