notice how airsoft guns have an orange tip to indicate that they are toys???
also iirc if manufacturing an airsoft gun and its in bright colors that signifies its a toy
see the problem here? The pink 1911 really has no indication of its lethality
Except for when there is absolutely no difference aesthetically between airsoft and actual guns, which happens more often than not. The orange tip isn't mandatory, and many people prefer airsoft guns that are as realistic to the base model real gun as possible, not painted in bright colours.
And if the colour of a gun makes it seem any less lethal or potentially dangerous to you then quite simply you shouldn't own or be around guns.
And the same criminals who are mixed in well with the drug trade will find getting firearms just as easy as ever. Actually more so.
So far nobody for gun control has been able to find a solution to this argument, and until they do, guns in the U.S. aren't going anywhere. No matter how much both sides debate.
The black market is sustained by the legitimate one.
Why make anything illegal then, by this logic? Surely if criminals will just ignore the law, it won't matter, right?
Because with most illegal things, there isn't a wider majority using it responsibly
Sorry, try again

We have an open border with Canada and Mexico.
We have an open border with Canada and Mexico.
Yes, and firearms flow south over the border.
Not North.
I'm sure Mexico would appreciate it.

As long as tons of illegal shit is constantly being smuggled in from Mexico and other places, it will be no challenge at all for anybody to get a gun at any time.
Plus, you can't get rid of the ones already here.
So, as the cliche goes, you'd only be taking them from law-abiding citizens.

Guns are not made in Mexico and smuggled over.
Guns are made in the USA and smuggled over to the cartels.

During prohibition Canadians frequently provided and sold whiskey to the American rum-runners. im sure the same could be done with guns.

I'm sure they'd be more than happy to sell some back in exchange for some dosh.

You mean like kids?
But that still happens, I mean, let's just take a look at the OP
Blurring the line between a obvious toy and a real firearm is-and-will always be bad.
People who walk around with a airsoft gun not it a carrying bag or with the orange tip removed are also begging for trouble, and for a good reason.
Why make anything illegal then, by this logic? Surely if criminals will just ignore the law, it won't matter, right?
People who intend to kill someone will not care about getting in trouble for possession of an illegal gun. Same way you don't give a shit about getting a parking ticket when you're robbing a bank.
During prohibition Canadians frequently provided and sold whiskey to the American rum-runners. im sure the same could be done with guns.
Okay, so criminals will get access to a fraction of the amount of firearms, at ten times the price and with hardly any ammunition.
Guns are not made in Mexico and smuggled over.

Doesn't matter. They're at a point of such wide circulation, it's impossible to control.
And Mexico doesn't just get stuff from us. It might be a bit more restricted, but they'll still have no problem taking in more weapons.

"hey drug cartel!!"
"wassup gun runners"
"so would you mind selling some of the guns we just smuggled over the border back to us so we can smuggle them back over the border?"
"what the heck gun runners y not just keep them there???"
^literally never going to happen
Okay, so criminals will get access to a fraction of the amount of firearms, at ten times the price and with hardly any ammunition.
How exactly did you find those factors?
The point is they are still available and no amount of regulation can prevent that.
Okay, so criminals will get access to a fraction of the amount of firearms, at ten times the price and with hardly any ammunition.
And just like with past prohibition attempts, having everything done under the table will only lead to more crime and more violence.

If they could make money they will do it. Do you not know how criminal organizations work?
Guns are not made in Mexico and smuggled over.

The moment you ban all guns in the US it will become the largest demand for illegal guns in known universe.
Do you honestly think that nobody's gonna attempt to get rich on that? They are smuggling tonnes of drugs into the country. They also smuggle people in, and people cannot be dissembled and assembled once within borders. Do you really think there won't be a massive number of illegal guns smuggled into US?
What's that? Guns are hard to make? So are some of the drugs you can get on every second corner. And where's that video of a guy making an AK out of a shovel...
Guns are not made in Mexico and smuggled over.

And the black market continues to grow until people get their finger out and starts cracking down on it.
And the most obvious step is starting to starve the black market's supply of "fresh" firearms, since that'll jack up the price for a stolen firearm, and as such the likelihood of a petty convenience store robber getting their hands on one is less.
And just like with past prohibition attempts, having everything done under the table will only lead to more crime and more violence.
have you ever tried to manufacture a gun?
booze is quite simple to make compared to a firearm that could be used effectively
And just like with past prohibition attempts, having everything done under the table will only lead to more crime and more violence.
As opposed to now?
have you ever tried to manufacture a gun?

For five bucks I could make a shotgun out of drainage pipe.
As opposed to now?
Yes. Violence has been in a steep decline for decades now, and the only time it's ever gone up is when a stupid law has been passed that promotes illegal activity.
have you ever tried to manufacture a gun?

Its not even that, its ammunition which gets hit the hardest. They get used up, lost, captured, degraded pretty damn quickly.
The average illegal firearm in the UK barely has enough bullets for a single magazine.
Its such a problem that our gangs are forced to manufacture their own bullets using ball-bearings. Needles to say they're woefully ineffective and rarely kill.

Fairly easy to make a one-shot-then-tedious-reloading-process one.
Not gonna be very accurate though.
Now making a solid & practical firearm is a long and tedious process.
thanks nodachi i was going to mention that
alcohol is a one part system; just booze
guns are a binary system; bullets are useless without a gun, guns are a metal stick without bullets
Such a massive and baseless generalization it's not even funny.
i dunno its pretty funny

Well there'd be plenty of violence to go around before people somehow started running out of ammo.
Every time there's paranoia about gun control, the ammo market booms and it's quite literally all over the place right now.
Give people enough motivation ($) and they will do everything, including guns and ammo. It's only a matter of profit.
And I'm pretty sure taking over a multi million dollar industry is a good motivation for some people.

are you in middle school
are you in middle school
the cartel needs their guns to kill people and enforce their regime
of course they'll be kind enough to sell them back brickinhead
