which was originally in response to xbox games for gold, which was in response to PS+ Games, which was in response to nintendo. It's all about that sweet sweet competition.
Except, you had to pay for PS+ and Gold, whilst you don't have to pay for Steam. :)
Hm, finally got a chance to try this game out, especially with how many people love this game.
Cool, another game I won't play for a while and will sit in my library
Finally, people to play co-op with! It's been mostly dead ever since the game came out but now? Possibly less so! :D
If you want to know why they do these sales it's so more people look at the Steam Homepage more. Yes there are news articles but it's much easier to glance at the store main page before you start up a game. It's way more convenient to check steam if you have it set to launch on startup than to check up on all your normal news vendors which might not have even posted anything about the free game. I don't give two shits about it though. Valve has been consistently awesome in one way or another you're kind of a dick for not liking them at least a little. Basically it's a tactic to sell more games. People know that if they look at the store main page every day they don't miss out on a free game. What they don't know is that ensures they also know about daily sales and other deals. And plain old advertisement in that ticker that shows 8 or so games over and over. Plus I only have this game for the PS3. It's way more fun on PC. I'm already inclined to look at the store front anyways because well... I have money and these sales are amazing. I got some top dollar games for 5-10 bucks.
Too bad modding for this game apparently never advanced past changing models around

I've always wanted to play it. this is good
This is great news!
No, you're trying too hard, it's to promote sniper elite v3. Tripwire gave RO2 away to promote Rising Storm.
Would it be trying to hard to mention it's on steam.. and well.. only on steam? What about arma cold war assault. This is a new trend.
My 4 most recently acquired games on my steam account have been free-be's :v: I'm not even mad.
So, No, back at ya buddy
Sweet! Now i can shoot nazi dicks whenever i want.
I can't wait to see how they censored this :v:
Would it be trying to hard to mention it's on steam.. and well.. only on steam? What about arma cold war assault. This is a new trend.
Look at my steam friends list. You see tripwire interactive yoshiro there? Yeah, the ro2 promotion had nothing to do with steam. sniper elite is on steam because it's a steamworks title. However, it has nothing to do with promoting steam. Giving games away for free was not an option for devs before valve did it with l4d2. Arma cold war was given away for free to promote the other Arma games that were on sale that week.
Think about this: What if, to avoid the Nazi issue in Germany, a game just outright flipped the sides? It wouldn't be all that controversial around here I think (because games rarely are), but I imagine the US would start a commotion about it.
Do you think this trends a response to origin also doing the free games forever now and then thing?
Don't EA, Sony, MS and Nintendo have a very different publisher/partner relationship with the devs on their platform than Valve does with Steam partners?
This is neat, I guess. To bad the german version is CUT and doesn't even appear in my steam list at all.

:v: if you're library sharing with someone who owns it already, steam gets confused and thinks you're installing the shared one, not a new one.
Pretty neat, wanted to try this series but didn't have the money.
So, No, back at ya buddy
No, none at all, now be quiet
I bought this last sunday..........FUCK FUCK FUCK!

Yo this game owns. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/469811338480120237/642B73DEC0DEED9EAA66BB8D54B80C089C3EB1C8/[/t] Here's me giving some sniper a really bad day at 200 meters.
I was actually planning on buying it on Friday, but looks like Steam has saved me £15 for something else now.
Fucking awesome. I've been interested in this game for a while, and I got an even better on it than a Steam sale would have given. Freebies, wooooo!

Not that i'm too bothered about it; the game's been great fun so far. My favourite moment was [sp]sniping the grenade one of the Russian soldiers being inspected by a commissar had, on that museum level, killing all 5 of them.[/sp]
Too bad the bullet drop is hilariously exaggerated, so much so that I prefer not playing with any bullet drop at all.
