Is there an actual game store and hardware store which does not suck? I'm in London btw.
Oh wow. Seriously, never heard of this chain, EVER.
Thanks to the removal of flagdog I can't actually remember where you live. But how in the almighty fuck have you never heard of them? They may be a mainly EU chain, but people around the world know of the existence of GAME.
I'm actually quite thankful, the two GAME stores in the city I'm currently in are quite accommodating for PC games. The larger of the two has a two shelf wide, ceiling tall new releases section, and there are a few budget shelves dotted around it. Usually a bit cheaper than Steam too which is nice (until wallet-rape time arrives that is). The smaller has the one shelf thing going on, but usually have most games out back, so all I need to do is ask about the game.
Never heard of GAME until now, or recently when GAME was being an asshole or something...
even Tesco stocks more PC games than fucking GAME, and that includes new releases.
Hey man Tesco is pretty cool.

I'm not sure how global they are, but DiTech is awesome for hardware and they sell a few games too. PC games specifically, only PC games.

They're mainly a UK store.
The two GAME stores and the Gamestation in my city have the usual Sims and WoW PC sections.
Every so often I go in for a few minutes and have a chuckle at how pretty much every PC game they have you can buy on Steam for 50-75% less than they are asking.
Throw out those gigantinourmous Modern Warfare 3 Elite stands and replace them with the good stuff.
de-stock call of duty
stock battletoads
Can GAME stock anything?
Well let's be honest it was a good game.
The animated cutscenes scared the fuck out of me.
And I was only 7.
that's weird the GAMEs in australia have a proper pc section iirc
Cambridges GAME shop is alright, stocks a lot of stuff and is quite well laid out. Sometimes I swear people just exaggerate tons about this kind of thing.
Game...
-No PC games
-£50 new releases no matter what the game is
-Charts that don't mean shit
hey, imadman
GAME sucks
we know that
I don't think we really need all these threads about how much and how exactly it sucks.
Well apologies for posting news, Mil.
GAME are going bust anyway

My local store has had a copy of this in the PC section for months now.

But to be fair, they also have quite a few decent PC games in stock.
Game stores should be like 'The Beer Store' in Canada. You go into an empty room ask for the game or accessory and they go into the back into a giant warehouse where every game is. Alot more space

Wouldn't be as good, The gamestop near me looks nice on the inside. And that helps to pull people in, For a shop. Presentation is one of the most crucial parts.
Also, How will you discover new games? You might if you are on top of it all. but Joe Common Consumer isn't. So all he can really get is call of duty, or madden. Basically only big yearly franchises.
Game irritates me, their staff have no idea what they are talking about and aren't hired on their gaming knowledge whatsoever. All of the gamestations I've been in have had people who obviously play games manning the tills. I've heard people at game talking complete shit to customers about the consoles (Once I heard an employee there tell a customer that a Wii had very good HD graphics and wasn't much worse than an Xbox just to try and sell them a Wii). Gamestation is infinitely better.

The people in the GAME near me used to be incredibly helpful, always recommended good games and you could hold knowledgeable conversations with them. Unfortunately that changed, this is my diary entry from that day. "I heard the people that work in the shop say that Alicia Keys looks like a pornstar (but only when she “pretends to be white”) and that they would do things to her."
Every single GAME I've been in was cramped, overheated and poorly set out. I've been to about 5 different GAME stores and they had all the PC games in a corner next to the pre-owned old games.
Fuck GAME.
The only good GAME store I've been in had 2 floors, one of which being almost entirely dedicated to PC gaming. They also sold pre-owned consoles and other various cool stuff.
Then they shut it down and moved to a building on the same street, except that the new building is the size of a Subway (the sandwich shop), and only stocks new games - oh, and the PC section is non-existent.
The fuck GAME?
Wow it seems like I'm the only person who genuinely likes GAME. But I think its probably more because I get a sense of nostalgic value when I go in there.
GAME may actually be as worse as PC World

Also, bullshit, I went in to GAME a few days ago to pick up skate 3, they had like a whole row of stacked MW3 copies. They could have just one stack and then keep the rest behind the counter, but instead they waste all that fucking space on MW3. They did it with all the 'Top 10' games too.
Last time I went in there (couple months ago) they were selling MW2 and Black Ops for the same price as MW3.
What.

Oh come on.... It's an OK game but not worth that price after that long.
Really, no game is.

Wow.. fucking wow.
I wouldn't even pay £48 for a brand new game on release, never mind one that is more than a year old.
On the bright side, it's only £20 on PC.

To be fair, Black Ops is moderately less shitty than MW3.
To be fair, Black Ops is moderately less shitty than MW3.
Doesn't mean it should cost more.
There's tons of old old games that are 1000x better than some fresh off the press games today, they're 5$, the new ones are 60$
