But its not real theft, it just makes a copy. :downs:
Ya so its totally ok, hur dur i dont understand how companies make money :saddowns:
That's more there own fault for overpricing it.
World of Goo was not overpriced.
It really depends on if they want to support the dev or they just really like the game if they buy it. Plus most people feel better paying for the game if they really do like it and will just to feel better.
If a mod lets me give some examples I can support what I said.
Ah yes, a system reliant solely on voluntary goodwill. What could possibly go wrong?
But the value of the product is reduced.
good point.
so, pirate crusaders, riddle me this:
if piracy was legal, whats my incentive or anyone else's to buy the damn game/movie? Instead of spending $50, I could just hit up a warez site, and download the game. No one can stop me because it's legal.
you guys do realize not all of you guys are crusader knights rebelling against evil DRM and most of pirates are those who don't give a shit?
Well, at this moment it is still possible to go to a warez site and download whatever you'd like to, without anyone knowing it or getting any trouble. I doubt whether anything will change if piracy becomes legal. I think it will only change if you can get expelled from the internet if you download copyrighted stuff, but that's ridicilous.
The people here are usually legal customers who have bought the game legally. Then the shitty drm which is supposed to prevent illegal copies, prevents the legal players from playing the game properly. Then it gets cracked and the customers become angry, because of the thought that they added something completely useless to the game which annoys the shit out of them.
DRM encourages crackers if you ask me.
People would still rather pay nothing than 50$. Sure they MIGHT shell out the money for the devs, but what are the chances of that, honestly.
If people would rather pay nothing for things we wouldn't have all these things being sold.
Ah yes, a system reliant solely on voluntary goodwill. What could possibly go wrong?
Nothing that's pretty much how it is right now in the gaming market.
You have to remember you have the choice to buy a product or not buy it.
People would still rather pay nothing than 50$. Sure they MIGHT shell out the money for the devs, but what are the chances of that, honestly.
Because not everyone wants to pay 50$ for a 4-6 hour gameplay?

What do you mean "if" that's how it is. There are the people who do it out of respect, and it does happen, like for Valve's games y'know? The only reason these things are sold is because of the respect thing, or they can't torrent, or don't know how to.
This is exactly why piracy should be stopped, no one has any reason to buy them if they can get it for free
[editline]03:38PM[/editline]
This has more lasting effects you idiot, why would anyone want to spend millions (or whatever the price to make a game and maintain a company) to make a game, if they won't get ANY chance at making it back.
they do get it back, look at now, piracy is still a 'problem' and people can still easily pirate games without getting into trouble, and game companies still earn money.
Imagine tomorrow piracy becomes very legal, nothing much will change.
Because not everyone wants to pay 50$ for a 4-6 hour gameplay?
Those 4-6 hours of gameplay were still created by a team of employees, who should expect to see some reward for the work they put into it.
Because not everyone wants to pay 50$ for a 4-6 hour gameplay?
Usually 4-6 HR gameplay has a strong MP to back it up, which can last longer than even 100 HRS.

I wonder if there's a statistic that shows how much a certain game cost to make, how many people torrented it, and how much they made back.
Those 4-6 hours of gameplay were still created by a team of employees, who should expect to see some reward for the work they put into it.
But then you cannot expect a game to be $50. If it is, people will simply not buy the game, and pirate it instead.
What do you mean "if" that's how it is. There are the people who do it out of respect, and it does happen, like for Valve's games y'know? The only reason these things are sold is because of the respect thing, or they can't torrent, or don't know how to.
I was talking in general and working then buying something feels much better than stealing it. I buy things where I don't respect the company at all but that doesn't mean anything in the end.
On the 4-6 hour games tend to have great MP people buy the game for not the SP so don't use that as a excuse because you don't want pay.
But then you cannot expect a game to be $50. If it is, people will simply not buy the game, and pirate it instead.
There is still a person who is working a 9 to 5 job making the product, a person whose work is being take by others for free.

You make a shit job, you get a shit reward.
Usually 4-6 HR gameplay has a strong MP to back it up, which can last longer than even 100 HRS.

People who want the MP bought the game anyway. You can't play mp on pirated game.
And also needs a statistic of how much people bought it after torrenting it.

it will change everything if its announced piracy is announced. Most people who don't pirate are usually paranoid of downloading illegally and getting caught after MAFIAA makes lawsuits left and right. Make it legal, you'll see torrent leechers skyrocket because people realize they don't have to buy stuff. It's human nature wanting to just take something.
guess why we have DRM and I'm forced to install it?
oh you guys.
also, do you guys think videogame production fees don't exist and every production crew do it out of good will? Business sims are rarely like real life.
I wonder if people living in Spain can get banned for warez now on FP
I wonder if people living in Spain can get banned for warez now on FP
If it's outside of goldmember forum they still can.
You make a shit job, you get a shit reward.

A shit reward is still a shit reward, not jack shit.

I've never seen anyone who said 'I'm not pirating because I might get sued and jailed and ..". Pirating is easy, everyone knows how to do it (and even if you don't, you can easily find out) and nothing will change if piracy becomes legal.
A shit reward is still a shit reward, not jack shit.
It's not like not a single copy is sold. Most of the time they earn enough or more money. Rarely do devs go bankrupt because of no one buying their game. And if that happens, it must've been really shitty.
There is still a person who is working a 9 to 5 job making the product, a person whose work is being take by others for free.
Perhaps you have to wonder why the game is actually being taken for free.
And also needs a statistic of how much people bought it after torrenting it.
That goes with the "how much they made back" thing
I've never seen anyone who said 'I'm not pirating because I might get sued and jailed and ..". Pirating is easy, everyone knows how to do it (and even if you don't, you can easily find out) and nothing will change if piracy becomes legal.
I've never seen anyone who said "I'm pirating because I am a knight crusader and this is not stealing".
okay, BrQ, I have a question for you.
If you saw a game you wanted, would you spend 50 bucks or hit up your warez site to get it free?
Now imagine other people's answers if piracy becomes lega.
I've never seen anyone who said "I'm pirating because I am a knight crusader and this is not stealing".

I wanted STALKER Clear Sky, I had the choice but I went out and spent money on it.
I wanted STALKER Clear Sky, I had the choice but I went out and spent money on it.
If I knew it was worth it, I would buy it even if warez were legal.
As I said, if you have respect for devs, you will buy the good games.

thats bullshit and you know it, downloading a game for free instead of buying it is the easy way out.
and everyone loves the easy way out.

For me, it would depend. For example, when I saw that Modern Warfare 2 was released, I bought it for the xbox, because I knew I would enjoy it. And I did.
When I see a game, it's 40 euros, reviews say that the games is good for 3 hours and no more, I would not buy it.
So I wouldn't hit the warez site to get it for free, atleast, not immedeatly.
im pretty people who pirate because they're cheapwads and can't arse to get a job is exactly like you.
No I don't have a job but if you just said I didn't buy it you sir are really wrong.
I still don't know how I lost gold but you still are a gold.
