It's because the dutch part of the community is a pretty close group of people.
People from outside of The Netherlands seem to stay out of this topic for the most part. So that's why there's mostly serious posts.

Nee, Brussel, maar ik heb wel in Antwerpen gewoond (redelijk dicht bij de grens)
Het zag er brutaal uit man. In het filmpje die wij te zien kregen zag je mensen de lucht in vliegen.

it has been confirmed that 5 people have died because of this(one just died in the hospital).
the driver responsible for the tragedy was apparently some kind of security guard(or similiar)
whos been known to be calm and a bit reclusive.
the driver has recently given up his rent and has propably been fired recently.
he's currently in critical state in the hospital (altough many propably don't give a damn because he probably harmed those people on purpose).
this Queensday was going to be one of the better ones: skys were clear, the streets were more crowded then ever and i got a nice unused zire71 PDA(with GPS module) for a cheap price.
i got home and suddenly on the tv they were reporting about the crash. not a very nice surprise.
i hope ive been able to bring some people up to speed.
if anybody wants to know: i got this info from Teletekst.
and srry if i forgot something
I'm pretty damn shocked :S
If you think a picture in this thread is funny, you can "lol" about it to yourself, don't share the fact that you're "lol"-ing with the thread.
How did the car make it that far without stopping? And why is the cop in that one picture just standing there watching the car drive through people?

What could he have done? The car was like going in 50mph, not much time to react.
have you seen what we use as roadblocks for events like this? they are basicly nothing more than a few metal fences standing next to eachother.
and if you listen carefully to the footage you can hear 2 "clangs" right before the car entered the square which indicate that he ran the car between 2 fences and ran into the crowd before losing control. (which he probably lost before hitting the statue as i dont see a really conscious driver in any of the pictures).
in my personal POV i believe the guy tried to commit suicide (he lost his job in the middle of the economical crisis and that can cause a nervous breakdown with some people).
i dont want to know how he would react if he did try to commit suicide and hears that he actually killed 5 people while trying.
To the people saying that the cops should have done something to stop it I don't think that having some guy run in front of a car going at that speed would do much good.
This happened in like 3 seconds by the time the cops had noticed what was happening the guy had already plowed through the barrier and crowd.

Have you read the whole thread, it's a Marechausseeer.

They're not really roadblocks, they're crushbarriers/dranghekken

And indeed, one of my first reactions was someone who wanted some attention when commiting suicide.

a bus with an open roof is also dangerous for the Royal family, I think.
they could also shoot from a window(if they realy want to kill the queen)
like JKF

Well, we haven't had any attempts on a Royal's life as to now. It's possible that the man didn't even intend to hurt the royal family.
Also, we've spend over € 7.000.000 on security, do you really think anyone could kill the queen that easily?
Furthermore, why would you want to kill the queen?
Well if you watched the video you would have noticed the guy had wrecked the car previously before it got onto the camera. The car was already messed up before it even hit anybody, I Think he hit people because he wrecked and the gas got pushed down and the driver was knocked out. if the driver had been aware that he was going to hit stuff he would have applied the brakes which he did not, so

What?
His car was already wrecked?
OH NO! We didn't notice that yet! :O
Seriously dude, I'd suggest that you read the thread, and then get out.
Also, there's more news:
The hoofdofficier of the OM has made it very clear that this was not a terroristic act, and that this wasn't the work of a whole group.
The suspect's name is Karst T., is 38 years old and he is from Huissen.
He is now braindead, but he talked before they pulled him out of his car. He did say his acts were against the royal family.

It has already been confirmed that he did it on purpose.
If I was a gun wielding cop I would have walker up to his car and executed him on the spot, I hope he rots in hell for what he has done

Why shoot him and put him out of his missery this soon? It's better that he lives and is paralized for the rest of his life or something.
Dayum.
