which explain's why they can drop the ball like this because they don't care and won't be hit to hard money wise although that made not be the case for them over in the USA.
How did they drop the ball? They just pulled outside of a very nonlucractive stock market for them, which is also incredibly expensive. I actually wouldn't be suprised if there already was a trend of companies moving away from NYSE in some cases.
Konami is aiming to be a leader in the pachinko and slots industry inside Japan, it seems that's why they're closing game development studios under their umbrella.
They own gyms too! [editline]28th April 2015[/editline] I'm late
I hope nothing happens to my yugioh tournaments!
I was talking with friends and I just had this thunk that maybe Del Toro and Kojima should take what they'ved learned from the PT demo and still move forward but with an original IP that's a spiritual successor instead of Silent Hill.

It definitly would give Kojima some growth and he'd be learning from a fantastic director.
It definitly would give Kojima some growth and he'd be learning from a fantastic director.
and you know how much kojima loves working with hollywood stars. please i shouldn't be optimistic but this is getting me excited
Kojima should get hired by warner bros games since wb is the only dev/publisher with a really good game track record Make snatcher 2 while he's at it
WB has horrible PR though. Let's not forget the whole debacle with Shadow of Mordor, or the slightly more recent DMCA takedown of Dying Light mods due to WB's affiliation with the ESA. Or even something like them threatening to sue Mark Hamill because of taped appearances of him doing the Joker's voice post Arkham City. Personally, with Kojima getting so burned by Konami, I would think it would be in his best interest to form his own gaming studio again while also being the publisher. I'm sure he's got the money to pull something like that off, and if he doesn't, he could always turn to the latest craze that is crowdfunding. SNATCHER 2 would be amazing though. Or a follow up to Policenauts even. Something that isn't Metal Gear related, because I'm sure he would love to try something new now that he won't have Konami bitching over his back.

That sucked, although the project had other issues.
Do you guys think we'll see their digital entertainment branch become completely dissolved in the coming years? According to the rumors inside Konami, whole teams are being transferred or just let go. It's terrible to think all of those classic IPs- Castlevania, Contra, Gradius, all of what remains of Hudson Soft- could be nothing more than flashy artwork on the outside of a pachinko machine someday.

Kojima Productions is his company, Konami was just his publisher. That's why they're scribbling out "Kojima Productions" in all the products he was working on, they don't have the rights to use his name anymore.

Also, konami is HUGE in the market for regular slot machines in America
what the fuck did i miss
does kojima own the rights to metal gear, or konami? Will konami sell its IP's now that its not making video games anymore?
I think Platinum would let Kojima do what he wants with Metal Gear, I mean after all, he trusted Kamiya with Metal Gear Rising. After something like that it would be a dick move for Kamiya to restrict Kojima in any way.
Hideki Kamiya had nothing to do with Metal Gear Rising. I understand the idea here of quid pro quo, but I just don't think Platinum is willing to make a risk on the narrative-driven stuff Kojima wants to make. Now if Kojima wanted to make an action game, which isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility, then yeah I can see him going to Platinum. [editline]28th April 2015[/editline]
tbh he'd probably want to go into movies [editline]27th April 2015[/editline] dude spends most of his day watching movies, mgs4 was pretty much a movie in itself, and he was trying to work with a very renowned director on a video game, presumably to get cred in hollywood
I would be extremely surprised if he went into movies. In an interview with Doritos some time ago, he mentioned having an abundance of ideas for video games built up over the last 10 years and how he'd love to work on them but he's tied to Metal Gear; in a Q&A at BAFTA in 2012, Kojima talks about how he got into video games specifically because he saw that they were capable of things that films were not. That is, making the audience part of the show.
Konami is going down the toilet, just wait a few more months/years and they will be extinct
Maybe this, in the end, will be a good thing. Kojima wants to be done with Metal Gear, and MGS5 is going to be his grand send off. Konami wants to downsize and have a more successful business, great for them too. It doesn't bother me that more MG games will come, and be shit. They wont matter, they wont be cannon, so whatever. Kojima will go on to create a whole new thing that will be beautiful.
Konami is going down the toilet, just wait a few more months/years and they will be extinct
lol idk why you people are thinking this, konami is still strong
I wonder who will pick up Kojima, or if Kojima will make his own studio. It'd be dope if he went to FROM SOFTWARE, I feel like he and Hidetaka Miyazaki would get along, but I'm not sure he'd be able to humble himself to the kind of budget FROM SOFTWARE would give him.
Kojima is going to make his own studio most likely. He has always liked being more in control, its actual the very reason he learned programming. He already had a team Kojima Productions and im sure a lot of the top people involved with Kojimas team all these years will follow. Even if he doesnt, he can get a job anywhere in the games industry, he is by far one of the best and people know it. People were saying platinum, well Kamiya has tweeted he honestly thinks Kojima is the best developer in the world right now soooooo yeah, he got a job their if he wants. I just hope he gets to keep rights over Fox Engine or something, it would be brutal for him to lose his baby already.

He doesn't manage payroll, however; that's Konami's job. Currently, everyone at Kojima Productions is a Konami contractor, and that'll probably continue through the life cycle of Phantom Pain.
In that case, will Kojima be able to continue using the FOX Engine for future projects?
We don't know, it depends on their licensing with Konami.
Konami is going down the toilet, just wait a few more months/years and they will be extinct
Konami isnt just video games bro

Glad it was just payroll. Im not really concerned then at this point. What fucking publisher WOULDNT work with someone like Kojima? His name alone brings sales these days.
I've never been a fan of Silent Hill, but I'm rather sad that PT is no more... It had so much potential. It scared the crap out of me just with a few seconds. But as I said, I'm still sad about PT. That looked perfect.
Desolation, devastation What a mess they made When it all went wrong
