Hmm the GAME down the road from me is fine.
That's where i bought all my s.t.a.l.k.e.r retail games. Soc,CS,Prip.
Also im mates with the owner so...yeah im in the clear.
Either you're so old, anything younger than 50 years is 'new' to you, or you just have never bought a retail game before.

I consider steam to be pricy at £30 brand new games, but GAME takes the fucking cake.
When I went into my local store:
BLOPS for £50, MW3 for £40
Nearly fell over.
Steam has awesome sales very frequently though.
We don't have GAME in the US (not in Washington at least), but from what I've seen on FP aren't they pretty much worthless anyway?
GAME stores are pretty much useless, my local one has 1/2 of it's PC shelves taken up by WoW and the rest is pretty much CoD and BF3.
Fuck GAME.
I remember working in GAME as a christmas temp. The shop was really nice but as always, we had about 5-6 shelves for the console and 1 for the PC section, which really needed another shelve cause the game cases were falling off it when piling them on. Even the DvD/Blu-ray "charts" had 2 shelves.
Also the "top of the charts" section is BS, my manager told me on the first day that it's the developer/publisher that paid for the advertising to be at the top of the charts. If the game was selling goodor not.
That's the thing, they're selling games no-one really buys anymore, apart from my Mum, no-one I know plays The Sims, and WoW just seems to be a commodity people brag about having now.
WoW a commodity? I'd call it a waste of money, but not commodity.
The PS3, XBOX, Wii and even DS-shelves are so blown out where I live. And then there's that tiny, tiny corner for PC games, which usually consists of CoD, Battlefield and some old obscure game noone plays.
RE-PRIORITIZE AND YOU'D ALSO GET MORE CUSTOMERS
I know you all americans hate Gamestop but let me tell you, at a mall here Gamestop opened a store right next to the GAME store and it's so much better.
Them stocking more PC games would not get them that many new customers. People pretty much stick to steam now anyway.
I love the fact that the PC section at my local games is full of "insert X here" simulator "insert date here" like dumpster truck simulator 2011. and barbies little horse, yet They don't have FEAR or the original call of duty.. There is a reason my steam is doing so well, game retailers should slowly be phased out in my opinion and should be sold online. Don't stop selling physical copies, just make online stores where you don't have to worry about shelf space because its all in a warehouse.
Game...
-No PC games
-£50 new releases no matter what the game is
-Charts that don't mean shit
And second hand copies of consoel games that are just as expensive as brand new ones.
here in france every GAME i have ever been to ALWAYS had at least ONE copy of the first counter strike on their shelves. it's fucking laughable.
i got the orange box there though. in 2011.
Went to gamestation today, staff were very helpful indeed, much nicer than GAME.
Went to gamestation today, staff were very helpful indeed, much nicer than GAME.
Opposite for me, worked in Gamestation as a Christmas temp the year before I worked in GAME as one. The staff in Gamestation were so dull, depressed, emotionless. Typical "I can't be bothered to be here" attitude. While in GAME, everyone made an effort to be nice, more emotional, animated and such. I had such a laugh when I was in GAME.
But I suppose it's just random chance if you work with zombies or actual people.
I bought Skyrim (PC) at GAME for £20, which is £15 cheaper than what Steam was charging.
People GAME and Gamestation are the same company GAME bought out gamestation in 2007 they are just two sides of the same coin
I bought Skyrim (PC) at GAME for £20, which is £15 cheaper than what Steam was charging.
On occasion GAME/ Gamestation are really, really good for PC games, older ones are usually very cheap, and if they are stocking newer ones they tend to be relatively cheap after a short while as they just don't sell thanks to Steam.
I prefer retail even if it is Steamworks. So if I get the chance I usually buy a game from them unless Steam has a sale.
Game irritates me, their staff have no idea what they are talking about and aren't hired on their gaming knowledge whatsoever. All of the gamestations I've been in have had people who obviously play games manning the tills. I've heard people at game talking complete shit to customers about the consoles (Once I heard an employee there tell a customer that a Wii had very good HD graphics and wasn't much worse than an Xbox just to try and sell them a Wii). Gamestation is infinitely better.
Its funny because they are owned by the same company. GAME purchased Gamestation a few years back.
It's probably been mentioned, but fuck reading something that looks like it's ended in which company owns it; if they really have a problem with space for Christ sake, move all the pre-owned games; I swear I walked in once and thought I seen Luigi's fucking mansion when I was trying to see the prices of SWTOR, Oh to top that off "I can't guarantee you we'll have any copy's but I do what world of warcraft collection"
Get rid of the hipsters you have working too, they piss me off; I don't care about your old retro N64 you got off ebay, I just want some MGS:HD without listening to your shit.
God tits damnit; GAME can go to hell.
I never go to a GAME store for my pc titles. I go on their UK website and I preorder PC games at half the price I normally would on a regular French store, online or not.
There's a Gamestop down in Turku that I visit like once a year, I've never been disappointed by their selection.
Ok, I mean, the new game titles have always been shit there, but the bargain bin, aww yeah.
Warcraft 3 and Frozen Throne, sealed copies for 15€ together.
tbh with Steam and that there's really no need for stores like GAME to stock that many PC games.
All you guys are complaining about GAME's terrible PC game section.
The local Game-Stop here completely removed theirs about a month ago.
No reason to go anymore unless I'm in the mood for a new PSP game or something.

As my local GAME's main game for PC.
Exactly this!
You go into a GAME store and they just have shelves and shelves of pure shit.
What adds insult to injury is that often they will have shelves full of the same game, why? Surely they can't sell out of a game that fast that it requires 100's of empty boxes of one specific game out at any one time?
Oh yeah, I forgot, GAME's are generally run by morons who reserve massive amounts of shelf space for piss-poor games.
Fuck GAME. Wouldn't buy a game in a retail store unless they offered a significant discount, and even then I would be hard pushed because it would likely be GAME!
The GAME where I live is pretty sweet.
I bought Skyrim (PC) at GAME for £20, which is £15 cheaper than what Steam was charging.
20£ only around 10 of which goes to Bethesda, rest of them goes to GAME.
On the other hand 35£ in Steam, 20 of them goes to Bethesda and 15£ of them goes to Valve.
The choice is obvious to me. [sp]The second one.[/sp]
We have a fairly good GAME in Galway, they have half a room upstairs for PC games, pretty cheap too.
I found out the other day that EB Games / Gamestop Canada still stocks a decent amount of PC games, they just don't put them on the shelves because it's hard to keep track of all the disks/CD-keys when separated from the case.
I can still find older gems like Battlefield 2, Orange Box, Crysis and stuff if I just ask.
Well let's be honest it was a good game.
It still is! There's a new open-source project to port the game engine to newer Windows versions (Windows 7 etc).

Requires a copy of Theme Hospital though, but still cool.
