Wow you are a dick
am I not allowed to ask questions? Is that not the point of a forum, to discuss a topic?

"but I have never been taught anything about nuclear power over than it can cause Chernobyl like events."
Yes indeed I am a dick.
Sounded like you were stating incorrect laws of physics, or that you had no idea what you were on about, and considering that almost every page in these threads bout the reactors theres some wankstain that always asks those same old retarded questions or shouts "LOL THAT THINGS GONNA ASSPLODE WE'RE ALL DEAD MAN GAME OVER!"
Great, we have social studies tomorrow at school and you can bet your ass this will be a big topic. It's going to be a damn war, me probably being the only one defending NPPs and everyone else just talking about stuff they don't understand in the least.
Can't say I'm complaining though, smiling smugly when it turns out they don't even know what a meltdown is and proving they've been talking out their ass is such a great feeling.

School there ass and bust out the trump card of molten salt reactors
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molten_salt_reactor
No, I did not state that this will cause a Chernobyl like effect. I commented on the fact that all I have been taught on the subject of reactors is that all of them will by some retard behind a news desk, and later stated that I am not stupid enough to take everything they say as fact.
Am I not allowed to ask someone obviously more knowledgeable than me how Boron can absorb neutrons? I never claimed it did not absorb these neutrons, I asked how such an even occurs. Last time I checked, asking people who know more about x to give you some information on x is a good way to learn about x.

Read my last post to you, its not the fact you don't know, it's the fact that almost every page in every thread the exact same questions are asked each time so the information is most likely there.

Thanks
Do you have anything smart to say by any chance?

Not sure if you get it.

But really, I hope everything works out in Japan. I like that place, and their food.

I read every page of this thread, no such post explaining how boron collects neutrons was there

I forgot to point out the strawman here, silly me

Smarter than staying and arguing I'd say. :smug:

Good for you
Run along now
Three-Mile island was a 5, by the way.
Who else is watching the news like a hawk? Nuclear stuff interests me, but I'm more worried about the people. The People and Maru
Isn't flying helicopters over the reactor how a bunch of Russians died in Chernobyl?
Metal, distance and time spent over the reactor come into play, the radiation is dispersed around the reactor the pilots are not over the substances for a longer period of time and they are protected by the metal in the helicopter wouldn't be surprised if they had radiation suits on and Geiger counters.

Oh yeah, that should work pretty well. Not to mention they're going to spout bullshit on how it's "going to cause a huge nuclear explosion" and spew crap about how NPPs work (which they really don't know).
The debate probably won't even get so evolved that I can start talking about different types of reactors and newer technologies.
Intelligence cannot always reason against stupid/ignorance.

True that, but although they won't admit that they are talking out of their ass I can still make them look like retards when they say that a meltdown is a nuclear explosion (or that Chernobyl went off like a H-bomb).
Damn nothing gets the adrenaline flowing like a good debate, heck we are even two classes having the same lesson together so even more of an audience (the larger the audience the better).
Take em step by step through the detonation process of a warhead, then describe how that's impossible for a reactor of any kind and how modern reactors have more safety features than pretty much any installation in existence anywhere.
I've got a Physics lesson in an hour and we'll probably be having the same discussions.
Except we'll all be agreeing :v:
France says a lot of bullshit and we still have a shitload of RBMK Chernobyl style facilities. Our government just can't shut their trap as always.

That, and I'll ask them how exactly we have photos of a relatively intact NPP if a damn H-bomb went off inside it.
Then just explain to them what a meltdown is, why Chernobyl was so bad and why it's due to people protesting nuclear energy that we are stuck with 40 years old NPPs.
Turns out my physics teacher wants us to some research into this for our homework. Facepunch seems to have me covered

We just started the waves chapter in electricity and magnetism so the first thing we talked about last class was the tsunami.
