But how can there be a PC master race if gamers have all been dead since September(ish)?
Um, sorry if I'm a bit uninformed, but what do you mean by that?
Um, sorry if I'm a bit uninformed, but what do you mean by that?
Apparently people are still pretending that there was some evil conspiracy of "gamers are dead" articles that the illuminati released to soften the minds of the public around the time GG started. In reality it was closer to three people just asking about what a "gamer" really was.
why is everyone trying to grill this guy for saying something thats actually pretty right yeah that pc master race bullshit is dumb and it drives people away from playing pc games
I don't think it is, I don't really have any arguments at the moment to back it up. The reason hes being "grilled" is because he refers to it as a symbol to Nazism and white supremacy, in non-ironic fashion. PC-master race is a joke, anybody who takes it seriously is looking for something that isn't there. What this has caused is sites like Eurogamer to start banning the term as well - over it's a "hate group." Sound familiar?
Apparently people are still pretending that there was some evil conspiracy of "gamers are dead" articles that the illuminati released to soften the minds of the public around the time GG started. In reality it was closer to three people just asking about what a "gamer" really was.
There are multiple instances of these people going further then just saying "gamers are dead" - it went as far as literally calling for their deaths and actively trying to censor or ban games because they disagreed with their opinion. It wasn't a "conspiracy" - it was people talking on twitter and decided to release their opinions (which correlated) onto the internet. They certainty weren't asking what a "gamer" was - it was more about pushing a social-justice ideology into gaming - which understandably, many people do not and will not stand for. The articles are insulting and degrading, not "Just asking."
except tons of people take the pc master race thing actually seriously and drive people away from pc gaming all the time literally just go to reddit and you'll see it by the truckload
Can I get on source where people are leaving because of the term? Exact source, not "comments on reddit" please! [editline]a[/editline] Google searches are popping up nothing for me - it sounds like your under the influence of poe's law.
"PC Master Race" was a joke, created to poke fun at the guys who do think "console plebeians" should just fuck off or buy a PC. And it was used ironically for a few months maybe at most. But as with anything, people do take it seriously, there are people who un-ironically shout about the "PC MASTER RACE!!!!" whenever given a chance to. It's a fucking dead joke, it has been for years. It's time to retire it and move on. Nothing particularly wrong about someone pointing this out. Though the apparent comparisons to Nazis and shit might be a bit far, the whole "Master race" thing is pretty rooted in Nazis, so someone looking to stir shit doesn't really have to look far.
except tons of people take the pc master race thing actually seriously and drive people away from pc gaming all the time literally just go to reddit and you'll see it by the truckload
if you don't build yourself a PC because you saw people being assholes on reddit then you probably didn't want to build a PC in the first place

