He might be concerned about the API.
But still this idea that every one ever has to suppress their opinions at all times is a bit ridiculous.
It's not so much about suppressing their opinions, it's more so about displaying those opinions in a more professional manner. No one cares if you hate your competitors or their products, but to go about displaying it like he did just gives your company bad PR. That's why people who do these things generally don't keep their jobs for very long after the act.
"Poor online/store" Seeing what they have done with the SimCity release, I guess we could say they are especilists on that matter!
Yet we know the console was able to play games like Crysis 3 with no issue.
Graphics wise, the chip is very powerful. The problem is the CPU is really limited. It can provide nice and shiny games but when you need to simulate something it's going to start chugging. Either way the console is a it of a mess; And i don't think anyone is going to say Nintendo handled the whole thing well. This guy is on another level however.
Yet we know the console was able to play games like Crysis 3 with no issue.
So he is dumb because they didn't see it worth their time to try and get their game to run on the Wii U, since it was bottlenecked by hardware in comparison to the Xbox 360?
So he is dumb because they didn't see it worth their time to try and get their game to run on the Wii U, since it was bottlenecked by hardware in comparison to the Xbox 360?
Did I say he was dumb? No, I did not. Don't put words in my mouth.
So he is dumb because they didn't see it worth their time to try and get their game to run on the Wii U, since it was bottlenecked by hardware in comparison to the Xbox 360?
Actually the developers wanted Crysis 3 to come out on the Wii U, it was the higher ups at EA that axed it.
Did I say he was dumb? No, I did not. Don't put words in my mouth.
Well you rated the post dumb so thus that must have some meaning, no? Unless that wasn't your actual opinion and you do not wish to disclose it.
The GPU is supposedly better though.
Better than a 7 year old machine, that's still not good
"Poor online/store" Seeing what they have done with the SimCity release, I guess we could say they are especilists on that matter!
There's a difference between a game with iffy online elements and an entire console with iffy online elements. And Origin is actually pretty damn awesome, so yeah, I guess they are the "especilists" on that matter
Credibility lost.
you're an idiot
Well you rated the post dumb so thus that must have some meaning, no? Unless that wasn't your actual opinion and you do not wish to disclose it.
Let us not make things personal here.
Let us not make things personal here.
Or else that guy on the internet is going to come and get me for insulting some console.
Well you rated the post dumb so thus that must have some meaning, no? Unless that wasn't your actual opinion and you do not wish to disclose it.
I was rating YOU dumb.
I was rating YOU dumb.
Because I quoted a guy at 4A games?
He's right though.
Because I quoted a guy at 4A games?
We know the Wii U doesn't have ground breaking specs. But it's really not as shit as people, some devs and mostly consumers, are claiming it is. It's able to play games that are on the 360 and PS3 with better visuals most of the time, unless the game is a shoddy port like a lot of the launch games were. Need For Speed MW, Ninja Gaiden 3, Darksiders 2 (to an extent), and Assassin's Creed 3 have better or slightly improved visuals compared to the versions on the 360 and PS3. And we know the Crysis 3 was more than playable on the Wii U but will never be released. The only games that will really let the Wii U's power shine will more than likely be first party titles like the Mario and Zelda games that will eventually show up, maybe even Bayonetta 2 will because it's a Wii U exclusive. The console isn't complete shit, but it also isn't using next gen tech so it will suffer in the graphics department.
Fuck this guy and fuck his company. If they don't want to make games for the Wii U, whatever, that's just a source of revenue they REFUSE to cash in on (and I'm always happy when EA loses potential profits). As a developer, you should offer your product on as many platforms as you can, maximizing potential revenue and well, one of the largest publishers refusing to make games for one of the three major consoles? That's ridiculous.
Y'know what sucks? His "Wii U is less powerful than 360" comment? People will actually believe that crap because he's a high-up in the game industry and "obviously he knows more about consoles than you do" even though it's completely not true. All this mud-slinging just because Nintendo refused to bend over and be Origin's bitch. All this misinformation. When did the industry get this bad? Say what you want about the old console wars, at least companies never resorted to slander back then. The last thing the game industry needs is people believing outright lies. I mean, c'mon: this isn't American politics.

I was responding to him because he didn't have the whole picture otherwise he wouldn't be disbelieving the original guy's remark. The only benefit over the 360, which is almost 7 years old is the GPU. I get that its supposed to be cheap, and that it has Nintendo exclusives. I personally don't understand why people get so worked up over video game consoles, considering that the majority of people here are PC gamers.
You really are the biggest Nintendo fanboy ever aren't you...
So instead of trying to disprove what he said, you have resorted to name calling. Good job.

I misunderstood why you posted the quote. Yeah the CPU is fairly weak, and it relies on the gpu to make up for it.
You really are the biggest Nintendo fanboy ever aren't you...
So be it. Someone has to stick up for the good guys.
So instead of trying to disprove what she said, you have resorted to name calling. Good job.
HE

Companies would put phrases like "It has 64 bits!" on the ads and such, just because the bigger number made them seem better than their competitor or something.
The Wii U does indeed look like it may fall victim to limited third party support. The next xbox and PS4 are going to blow it out of the water, and they too will have other input mechanics than just a simple controller. To an extent the guy is right.
Having a point doesn't justify his public attitude as a senior staff member at such a large company.
Having a point doesn't justify his public attitude as a senior staff member at such a large company.
His personal views don't mean shit as long as he does his job.
IT HAS 64 BITS, THAT'S A WHOLE 22 MORE BITS THAN THE COMPETITOR!!!! EDIT - Reference to the old console wars. Companies would put phrases like "It has 64 bits!" on the ads and such, just because the bigger number made them seem better than their competitor or something.
I'm well aware of the Jaguar ad campaign. However, the bits thing - pathetic as it was - wasn't the same thing. For what it's worth, they weren't lying about the bits, and the system was indeed more powerful than all the other systems they listed. Even then, that amount of outright vitriol was noted as a rarity at the time and considering how poorly the system ended up doing, it was clear people didn't like it. Flash forward to today. A blunt "Wii U isn't even as powerful as Xbox 360" in those exact words? That's a lie. It's slander. It's clear what his message was, and if you do the research you'll find it's patently not true. Is the Wii U only moderately more powerful than the Gen7 HD Twins and in some areas indeed numerically worse? Yes. But that doesn't change the fact that overall it's definitely a more powerful system and that fact is something that someone in his position should absolutely be expected to know. The guy lied and the language he used was unmistakable as to its meaning. Either that or he's a phenomenal idiot. But this is EA, and we all know that in their case the saying is reversed: "Never attribute to stupidity on EA's part what can easily be attributed to malice on EA's part."
His personal views don't mean shit as long as he does his job.
No, they don't. But as I've already implied earlier, he wasn't being very professional with the way he shared his views. For a senior employee, professionalism is everything, even outside of your work. If a senior staff member publicly displays a non-professional attitude, it brings negative attention to the company, and as a result they'll most likely either be fired or urged to resign.
