I guess you could say that Spain... has allowed file-sharing.
Stop it with the purposely unfunny puns, they're stupid.
This is not a good thing.
Spain don't care much, too busy with border policing Most drugs are decriminalised too
Why is it always- P2P fuck yeah! P2P involving anything valve related- Go fuck yourself you dirty pirate
So, as long as a game costs too much it's ok to pirate it?
That's for you to decided and anyone else asking the question. [editline]03:02PM[/editline]
Why is it always- P2P fuck yeah! P2P involving anything valve related- Go fuck yourself you dirty pirate
This is facepunch we love Valve.
Until you start selling the pirated copies. [editline]02:50PM[/editline] That's more there own fault for overpricing it.
hahaha, why do you think they're overpriced?
Copying and stealing aren't the same, why don't people understand this?
no im pretty sure taking/using a product for sale is illegal without purchasing it
hahaha, why do you think they're overpriced?
I paid $15 for Braid which is much longer and better, World of Goo is $20 costs more and is not as good. Logical idea is its over priced.
Why is it always- P2P fuck yeah! P2P involving anything valve related- Go fuck yourself you dirty pirate
Hypocricy.
I always wanted to live in Spain, now's the time.
Whenever there's a thread about copyright infringement, the masses of Facepunch who advocate piracy come along and cheer and rate each other agree to a painful degree. Excuse me while I go and find that post I made on piracy and how it effects profits.
It's theft of the profit. Nobody makes a penny when you make a copy of something. It's nothing to do with whether the original remains or not, it's whether you're paying what is being asked. The "I wouldn't have bought it anyway" argument is bollocks. If there wasn't freely copies of everybloodything floating around then you would sure as hell spend your money on games. You only have a little bit of cash, not enough to buy a game. So you pirate a game. While in the process of playing that game you save enough money to buy a game, but you don't because you're playing the game you downloaded. Instead you spend the money on something on a whim. Time passes. You've finished your pirated game and want another game, oh no you spent all your money on that life sized donkey idol and can't afford one... So you download one... Obviously it's not always as plain as that, but it can still work that way. "I buy it anyway if it's good. They should release more demos". Yes, demos would be nice. They don't seem to stop people from pirating games though, do they?
Substitute "games" with "DVDs" or "CDs" and it's the same thing.
Piracy isn't stealing, but it's like stealing, you're taking away the possible revenue, and it could make companies bankrupt. The reason why extreme DRM's exist is so that they can make money, but it never works, and they end up hurting the customers. Pirates are going to be the end of PC gaming if that were to happen, no one will want to make games for the PC if they expect a large % of people to pirate it, it isn't your fault that you pirate, games are expensive I know...But its a viscous cycle.
Hypocricy.
Robinhood. Facepunch probably feels bad about stealing from actual good companies who care about their userbase.
Personally I love Valve's stance on the issue, that the majority of pirates are just unsatisfied customers. When piracy rates in Russia were through the roof, Valve didn't install some shit DRM, they just localized the content, and guess what, the rates went down!
Hope spain is ready for shitstorm

The biggest thing is with less people playing the game, less it gets talked about, and results in less people knowing about it who might buy it. So Piracy isn't all bad for game being sold.
Well, alright!
FUCK YOU! I was about to say this!
:smug:

Spend 50 dollars on a game, or get it for free?
so, pirate crusaders, riddle me this: if piracy was legal, whats my incentive or anyone else's to buy the damn game/movie? Instead of spending $50, I could just hit up a warez site, and download the game. No one can stop me because it's legal. you guys do realize not all of you guys are crusader knights rebelling against evil DRM and most of pirates are those who don't give a shit?
Not being theft doesn't mean it should not be illegal. It's a serious problem for PC gaming, look at world of goo. The two guys who made it reported 90% of the people who owned the game pirated it. That may have been a high estimate, but do you honestly think that it is ok for those two people to not receive payment from 90% of the people playing their game?
The games is about moving shit, the game itself is shit, and look at the shitty price.
"What difference is it going to make if just one person pirates this game?" - tens of thousands of people
Oh no, they're not going to make millions anymore, I feel horrible now.

But the value of the product is reduced.
Why everyone would buy it out of the goodness of their hearts of course! :downs:
This is exactly why piracy should be stopped, no one has any reason to buy them if they can get it for free [editline]03:38PM[/editline]
The games is about moving shit, the game itself is shit, and look at the shitty price. Oh no, they're not going to make millions anymore, I feel horrible now.
This has more lasting effects you idiot, why would anyone want to spend millions (or whatever the price to make a game and maintain a company) to make a game, if they won't get ANY chance at making it back.
Yes it is, more word of mouth the more likely it is for people to get it, true, but what are you more likely to do? Spend 50 dollars on a game, or get it for free?
If it's worth it, pay the money. Unless you got no respect for companies, in which case nothing much can help.

Plus most people feel better paying for the game if they really do like it and will just to feel better. If a mod lets me give some examples I can support what I said.
If it's worth it, pay the money. Unless you got no respect for companies, in which case nothing much can help.
People would still rather pay nothing than 50$. Sure they MIGHT shell out the money for the devs, but what are the chances of that, honestly.