It's not like they are harming you, you don't have to listen to them. The article is a blog piece where he states his dislike of the term and compares it to extremist values non-ironically. It's click bait at worst.
"hmm i wonder if pc gaming is right for me" *goes to reddit* "ha yeah fuck that community ill just stay on console where most people are just quiet and dumb instead of loud and dumb"
Hey I still don't have those sources. Also claiming console gamers aren't loud and dumb - I don't need to explain this one - all gaming communities are.
except tons of people take the pc master race thing actually seriously and drive people away from pc gaming all the time literally just go to reddit and you'll see it by the truckload
can we have some examples please
"hmm i wonder if pc gaming is right for me" *goes to reddit* "ha yeah fuck that community ill just stay on console where most people are just quiet and dumb instead of loud and dumb"
so they weren't actually interested in the content in the first place yeah they probably weren't interested in building a PC so I don't see what the issue is like if I want to buy a ferrari but I decide not to because "man these ferrari owners on reddit are dickholes" I probably didn't actually want a ferrari
can we have some examples please
I asked twice now, just ignore him until he provides actual sources to his claims. [editline]a[/editline] Looks like hes gone for a little bit.
ive built a few pcs and still pc game but i think the whole master race xd meme bullshit is just dumb and gross, i dont want to be associated with those chucklefucks [editline]16th January 2015[/editline] gamergape
That's not a source, provide statistical data. Don't make unbased claims unless you know you can back them up.
i dont need statistical data to prove that saying you're in any sort of master race is fucking asinine lmao
where are the people getting put off pc gaming because of a meme on the internet post them please
ive built a few pcs and still pc game but i think the whole master race xd meme bullshit is just dumb and gross, i dont want to be associated with those chucklefucks [editline]16th January 2015[/editline] gamergape
this mentality is so infantile if someone decides to lump you in with every other person who owns a fucking computer like everyone who does is part of a gestalt whole then that person is a fucking idiot. worry about yourself and what you do and if someone else decides to be prejudiced for no good reason just goddamn let them.
but w/e ill leave you guys be to circlejerk about how hes part of the evil sjw illuminati and being paid by ubisoft to write this or whatever
another gamer lost because of this epic internet meme :'(, WHEN WILL THE MADNESS END????????
i dont need statistical data to prove that saying you're in any sort of master race is fucking asinine lmao
You said that it makes people turned off from pc-gaming in a major way, I want statistics for that. Don't change the subject or scope. Either that, or you just don't have them.
except tons of people take the pc master race thing actually seriously and drive people away from pc gaming all the time
What are you claims based on? Comments on your favorite subreddit or twitter hashtag? That doesn't count - we need a majority. Unless you can get an unbaised source for your claim then you cannot make such a large assumption.

I just think the term is straight up retarded and people should probably stop using it because it's worn to the fucking bone. It stopped being funny years ago, yet fucklords love to spout it incessantly. I can't say I've seen anybody calling for outright banning of the phrase, just telling people "shut the fuck up HOLY SHIT you nerds". I don't really care what the article says because most of these sites are awful when it comes to opinion pieces.

So when they directly insult them and compare them to radical ideologies - they should expect some backlash. It's a dumb tumblr-level opinion article. I don't see why it needs to be defended by others in this thread, though. It a dumb term, it's a dumb article. Other people are more angry over the fact of damage control PC gamer is doing now that somebody found out the other misc. stuff. It's a dumb article and has no place on a "professional" review and recommendation site for PC users.
excuse me can you stop calling people nerds? thanks?
fite me nerds The general gist of this shit is, stop caring about what other people are playing their video games on, just fucking play video games and stop making it some kind of "us vs. them" for the different platforms. It's so fucking petty that it actually ruined a joke before the joke was even understood.
Oh yeah comparing a bunch of internet dwellers who take their jokes too seriously and don't understand when to stop using a joke to actually harmful groups is pretty fucking dumb and shouldn't have happened.
I think in general we are in agreeance then?
do we really have to start a witch hunt whenever someone writes an article with an opinion you don't agree with i mean yeah yeah it's great and all that you're trying to stop corruption in journalism, but this is not the place.
I think in general we are in agreeance then?
I never thought we weren't tbh. I just wanted to post about how telling people "stop saying that cringeworthy shit" isn't necessarily a bad thing.
i use the joke because i find it funny that people take it seriously in any way so long as people continue to take it seriously I will continue to use it because that shit is hilarious
do we really have to start a witch hunt whenever someone writes an article with an opinion you don't agree with i mean yeah yeah it's great and all that you're trying to stop corruption in journalism, but this is not the place.
if you're accepting that the people saying it's corruption are legit, then this post is fuckin amazing "guys i know you're trying to expose corruption, but can you keep it down? i'm trying to read this article about how we should stop saying an internet meme"
Anyone who doesn't take it seriously is a console gamer.
do we really have to start a witch hunt whenever someone writes an article with an opinion you don't agree with i mean yeah yeah it's great and all that you're trying to stop corruption in journalism, but this is not the place.
All somebody did was look at his twitter and found out he had a conflict of interest - he was going to get caught doing it, sooner or later. That's not a witch-hunt.
