When I was fat, and even to this day, I didn't mind when people called me fat in a non-demeaning way, you know why? Because I was fat, so people refered to me by what I was.
90% of the time it's your fault anyway for eating so much shit so get the fuck over it like I did.
I also like how the store implies Girls and Women are two separate genders.
Girls are young females, and woman aren't so young.
(In this context)
I once called a kid fat in primary school. He cried and told the teacher; I got after school detention. So, yes, apparently the word "fat" upsets fatties.
There's no reason that this couldn't have just been 'plus size'. 'Fat girl' is wholly unnecessary and gets the exact same point across whilst also insulting your target audience. It's the same reason why darker makeup products are 'for darker skin', not 'for [insert slur aimed at black people of choice here]'. It might be euphemistic, yes, but not every word for the same thing has the exact same meaning and context.
are you going to try to tell me that being called 'fat' isn't insulting
It's insulting because society has made it insulting.
When I was fat, and even to this day, I didn't mind when people called me fat in a non-demeaning way, you know why? Because I was fat, so people reffered to me by what I was.

Everyone bow down to this poster's personal opinion as fact.
How's about people don't be assholes?
I also like how the store implies Girls and Women are two separate genders.
Makes sense in the context of a clothing store, although I'm surprised at the lack of a "Boys" option.
Not to mention that most of these costumes, or at least the models, aren't what the majority of people would call 'fat' anyway unless they have stupidly high expectations. This is literally plus size, unless you believe anything above an 8 is fat.

Well now that's just stupid and you deserved what you got.
It's insulting because society has made it insulting.
That is typically how words work, yes.
Holy crap, my automerge is a mess.

It bothers me when like one dude is like no I don't mind being called fat acts like that's the official rule now.
It's really not that hard to grab someone who can state that being called fat has made them feel miserable, and, for many people, made them eat even more.
It's insulting because society has made it insulting.
Why does the fact that 'society made it insulting' make it being insulting invalid?
It's insulting because society has made it insulting.
you tried to invalidate the insult with this but it really didn't work
Honestly don't get why "plus size" is even a thing. Why can't they be included in the regular sizes like men's clothing?
Honestly don't get why "plus size" is even a thing. Why can't they be included in the regular sizes like men's clothing?
Because of how women's clothing fits with curves and the like.
Thought this was going to be a Fat Boys reboot type thing where they were replaced by women.
I am comforted knowing reality is worse than my imagination.
i just think it's unprofessional. calling somebody fat, while it may just be a statement, can be taken as an insult. argue about that all you want, but the fact that "fat girls" can even remotely be taken as an insult should be a red flag for Walmart. i would've played it safe and just labeled it XXL sizes or something, and just try to offend the least amount of people.
If they weren't gonna say "fat girl" then they would have said "plus size costumes."
Plus size is just a nice way of saying you're a fat ass.

no, 90% its your parents fault for being shitty parents and not teaching you how normal people eat.
assuming you were still young, obviously as you get older its more your fault.

Generally speaking, if you're trying to sell things to people you tend to try and be nice to them. This is pretty unprofessional.

I'm sorry if calling you fat might be insulting,
but for me it's just a term for describing the weight of a person.
I was obese from throughout my childhood from 5 to 15 and I know what its like to being insulted
for your appearance and weight, but I never really paid attention to those remarks because
I was what I was.
We are what we are and having to use delicate words just to refer to a group sound stupid imo.

are you for real
stop arguing about the differences between child and adult clothing. they aren't the same
are you for real

Where did I say they are the same? Are you even reading?
I am saying they differ in ways that cannot be fit under the classification of gender as obviously, the gender is the thing they have in common?
It's rude and bad for business so they shouldn't be doing it. End of story.
That it's pretty rude? They could've literally left it as "plus size".
What does that mean exactly? There's a model who is considered plus-sized and she's not fat in the least.
It's insulting because society has made it insulting.
Like every insult ever?
They didn't make fat women feel bad, the fat women felt bad about themselves beforehand. A mirror would do the same job as this website.
So it might as well call people niggers or faggots if it does apply to their race or sexual orientation? Fact's a fact, right? Justifies the word?
Or perhaps are some word simply rude and unacceptable due to their origin or nuances of their meaning even when they might be fitting?
how do you guys not understand why this is rude and unprofessional?
you wouldn't use "faggot" or "retard" on your multinational corporation's website would you??
yes
