The only problem I have with these stories is the alcohol. If a 20 year old woman and a 12 year old boy both wanted to have sex with each other, I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to.
I never really understood the sexual concept behind minors and adults.
Because someone that young hasn't mentally developed enough to truly realize the consequences of doing something like that? There's a reason they call the Age of Consent what it is.
Stories like these are why I can't take feminists seriously.
what does this have to do with feminists? feminists are all for the equal treatment of sexual crimes fyi.
in fact the sexism is the idea that when a woman rapes someone it's either funny or cool so it's not as serious which is a very anti-feminist idea.
basically you don't know what the hell you are talking about and have probably never read anything by any feminist ever.
What a crusty looking bitch
I knew just from the title this thread would be 75% people complaining about how a man wouldn't get away with this.
Oh Facepunch, you so predictable.
it's hilarious because many male rapists won't even make it as far as court
fyi for FP's information most male rapists do not receive prison time and many are not even reported.
so the idea that if it is a man he would get the death sentence or something is totally false.
who would bang that
who would bang that
elbows too pointy for you?
well it wasn't rape and the kids were 1 year to a few months under the legal age of consent
If i were a judge I would dismiss this case too, no one got hurt, and no one needs to get hurt by a tainted record and/or prison time
well it wasn't rape
How do you know?

If it were a man in this position I doubt you'd be saying that and even if you were it'd still be nonsensical.
Men in my experience can be marginally far more aggressive and violent simply by nature, but women, if they actually have bad intent, can be far more malicious and possibly even much worse in jail.
Yeah, I think I mentioned something about women in prison being more violent.
It happens less, and is reported far less outside prison.

What's this, in Sierra Leone?
If she's now getting treatment for her problems, good.
If she isn't, surely this is chancing the same thing happening again.
And who said women doesn't get it easy? "Low-self esteem" indeed.

He would either get away with it on the basis of the woman 'asking for it', get put in prison, or it wouldn't get reported at all. One of the three.

The 4th option is a community based order, like this woman got.
The 3rd is most likely, the 1st tends to present in a lot of cases, and the 2nd is as about as likely as the 4th.
Nice.

And rape has a low conviction rate (although that's largely due to the fact that many cases have little evidence apart from the victim's and the rapist's claims, and of course in that case the rapist will almost always be found innocent - innocent until proven guilty. Plus rape has an unfortunate reputation - partially because it is so difficult to prove - as a crime used by women who made a mistake and don't want to take the blame for it).

I agree, I'm a female and feel pretty strongly about equal rights but I hesitate to call myself feminist because people think that means "man hating psycho". I honestly think it's stupid that this girl gets off with a slap on the wrist but if it were a man that man would probably get punished. I don't think that's fair at all.

Thinking about it, this is very possible. It's disgusting that people use things like how the victim was dressed to imply that they were "asking for it".
Getting raped by a woman is all fun and games until you get raped by an old fat whale.

um... feminism isn't just about "omg women have it so bad" you know. feminism is about establishing equality of gender. the news article in this thread clearly shows there is no equality of gender so if anything "stories like these" are why you should be taking feminists very seriously
you utter mong
