This is true though
Saying only two franchises in Nintendo arsenal are profitable is not only ignorant, but demeaning.
lol wiiu may be shit but EA is sUper shit
Saying only two franchises in Nintendo arsenal are profitable is not only ignorant, but demeaning.
just because something might be slightly profitable doesn't mean its worth your time though. There's probably more money to be made elsewhere. This one just reinforces it really. the ps4 and new xbox will be where the money is, Not the WiiU. Sure it's a shame but It's not really their fault but his tweets make him come across as a bit of a dick though.
I honestly agree with the guy. The Wii U is underpowered crap with a weird-ass tablet interface, and Nintendo does operate like it's the 90s. Nintendo has virtually no third-party applications for their console (because it's underpowered crap), and all Nintendo's software is still the same kiddie fare they put out in the 90s. Only problem is, we aren't 12 anymore.

mobile industry is the ONLY video game industry worth investing in currently [editline]a[/editline] no raelly you make a shitty flash game for two cents and charge $2 for it and advertise it for every bored manchild sittin and piddlin away at his ipod pad with money to burn (aka every one of them) why should you even bother with other kinds of games
[...] all Nintendo's software is still the same kiddie fare they put out in the 90s. Only problem is, we aren't 12 anymore.
... Our generation doesn't own gaming, you know. You're right: we're not twelve anymore. So many older gamers act like gaming had to grow up when they did; I didn't get the memo that the industry revolved around us. There are still plenty of twelve-year-olds out there. You have your cutting-edge equipment. I don't understand your animosity towards a company of toymakers just because you outgrew your toys.

But anyway, you don't need to make a game DARK and EDGY in order for it to be fun, look at games like Pikmin for example.
I guess when an indie dev bombs on Call of Duty and generalizes it's entire playerbase it's fair play but when a software engineer criticizes a console as unappealing (something that has been echoed by people in the industry before) all the sudden it's unprofessional. Can someone please explain to me why him working at EA means he can't criticize a platform his company might invest millions of dollars and manpower into? And no-one said he can't criticize the Wii U.

No need to bring up DARK and EDGY. I'm sure there will still be some cool first party games, but when your system isn't modular and is suppsoed to last for years well... you know how consoles work. :V
Does it matter how powerful the console is? History has told that the most powerful console doesn't always win. The DS had some really creative games that used what was there really well. The PSP was by far superior in terms of power but had a fraction of the sales of the DS.
The first Wii was just a modified gamecube with a silly motion controller. That didn't stop it from selling 25 million more units than Xbox 360. Nintendo is genius. They didn't start the tablet craze, but they were smart for capitalizing on it with a video game console. Maybe 3rd party titles don't do so well on Nintendo consoles because publishers aren't pushing them? Success doesn't happen if you don't give it a chance. That guy is an unprofessional douche.

The PSP was by far superior in terms of power but had a fraction of the sales of the DS.
Bigger games. More intelligent AI. Better graphics of course. Since consoles can't be upgraded it's also for future proofing purposes. Do I need to spell all this out to you? Perhaps you should take that box back and sleep in it. I really don't see how the DS and PSP are relevant. Mobile gaming is another beast entirely. It won't matter since MS and Sony are the ones that are going to decide how gaming will be but man I'd really like Nintendo to make viable alternatives for console only gamers again.
The problem isn't how the WiiU compares to the Xbox 360 and PS3, but how it compares to the next gen. The PS4 and the Tuesday-to-be-revealed Xbox will run games that the WiiU can't, because of the limited CPU power and the fact the GPU is 3 generations behind (so no fancy GPGPU number crunching). So 3rd party support will remain limited again.
Because graphics and AI are everything, right? How about the SNES vs Genesis? Gameboy vs Game Gear? Your argument doesn't hold up against real world trends. [editline]18th May 2013[/editline]
A little rumor that a friend showed to me earlier, thought it may be somewhat relevant. Now, there is nothing actually confirming this so take it with a grain of salt while reading it and seeing the source of the rumor. http://www.vg247.com/2013/05/10/wii-u-latest-system-update-has-increased-cpu-gpu-speed-rumour/
There's nothing wrong with stating your opinion. But you need to do it professionally, "Wii U is crap" is not professional in the slightest.

Some people have pointed out that the PS4s and Nextbox's rumored specs showed that (apparently) both systems had lower CPUs than their predecessors. Specs are still up in the air even when it concerns Wii U since no official specs have been revealed and people are mostly just comparing the Wii U hardware with other hardware and are making estimations on the power by those comparisons. Wii Us CPU is custom made so those kinds of comparisons are pretty null. The only confirmed slow part is the one part of the bandwidth but the other parts are still unknown. Also that article about the Wii U update making the system faster is false. I don't think technology works that way at all. If the system got faster because the system was underclocked and the update increased clock speeds, then maybe. But that article says that stuff was added to Wii U's hardware and that's just not possible unless Nintendo personally came to everyones home and added it for them.
But that article says that stuff was added to Wii U's hardware and that's just not possible unless Nintendo personally came to everyones home and added it for them.
I just reread it and no where did it say they added anything related to hardware. It just detailed a rumored, but very unlikely, overclock/unlocking of the cpu and gpu.
He is just pissed because Nintendo said no to integrating origin into the Wii-U. I can't remember where I read it, some other FPers have been mentioning it earlier this year and such. But this is the best source I could find. http://wiiudaily.com/2012/08/ea-origin-wii-u/
yeah I remember. When we first heard about EA not supporting the Wii U, it was because Nintendo didn't want Origin.
And then they let Ubisoft make a Uplay app :v: [editline]18th May 2013[/editline] Then again the Uplay is nothing like what EA wanted to do and just lets players unlock game items with their Uplay points.
And then they let Ubisoft make a Uplay app :v: [editline]18th May 2013[/editline] Then again the Uplay is nothing like what EA wanted to do and just lets players unlock game items with their Uplay points.
You don't even need to use uPlay, I don't. But if Nintendo did agree, we would be seeing Origin built into it and games would have to go by EA aswell.
Credibility lost.
Just because you think that mobile gaming is "stupid casual shit" doesn't mean that it has an INSANELY gigantic fucking market. Much bigger than the Wii U.
You don't even need to use uPlay, I don't.
That's what I meant to say. Ubisoft's app is completely optional, unlike EA's Origin idea for the Wii U. And how Origin even work on the Wii U with games like Call of Duty being on the console?
And how Origin even work on the Wii U with games like Call of Duty being on the console?
That is why games would have to go past them aswell, so say that one of EA's competitors wanted to put a game on the Wii-U, it would have to go past EA and they could easily say no since the Wii-U Would be Origin ran.
He is just pissed because Nintendo said no to integrating origin into the Wii-U. http://wiiudaily.com/2012/08/ea-origin-wii-u/
here's a tl;dr ea is like "for our online games, you gotta have an origin account to play online" just like how bf3 worked on the PS3 and 360 nintendo replied "no. you have to use OUR online thing only." then ea is like "no thanks i guess. bye." then awful gaming journalism sites reported on it and now everybody from reddit and /v/ believes that ea literally tried to force nintendo to turn the wiiu into the "origin console." also i wouldn't trust a source called "wii u daily," that unironically uses this fucking image in their article
