Christopher Nolan approached to direct next 007 film

Just don't use Hans Zimmer for the soundtrack. That would be an odd style for a Bond film.
James Bond is so vast now in what is James Bond that they can do nothing that will please everyone, so it doesn't really matter what they do. For what it's worth I think the more recent trend of the Bond films have been in a kind of ultra realism and Bond doesn't work like that (entirely in my opinion, mind you). Christopher Nolan will be another step in that direction. Casino Royale has been the only good Bond film since the reboot. The rest were Bourne films.
They should have done the reboot the way Pierce Brosnan wanted (and kept Pierce Brosnan): back to the 50's and 60's. That would have been so cool.
pierce wasn't THAT great as bond imo...
He looked the part but he played it with such a linear samey style throughout.. Dalton was superior, such a shame he didn't do a third.
I don't think Nolan would be the best fit. I find he loves to make things overly dark and gritty. I like my Bond with action and witty quips.
Not much of what he made is actually that dark, though.
His Batman stuff is dark and gritty relative to other Batman films, but at the end of the day it's still about a dude dressing up as a bat to fight crime.
Chistopher Nolan has terrible fight scenes in his movies though.

Dark and gritty is the wrong term.
The special thing about his movies is that detail in being realistically. That one thing that every of his movies has. People think it's the deep story or something different, but his movies are just so realistically directed.
What would 'Peter Jackson's Bond' be like?
Point is I really don't see this happening. Not for 24, but I'm sure Nolan will do a bond film some day. He's got a hard-on for bond films.
Few weeks ago I heard some rumours about Danny Boyle directing Bond 24. I'm not sure what happened with that, but he would be a terrific choice.

I'm a bit of a Brosnan fanboy. I am apparently the only person who liked Die Another Day. Christopher Nolan would direct a much more Daltony Bond I think, so that'd be a win for you

dinosaurs
I don't usually watch Bonds, buy Skyfall was pretty cool.
Lets hope with Nolan in charge he shoots it on film instead of digital which Skyfall was, and in my opinion is incredibly stupid for future proofing reasons.
i'll assume we're talking super 35 here.
you cannot shoot on a format when all the labs are closing down.
considering bond UK based film series, with deluxe color closing down this means that there is nowhere to get rushes/dailies done so it makes shooting on film massively impractical.
you also forget that cameras like the the arri alexa closely match the dynamic range film offers and there is no "future proofing" a film release now, there hasn't been for about a decade, as it is all done with capture to film > digital intermediate edit > color the digital scans > print to film or make file for theatre release.
i don't know why film is more "future proof" because it degrades over time, costs more money and can hardly be pushed past a 2K scan, with 4K being just too much. whilst theoretically there is a lot of details and resolution in super 35, there is only so far it can go before the quality is affected compared to say, a 4K RED camera.
for film in general as a capture medium, super 16 film is no longer considered good enough to go up to HD as TV networks have declined to accept it as the grain confuses their MPEG-2 compression and results in shite quality, and you'd be hard pressed to push it to 2K.
in short digital filmmaking is here to stay and film is an almost dead format. it's sad yes, we have a lot of nostalgia attached to it, but it is the way the industry is going
Nolan is past his prime, I don't think this is a good idea

What are you trying to say
Just curious, what's so amazing about Christopher Nolan's movies? I never understood the craze, just fast editing and close-up shots.

CGI bonds on an epic scale
Think LotR but replace everyone with bond and bond villains
Chistopher Nolan has terrible fight scenes in his movies though.
I agree. He's been getting better at it (the Bane vs Batman scene in the sewers was probably one of his best), but it's still nowhere near the excellence of, say, that silhouetted scene in Skyfall.
Lmao batman was a lighter affair than casino royale or skyfall was. Even the DKR had more quips and humor than skyfall did. Shit nigga skyfall is bleak and fucking moody.
I mean did people suddenly forget the bond films are literally about a government sanctioned murderer and high functioning sociopath?
that's just the gritty and grimdark modern intepretation.
in the old bond movies it's basically hey were killing fucking everyone but theyre bad guys and its kinda funny too and bond is suave and charming as opposed to a bruiser like the bond played by daniel craig.
modern bonds are good too though, just different.
I'd love to see Nolan as a Bond director.
I'd love to see Nolan as a Bond.

Has nobody seen Skyfall? It had some silly shit in it.
wow, just wow
hope the new one brings back a little more of the traditional bond experience, the cars with gadgets, some spying, maybe a bond chick
can we not get a gay villain though, that was just awkward

Nolan's favourite Bond movie is "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".
Roger Moore is the best Bond.
