Thank god that there isn't a GAME in Finland or at least not that I know of. There are gamestops though but they're alright.
20£ only around 10 of which goes to Bethesda, rest of them goes to GAME. On the other hand 35£ in Steam, 20 of them goes to Bethesda and 15£ of them goes to Valve. The choice is obvious to me. [sp]The second one.[/sp]
Do you have any actual proof for what you're saying? From what I've heard, retailers make almost nothing on new games.
I know you all americans hate Gamestop but let me tell you, at a mall here Gamestop opened a store right next to the GAME store and it's so much better.
This is kind of late, but I have a story. At my local mall, there was a Gamestop on the bottom floor near the entrance, and an EBGames on the top floor at the other side of the mall. Gamestop bought EBGames, so now there's two Gamestops within walking distance.
Gamestation is the shit.

For a $30 game, the developer gets $12.15, the distibutor 10-20% and the retailer receives the rest. If the distributor takes 10% this works out as Developer - $12.15 Distributor - $3.00 Retailer - $12.85 If the distributor takes 20% this works out as: Developer - $12.15 Distributor - $6.00 Retailer - $9.85 Source:Why Games Cost What They Do by Greg Costikyan. http://www.costik.com/whycost.html
I wasn't quite correct originally since Steam takes around 30-40% and so do retailers but still, I'd rather support Valve than some greasy retail shops. They're cancer.
I've not been inside a retail game shop in years, steam is so much better.
Ha, my local GAME closed down years ago, the place was always ludicrously overpriced and never had much interesting in, although they did have a wall and a half dedicated to PC games. Granger games and Game station are absolutely abysmal when it comes to PC games, you are lucky if you get the end of a racks worth.
tbh with Steam and that there's really no need for stores like GAME to stock that many PC games.
Except for the people, like me, who have no credit card or any other way of paying online, unless I buy a prepaid Visa, but only one place sells those here and I'd have to go to the other side of town. [editline]26th February 2012[/editline] I also have pretty slow internet so I like buying games retail as I can install them much faster
Yeah it's hard being underage. Not owning a visa and all.
Yeah it's hard being underage. Not owning a visa and all.
I've been buying games on steam for like three years now.. I've only had a CC since September last year.
Many PC retail games nowadays require steam, like SR3
So? They have a disk so if your ISP is fucking retarded and has a cap on you're not having to wait to install it.
Yeah it's hard being underage. Not owning a visa and all.
I've had a MasterCard from my bank since I was 15. The only thing I was required to do was have the account under my mother's name as well as my own name.
Supermarket master race. Seriously though, new release games are considerably cheaper in a supermarket/anything else that has ever existed, than GAME.
I never see games in supermarkets unless it's Barbie Horse Adventures for the DS or something
Theres 2 GAMEs in the MK's City Centre, one of them has about two, three, four shelves dedicated to PC, but this is mainly because of Gamestop being on the other side while HMV is around the corner thats also selling PC games. The other GAME which is on the other side of the City Centre has none or barely any competition within its side of the City Centre... Only 1 shelve for PC and maybe 2 shelves if overstocking occures, this GAME that i'm speaking about is two times bigger than the one that gave up more space for PC games, its just all FIFA, COD, Battlefield etc. Pisses me off so much. Oh and don't ever get a PC game from Blockbusters, the two I from time to time check, only have 1 one those rotating rack things that they shove bargin bin re-released titles into. Plus if I remember rightly GAME does this kinda shit as well.
