Yeah I use the cloud for backing up, not for my main source of data access. Plus so many programs have support for dropbox or box, so easy, quick uploads.
Got the 50GB storage, thanks op

For example, in each of these folders are save games for games that I wanted to back up saves from. And the way Symlinks work, the game thinks that the Dropbox folder is the actual save folder. Now all of my saves are instantly on the cloud the moment they are created.
This is good news for me. I have a few gigs of EvE Online footage I need to send to a corpmate, and I can just up it to this and give him the link.
Use Winrar, as your recordings probably are uncompressed, their size will shrink from 1 gig to 80MB or so.
50 gigs of free cloud storage? Oh well.
Max file size = 100mb
2 gigs actually.
I've never seen the point in Cloud Storage personally. I don't really do ANYTHING that really makes me go, "Oh, if only I had this on my cloud storage!"
It's handy for shit like I'm doing. My upload speed is far too slow and unstable to do a direct file transfer, but I can up it to the cloud where that isnt an issue.
Good old HDD and flash drives and etc work just fine for my needs.
Not feasible for what I'm doing. I need to shift 12 gigs and I don't feel like risking the postal service mutilating a flash drive. It will take too damn long to do now though, I'll set it churning before I go to bed.
How do you get 8GB of pictures? [editline]26th February 2012[/editline] No seriously, my entire photos folder in Windows is 1.6GB :v: And that's allot of LMAO pics browsing too...
Uncompressed and/or large resolution pictures. Or just a lot of porn.
Registered, got my 50gb, and found out you can't direct link pictures without an upgraded account. Fucking useless.
You can get up to 10gb on dropbox if you get a referral and some other stuff and upload like 8gigs of pictures using the beta
Ohrly? [editline]27th February 2012[/editline]
I recorded videos that cost 1gb each and just kept syncing them. It took an entire afternoon but then...
You didn't have to sync them, the video/image recognition only had to load them and that's it. As soon as the files were in your dropbox folder and the sync had started you could remove them.
Just registered three android devices for a grand total of 150gb free. Thanks, op.
Just registered my 4th

Much easier to do on Linux/Unix. I tried using Dropbox for game save files on Windows, but I went with Spider Oak because as I said before they passionate about technology. And it allows you to select which folders to backup. You don't just throw shit into one folder, so if you have save files scattered all over the place, you just tell SpiderOak to sync those folders. No dicking around with symlinks in Windows.

Thanks for share it. I already have another services, but 50GB will be very useful.
I wish I understood why people really need more than 5 GB on cloud storage services. I haven't even occupied a single gigabyte in my Dropbox yet.
I wish I understood why people really need more than 5 GB on cloud storage services. However, I might just use Amazon's Cloud Player, since it allows streaming and I get music from them anyway.
Damn I need an android. I would have a good use for this storage.
I would've gotten it already but it feels kinda useless to me since it doesn't have auto-syncing, and I'm a lazy bum so I can't be arsed to upload files manually.
Is there any way to use this to automatically backup my entire SD card, on a schedule?
Is there any way to use this to automatically backup my entire SD card, on a schedule?
Find a backup program that automatically syncs with box. I know titaniumbackup has dropbox integration, so you could make that upload to dropbox, and then have box fetch it from your dropbox.
Unless you have confidential data or illegal material, I dont think encryption is really necessary.
I've been using this site for years :argh:
Unless you have confidential data or illegal material, I dont think encryption is really necessary.
Thanks for stating your opinion.
Thanks for stating your opinion.
No problem mate, you should try it sometime.
Thanks for stating your opinion.
In an open forum?! The HORROR
Cloud storage would be useful to me if every website involving it wasn't blocked at the fucking school.

Box is terribad. Despite the 50GB space, you can only download/upload a certain amount per month.
Google needs to launch its cloud service. im using dropbox right now and its pretty sweet, but anything google comes out with is generally awesome.
Personally waiting for a skydrive desktop client instead. In part because the integration with WP7 and office is realy nice.
